The quality of your baby video seems to be much better than the quality of this one...is it just me? Were the settings different or something?

I can see what you mean. But the settings were the same, but full auto, which means that the iso and other things might differ. Generally the quality is best when filming stuff close up in bright daylight without panning.

I got lots of those baby shots looking like the one you mention, on the other hand I also have lots of far worse than this one taken indoors in the evening in dim light. Also youtube recompresses your video a lot, which among other things means it doesn't handle panning and lots of detail very well, the original video looks a lot better than what you see here.

Actually this is where canon has an advantage over the panasonic, the bitrate for the canon videos are far higher than the panasonic ones, so high that you can easily spot the difference. You won't however be able to see that here, because of the youtube recompression.

My camera is a Canon SD970IS but when I try to record in HD the videos are not sincronized. How do I fix this problem?
