  • I guess it makes sense for Belch to be blue because his clay model was blue.

  • wow the palletes were really different back then

  • haha i havent seen this before!

  • I was playing NES at the time this game came out when i was younger and i havent even heard of earthbound.

  • oooh the globe in the logo in this version actually rotates just like in the mother screen!

  • why do the tenga tribe look like heartless?

  • Ness doesn't have a backpack!

  • oh my god, i just noticed that! how cool!

  • Nice, beta footage! Interesting.

  • I don't care what anyone says! T'was a fantastic game.

  • Oooh. Beta content. Everything looks oddly different.

I would love to try this.

  • Thanks for uploading this. Lots of interesting beta content there.

  • there's a group doing really well with translating mother 3 into english, and i beleive they'll be releasing it as a snes rom

  • No, they're just releasing a patch for the Mother 3 GBA rom.

  • I lost all faith/interest in Nintendo when they didn't release Mother 1+2 AND Mother 3 in the US, they have abandoned their fans, I have abandoned them.

  • Well, Nintendo lost faith in their fans when they marketed Earthbound more heavily than any other SNES game at that time, and yet the game sold atrociously here. Their fans are who abandoned them, not the other way around.

  • Lost faith in their fans, what? They are a company that produces products, they arent on some pious mission to for cultural refinement through video games. However they are the most atuned to gameing out of the others, but they need to let go of some of the coporate elitismn and national pride and cater to their western fans more, but this is how its always been, even in the 80's. They create games for Japan, they sell game to the US.

  • you obvously didn't even read the previous post. They're company that produces products. you even said that yourself. Now then, if a product doesn't sell a shit somewhere - even when considerably huge amount of money are spent to advertise it, it doesn't make much sense to publish sequels there.

  • to be fair, the majority of todays mother fans might have been learning how to color inside the lines when EB was released. and the previous generation might have found it somewhat childish and never bought it

  • Agreed. I was myself quite surpriced, how NOT a kid's game this was when I first got over the graphics and really started playing. =)

  • I was born two months after the game came out, I saw my brother playing it once and Loved it, 8 years before I even played it.

  • When your down...Illegaly download its what they deserve.

  • I think in the japanese version the characters walk more faster than the english version.

  • If y'all want a translation, ask me by posting on my profile. I'll respond on yours. Oh, and Keiffer, there are a lot more changes.

  • differences;

. No sprites for characters walking diagonally made

. there's a beep sound every time you talk to some one

. The title screen is completely different

    . Ness doesn't wear a backpack

    . The arcade is white

. The caban where paula is held doesn't have bars, but a wooden wall with a door in it

. at 1:10, if you look to the left, you can see a woman that wasn't included in the final version

. at 1:20 there is another guy that wasn't included

    . tractor is moving

  • and master belch is blue

  • Hey! I just noticed that Ness isn't even wearing a backpack!

  • At the beginning they talk about the world of a game creator. I can write a very rough translation if you give me a few.

  • Can someone please give a translation to this cool?

Is it just me or is a BGM that plays in 1:14, a lost track that's not featured in the final game or even within its hacked sound test?!

  • It is a hidden track. The original song for Scarabi, I believe. Also, the Onett song is a bit different. One note falls flat in this version. What they're saying isn't too important; it's just about the video like "Oh, there's a game center."

  • Any translation is fine with me. Also, you said that the song that played in 1:14 was Scarabi, right? Is that you think, or did you happen to hear that from somewhere?

  • It has similar instruments to the Scarabi song, if I remember how Scarabi sounded like. It's a sweet song, it could have been an older "train" song, but the train from Mother 1 never made it over, and as such the song could have been lost there. :(

  • The Tenda is way different, and the Runaway Five don't even wear hats!

  • Yeah, also, the coil snakes and other enemies are pacing, rather than charging at you.

  • The arcade is white, there are coil snakes in Lilliput, Ness is wearing some different shirt, and Paula's jail is behind a door on a wall, the tractor near the desert dig is moving, the Winters trees are different (more piney), there's a black monkey in the Tenda caves. My, how things have changed during development.
