This reminds me of watching the fireworks ceremony, from Mrs MacQuaries chair, for the closing of the Sydney Olympics, you did not know where to look.

Lovely!! I was near the opera house for this fireworks............what a dream come true for my daughter and myself! every year we watch it on tv and say we have to do it and we finally did, just in time for her 10th birthday year! Moving to Australia next year so plenty more to see in Sydney!

Wow! Those are some amazing fireworks! I don't think I've ever seen any quite like those. And what a celebration of the new year. Here, everyone is indoors at bars and parties, or (like me) already home asleep in bed.
I can't get over the green trees and the people in t-shirts at New Year's. Here, there's cold and snow. (5 degrees F. this evening.) There's always cold and snow at New Year's here; always has been.

Great angle and vid! I was just at the opera house last week and was fun to see. I saw the new year in in Mornington Vic. and Melborne had great fireworks too. Happy new year !

I just love Sydney,I have many happy memories of trips from circular quay. The fireworks on the bridge are always the best. Thanks for posting this and all your other fine videos in 2008.

I'm glad to see we weren't accidentally standing 10 feet apart or something last night! That possibility was the main reason I included the location in my info! That looks like the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay - nice choice.
2008 has been wonderful, but I hope 2009 eclipses it for all of us. X!

It was an incredible fireworks display this year eh? Amazingly beautiful and the scale of it was ridiculous, hehe!
The location I was in was a lucky accident ending up with a free line-of-sight for the bridge and opera house. The buildings directly behind me had fireworks going off them too so we all felt like we were right under and in the centre of it all - very thrilling, hehe! Being directly near the ambulance and police bay made for some interesting "entertainment" between 9pm and 12

LOL! Oh yes, 'drunken idiot o'clock' seemed to come pretty early this year! Luckily I didn't see too many real problems, but where you were I imagine it would have been way worse.
I guess that's one of the cool things about the city, that you can get a reasonable line of sight from a lot of places. You looked like you got right up to a barricade though which would have been a good score. If I'd thought, I could have given you the unused tickets!
