  • Leaning back is preferable, otherwise hamstring's opposing tension limits quad strength. That's pretty much agreed on in the industry. (Personally, I also prefer extending the feet into a straight line with the lower leg, to take opposing tension off of the calves at the knee, but I don't see anyone else doing that. Why not?)

  • that gym looks great!!

  • so this excersise will help burn fat off of your lower abs and work your lower abs??

  • @awshop1995 lol !

  • @awshop1995 Not at all!

  • Actually hes wrong if you want to work your fast twitch fibres you need to lift heavy weight with explosive movement.

  • @thetampon23 I agree with that, I do think he was speaking to beginners though.

  • @t: Fast twitch is a misleading term. FT fibers kick in after the ST can no longer handle the resistance: If you work to failure, you'll work all fibers, FT & ST. The reason you can do more weight at explosive speeds is inertia & assistance from other muscles, not because of FT. Yes, if your priority is to lift as much as possible, (powerlifting, weightlifting), you must move fast, but there's no leg extension competition.

  • i found the work out plan from one of the biggest guys in my school lol and i didnt know what a Leg Extension was so thx :D

  • thanks

  • what if i don't want to look "nice and smooth" what if i want to look hard and grainy and very vascular should i add more weight and just focus on the top part and holding and squeezing?

  • @m: To be grainy & vascular, you must have 1/thin skin, 2/no fat between the muscle & the skin, & 3/be holding no water. To achieve this while also maintaining or adding great muscle mass requires, much heavy training, the required genetics, a high protein / low carb diet, steroids, growth hormone, insulin, & diuretics.

  • It's great that you are walking us through the exercises for each machine. The gym can be very initimidating, but this will help me tremendously to get started. Thanks, Jason!

  • I'm just glad that YOU are making a difference. I am nothing more than a teacher. It is YOU who has the power to change. =)
