If they're within distance, I tend to bite mine. If not, I press my finger against them. Might sound crazy, but it alleviates the pain for me. Also, the quickest way I've found to get rid of them, is when you brush your teeth, rinse your mouth with hot water. Make sure the hot water makes contact with the sore. I got one on Sunday, and by Tuesday, it was healing and it wasn't hurting anymore.

You may need to change toothpaste, if you are using one that contains sodium lauryl sulfate like Aquafresh Iso Active Whitening, discontinue and use regular toothpaste. I had that problem.

@maddwag11 I get mine when i am under stress too! However i get them all over my mouth and usually people dont get fever but i do. I get the fever first then the sores. I was told that my body produces the sores so that the fever i get cuz of stress has something to attack. Originally fever starts when the body has a virus, but on this case my body produces a virus so my fever has something to attack lol stupid body of mine. I want them to go away.

Anyone suffering from painful mouth and throat ulcers should do the following for relief. My mother suffered from mouth and throat ulcers for 20 plus years and cried many of nights as a result. My mom said this was a life saver and the only thing that has ever worked for her. For relief call your physician and ask him to call in Triamcinolone Acetonide Dental Paste USP 0.1 %. The paste comes in Rx only and in addition use Orajel to counter the pain, good luck.

Iv'e had at least four in my mouth at once. It really REALLY sucked. I usally get at least one per month.

Something I found out about them is that they are triggered from stress, and sometimes bad cuts inside your mouth.

The best way to get rid of them is to rinse with saltwater every night before you go to sleep so your tounge wont bother them.

I Hate canker sores also. If you get another one try this product called canker cover mine went away in about 24 hours. Also make sure you stop using tooth paste containing sodium lauryl sulfate. Hope this info helps in the future.
