the actual difference between a tornado and a lanspout is that a landspout is not asociated with a mesocyclone and thus usualy not able to be much stronger than F0 altough extreme landspouts have been recorded that last 15 minutes and were F3
That's a landspout. It's easy to tell because it's translucent and the laminar flow of the vortex. It's still considered a tornado though, and can be damaging.
That was definitely a supercell. I was on the same storm. Had a surface boundary that multiple supercells developed along during the day. Thing had a very nice meso. That tornado formed just south a very large wall cloud (which is out of frame).
Also, landspouts are technically tornadoes because they are in contact with the parent thunderstorm.
Landspouts are true tornadoes. While they most often times don't have a condensation funnel that extends up to the cloud, the actual vortex does. They form when vorticies, known as misocyclones get stretched by an updraft. These tornadoes only form on regions of wind shift.
Man it would be so cool if someone from the Jackass crew would ride a Honda 125 motorbike into that bugger.

@666motherfucker13 that and not associated with super cell activity. plus the difference in size and shape

how much damage can one produce?

Sorry, this wasn't a tornado. No supercell around. Tornadoes don't form in the conditions you spoke about. This was a landspout.

Excellent steady tripod-mounted video.
This was a tornado.
The dewpoint was too high at higher altitudes to form a condensation funnel.
Had the humidity been a little higher, the funnel probably would have extended to cloud base.
I'd rather see more funnel and less foreground. I would aim a little higher and frame with very little foregound in view.
Thank you for posting your interesting well done video.

Landspouts look cooler than condensation funnels, it's easier to see the roatation and the centre of the vortex.

actualy its called a tornado when its connected to a mesocyclone if not but it is still cloud based its called a landspout.
