  • I get SpongeBob now! They are nuclear fish below Bikini Atoll ( Bikini Bottom ) and because of the explosion, they can talk!

  • interessante quando a explosão faz a água virar vapor, aí ele desaparece e fica so a nuvem-cogumelo....

  • spongebob dropped the pie

  • Fart in a bathtub with toy ships.

The Cloud is spectacular, especially the way the explosion pushes the clouds away from the scene and makes new clouds instead.

But sadly, the Atoll is currently contaminated. :(

  • I met a man today who witnessed this and helped "clean" the ships. He is something special. 92 y.o.. Good stories.

  • masterpiece

  • A+

  • @DJCheifX197 no, thats because the fish are adapting to light conditions 2000m below sea level

  • and now the fish there are born with glow in the dark skin and a see thru body, even 60 years after this happened food and fish on and near Bikini Atoll is still inedible, it;s sad to see what damage a nuclear bomb can do and the long term effects it causes

  • @DJChiefX197 that´s why we have sponge bob living in bikini bottom :P

  • not nice to say... but I am always impressed by seeing that...and this is only a very small bomb...

  • Love me some nuclear weapons. We should build more.

  • That countdown clock at 0:38 is soooo ghetto.

  • awesome

  • soundtrack + video = goosebumps

  • This is from Trinity: The Atomic Bomb Movie, right? It's my favorite too.

  • At around the 1:00 mark you can see George Washington's face erupting out of smoke on the very far, lower right of the cloud.

  • how many dolphins, whales, corals and other marine life died in this explosion? does any living thing traveling in the blast radius get radiation? what are the long term effects of this?

  • @LOLMAN22

The long term effects are suckage. Weapons like this are an abomination.

  • what is this music?

  • War war never changes

  • Holy Crap!!

  • The music in this film is so beautiful

  • I do believe this, the 5th ever atomic blast (a plutonum weapon) has been the most often-seen video of nuclear events, dwarfing view stats for the soldiers in the desert event, the Tsar bomba and the others...

  • werent they a bit too near, the ships?

  • @baselkicker

They were deliberately there to test the power of an underwater nuclear blast on warships.

  • This was used in spongebob too.

  • At 0:55 you can see the USS Arkansas vertically standing on her bow.

  • @Ganiscol

on the right side ain't it?

  • @hans1066 Actually a general who was there has been quoted as saying the black shape is smoke, (granted, it was a quote on wikipedia, but still...).

  • @Ganiscol never mind. Found it. :)

  • 1946, and we had these kind of bombs. Scary how much technology evolves and has evolved.

  • @BusterBunker

    Too true.

    As Einstein said:

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

  • It may be really bad that it is indeed a nuke, but damn, that was one sexy explosion.

  • wasn't this used in the shitty version of godzilla?

  • @oXGaMeRXo

    yup ;)

  • you know the title?

  • SONG NAME?!

  • This is song written by VCE for Trinity And Beyond.

  • @mistycusa1 The track title is "Deus Vult." It was composed by William Stromberg and performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra for the film Trinity and Beyond.

The DVD has all the music available to listen to as a special feature, or you can get the soundtrack on CD.

  • did he die?

  • stupid cocksucker.

  • you're so fun

  • this is human race. welcome.

watch pale blue dot. on youtube

  • pretty scary if you really think about what could happen

  • When I saw this film for the first time, the first though that came to my head was, "Man, this film is so *white*". The music. The footage. The commentary. Everything.

White people; we might not be "cool" or "hip" or "down wit it", but we're badass.

  • thats not a nuke, its a mexican food fart

  • Notice when the initial blast clears away, there's a battleship stern first VERTICAL in the centre column. These things weighed like 40,000 tons.

  • wow i didn't see that part before

  • That's the USS Arkansas, pitchpoled!

  • Battleship sucked like a toy. And it's only 20 kt while typical yield in US arsenal is 200 kt. happy new year!

  • Comment removed

  • @syndic

castle bravo had around 1000 times the yield.... can you imagine that?!

  • @syndic that battleship was the USS ARAKANSAS. and she was a 32000 ton wyoming class battle ship

  • pointless...I wonder what happened to the marine life in the local vicinity....and will happen to them for some time to come. Is this nuke site still cordoned off? I hope people don't go swimming there :(

  • People SCUBA dive the wrecks quite regularly, actually. (at least they did until the local charter operations had to shut down due to the ecomomy)

  • They were testing the effects of a nuclear explosion on naval ships. Specifically how much radiation, and battle damage to the fleet.

I read through the Baker report and there was extensive radioactivity to the ships due to the sea water, which was also radioactive.

  • that is fucked up. i do not approve. its beautiful though

  • baker was actually 23 kilotons.. not 21

  • wow..

    that's insane.

  • it,s a beautiful nuclear explosion

  • I like the music, where's it from?

  • The Nuclear bomb movie. Narrated by none other than Captain Kirk.

(You get 3D Specs with it too.)

  • It's kinda beautiful, in its horrible way.

BTW, looks like they made big ass (for its time) 21 megaton atom bomb yet still had to make countdown meter with a biro (these don't look like printed numbers, do they). Odd.

  • Fifth nuclear explosion of the "humanity", Baker isn't 21 megaton, it's "only" a 21 kiloton A-Bomb, so a little more than Hiroshima's or Nagasaki's. 21 megaton equals H-Bomb (and even more powerful than Castle Bravo test).

  • yeah a 21 megaton nuke would have been the second strongest device ever tested wouldnt it?

seeing as tsar bomba was the largest at 50 megatons

  • X-actly right. Right after Tsar Bomba, a 21 megatons would have been second.

But we can be at last quite impressed when we see the size of the mushroom cloud produced by Baker and its 21 kilotons. Try now to imagine what it would have been if it was a 21 megatons bomb, 1.000 times more powerful...

  • however, the united states did have a bomb that was capable of a 25 megaton yield, it was just never put to use
