@gloinstrong That's when you tell your friends about Jesus. And watch him blow them apart with his crazy love. They're sons and daughters just like you man--like the 1 sheep that lost the rest of the flock in Matthew 18--they've just wandered off a bit.
I have felt like crap the past month and prayed that something would change.. lo and behold i find out switchfoot snuck a record in under my nose and I attached to this song immediately. Thanks for making me smile guys :) I really needed it.
I don't know why, but I'm about to tear up every time I hear " I want to hold my head up high, to tell you that I tried". Gets me every single time. Foreman, you have created a masterpiece.
Switchfoot isn't a Christian band. Just because a Christian channel said so, doesn't make it true. They're just a band there for people who want to hear their awesome music.
@GamerzSkillz15 --bro, John Forman said in an interview that they didnt want to be contained with a label "christian band" , they use the band to express their love for God and so they can reach out to more people.
Hey YouTube if you like this song, then you must see this time lapse video i made of japan. You can just enjoy it and hear an awesome song. Thank You, its called Kintai bridge & fireworks.
The indescribable beauty of the sun setting.. The majesty of a mountain top or the crashing power of the ocean... The eternal echo of poetry or song.. The raw power of God as witnessed through the spirit of the human being. No other animal on this planet will EVER have that ability and yet somewhere along the way we stopped listening to the obvious and doubting what the universe preaches. This song most definitely captures the awe that is God in a way that science will never be able to.
@333LoveMusic i totally agree, theres something so deep about this song that whenever i hear it, it brings about an amazing feeling. I love going back and listening to "nothing is sound " album. although,i love every song they have, in fact most of my youtube vids have switch foot songs in the background.
Absolutely ADORE how this song wraps up the album. I love how they repeat a few lines from Afterlife, the first song, at the end of the song. It just brings the whole album together so nicely.
i love their music, and it just totally amuses me how much airplay they get on secular stations, it is awesome that our Lord is being broadcast, that hope is being given even in the darkest places.
I really just can understand how a human being can listen to this song all the way through and still dislike it. This song is powerful, amazing, awesome, and probably the best Switchfoot song yet. wow
@rememberwheni I agree, everyone can relate to it but it really speaks to a Christian in that in choosing to live for Christ, we're like outsiders in this world. The closer you get to God the more you feel like you don't fit in, its hard to explain, its just an odd-ball feeling, like trying to fit a square peg into a hole.
@TheBambieyes DUDE SAME HERE. I've felt out of place.....My friends enjoy things I could never picture myself enjoying. I don't man. I wish Jesus would come back soon. :P
I still can't believe I spoke to Jon Foreman in person, and told him how much his music inspired me and made me follow God better. Thank you Jon, Thank you Switchfoot, and thank you GOD!
Saw them in Manchester and Birmingham this past week, i've been to many gigs with some huge bands, but nothing compares to these guys, they totally blew me away. They should be global superstars with 40+ million views for every song on youtube, especially this song <3
@maniacmegan616 I saw them in Birmingham too! :) Also, if it's that exciting to see Switchfoot, how exciting is it going to be to meet Jesus face to face?!
@Tispower Where abouts in the crowd were you?? we were all right near the front.. with the vice verses banner if you saw that?! I know right!! It's too amazing to comprehend!
A simple song, a simple tune, yet lyrics that just speak into my spirit. So much inspiration from this song, there's so much more to live for in this world people!
Thank you Jesus for what you're doing in so many lives!
Coldplay and Switchfoot are on two completely different paradigms people. No point comparing them. Both are groups of genius men producing spectacular music.
I've been looking for a Christian band I could like as much as I like My Chemical Romance... and I do believe I've finally found it :) MCR will always hold a special place in my heart, but nothing comes before God.
@hughes40 Making statements like that doesn't create anything positive for anyone. If you disagree, then at least articulate exactly what you think. Don't like the song? Don't believe in heaven? That's fine. Cheap insults for no reason? Not cool. It just makes me and others not want to post any comments on youtube, which is a shame, since it should be an environment where you don't have to be wary of anonymous attacks.
I really like Coldplay but switchfoot is 9,999,999,999 times better, for me. And this song is just amazing. The connection with afterlife is awesome, both are my favs from Vice Verses.
@hard2bestormtrooper I believe it is about how heaven is our true home and earth is our battle field and we want to love and brings others with us to our true home. This song has so much longing and I think in some ways we have to make earth our home in christian community until we see god :) That is my intpretation anyways!
I cannot believe how far God is still taking them!....Looking at the lyrics while listening to the song I GOT CHILLS! AND TEARS CAME TO MY EYES!!!! Just an awesome, incredible song! God Breathed <3 i have to get my hands on an album NOW! lol
Despite being the longest Switchfoot song ever by nearly 2 minutes, this song never lasts long enough. I cant say ive ever listened to a song as long as this one without getting a little bored yet here with THIS song the time goes by in the blink of an eye. Its epic, its sincere, its one of the most beautiful pieces of music ive ever heard. I LOVE it.
"Where the righteous right the wrongs"...I like that a lot. It reminds me of the New Testament images of Jesus among the sick and the lame, power flowing out from him to restore them.
nooooo. never try to compare switchfoot and coldplay. there arent any rights or wrongs betweeen them. just dont do it. They are both amazing in their own way.

@KingdomOfZeal You just made me chuckle - thanks! Show me anyone who has put out as much 'substanial' music as Jon...album after album, year after year. Again, there may be other great songwriters, BUT they are not 'better'....maybe, maybe nearly as good. But not Better.
This song, brought to you by the British Isles: Hello U2, meet my friend Oasis, and combine for a rocking song with some great theology. Switchfoot's been reading their NT Wright and CS Lewis .
"Maybe at the end of my life I will sing only one song, a song that has been refined and purified. A lonely group of notes that will be a sweet, sweet sound for an audience of one."- Jon Foreman
The only reason that guy even compared them to Coldplay is that this song, just like with most of Coldplay's songs, does a great job of creating a musical atmosphere, with lush instrumentation and inspiring lyrics. Other than that, I don't see how this is like Coldplay. The comparison just doesn't work. It's like comparing Nirvana to the Rolling Stones.
@MrBleuuu17 coldplay are anything but bad lo. i adore switchfoot and i adore coldplay. fix you is an amazing song, live its can only leave you in tears. beautiful tears though.
@MrBleuuu17 I wouldn't call Coldplay "bad", but Switchfoot is about a million times better than them - heck, Switchfoot is at least 100 times better than most artists.
@gloinstrong That's when you tell your friends about Jesus. And watch him blow them apart with his crazy love. They're sons and daughters just like you man--like the 1 sheep that lost the rest of the flock in Matthew 18--they've just wandered off a bit.

@KingdomOfZeal You just made me chuckle - thanks! Show me anyone who has put out as much 'substanial' music as Jon...album after album, year after year. Again, there may be other great songwriters, BUT they are not 'better'....maybe, maybe nearly as good. But not Better.

Amazing amazing song! Expansive, haunting, beautiful...lyrics, music, everything! Feeling very lucky to know this music.

@MrBleuuu17 I wouldn't call Coldplay "bad", but Switchfoot is about a million times better than them - heck, Switchfoot is at least 100 times better than most artists.
