Hindi is hardly the main langauge spoken in India, there are numerous official languages spoken in India but everyone (or at least the VAST majority) knows English thx to the Brits.
They have always used English in the armed forces as its made up of Indians from all over India. Not every one speaks it well and thats also the reason ENGLISH was made Indians second official language. Its better to communicate in English then Hindi plus our solders will be better of knowing English if they are to do over seas operations.
