I noticed that the MiG-35 had movable surfaces on the leading edge of the wing. I've never seen these on any other plane. What are the advantages of this?
all weapon systems as complicated has problems... yes Russian and Chinese designs have problems too... hence why they haven't made any production models and why F22 was made in limited numbers
they use the limited number of f22 for air superiority missions only... Libya was no threat to allied aircraft therefore f22 was not used.... they will if iran or north korea is needing to be bombed then f22 will be involved
@LouistheHedgehog to my knowledge only carrier based aircraft were used... but if airforce was used then they would have flown from Italy and refueled in flight... no need to gain air superiority though so why risk loosing most advanced fighter over hostile nation? to say a mechanical failure? no they going to save f22 for the most difficult missions only.

Plus, the planes could operate from Sicily, which is just to the north of Libia. And if tankers would be needed, they would have traveled along for the flight acrost the atlantic anyway.
FInally another one of the reasons why the F22 was not used was because of bleed air problems from the engines which kept causing accidents. But now the problem is fixed, but not for this conflict.

F15 has never been shot down in combat... unless mechanical failures count. F22 is not going to be used over a country like Libya because air superiority was not an issue... and F22 is top secret classified plane... the F15 is not so secret so mechanical failures in F22 would be a major problem for the military if one got in the wrong hands. it would be used against tougher countries with hardened anti aircraft systems
@gxbmb Incorrect. Jan 18, and Jan 19 1991 (from ground fire). One crew killed, one captured. April 7 2003 another was shot down from the 4th FW in Iraq - both crew killed. There's been a whole bunch of crashes and training accidents too.
They havnt lost one to another plane but the F15 HAS been shot down.

Yup I knew it... whats the ANGLE of the thrust vectors? I bet it doesnt matter. I wasnt for sure if the T-50 had it or not. I bet if you go so fast the thrust vectors point beyond a certain angle will probably throw you into a stall pulling up or going down? You would have to test it out. I bet this jet out turns the F22 no matter what, I can already tell it barrle rolls while turning is better than F22. Certain speeds I bet will stall the jet out due to momentum and the angle is to great.
Sexiest aircraft in the world, like MIG-29 or Su-47. Btw, many russians interceptors have great design. In USA I like just SR 71 Blackbird, its sexiest too. but on my preference I like Su-47.

Ehhh, American designed F22 and the new F35 has been shown that the stealth layer would be removed if under harsh weather conditions such as Siberia while the sovit ones don't... Also the entire American fleet was grounded once in the middle east due to 'unsuitable flying conditions'

This is like saying the American P-51 copied the German ME-109--about the same amount of similarity. @gxbmb Many of the problems weren't weapon related, like failures in the Oxygen Supply and the paint being vulnerable to rain.
It was problems like these that didn't allow the plane to be involved in the Libyan conflict.

Ehhh, American designed F22 and the new F35 has been shown that the stealth layer would be removed if under harsh weather conditions such as Siberia while the sovit ones don't... Also the entire American fleet was grounded once in the middle east due to 'unsuitable flying conditions'
Both have pros and cons, so don't overexaggerate like American stuff is so uber u can't even see it or soviet stuff can fly forever...

@eXraidedXx Google "F-22 compared to Sukhoi Pak-Fa" and set it to images. There are a number of sites that show both designs next to each other. It's very clear that they are very different designs. This is like saying the American P-51 copied the German ME-109--about the same amount of similarity. I think some fellow Americans like to believe the Russian copy everything so that they can convince themselves of our imagined technical and moral superiority.

Using your notion of a copy, then you would have to conclude that the F-15 is a copy of the Mig-25, since the Mig-25 came first, had not only 2 engines, but also twin tails and box/wedge-shaped intakes. You shot down the subsonic "stealth fighter" which is actually only a bomber because the pilot lest the bombay doors open creating a radar signature.
The F22 and F35 have less radar signature than the 35 year old design F-117.

The fact of the matter is were 15 years ahead in the field of stealth fighters. Im sure the Pak Fa will be equal to the F22 but overall I see them being a Tie.
