This video is so precious. May God bless Deacon John for making sure that Benny Spellman got inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame before he passed away. Being President of the musician's union is so key for Deacon John because he is so caring and he makes sure these special and so well deserved things happen! God bless you, Deacon John Moore! And may Benny Spellman R.I.P. I will ALWAYS remember his singing on, "MOTHER IN LAW" ... such a classic song!
In the early 1970s I worked with Benny Spellman at Anheuser-Busch on Race Street (just off Tchoupitoulas). At that time he was still a "ladies' man" and a sharp dresser. Always the salesman, when I married he gave us a case of A-B products as a wedding gift. What a wonderful voice!
Benny...thankyou and minit records for giving up a lot of good times...and for making Ernie K Doe's mother-in law a hit ....we all know you were mr. bass man on that...thanks and god bless and keep you
@swingrfd I was a teenager on the north east coast of the U.S. and will also always remember Benny Spellman. He was a class act and I loved his music! May he R.I.P. Also may God bless Deacon John Moore for his gentleness, kindness, warmth, compassion, as well as his talent. He is a true representative of the musicians of New Orleans as President of the New Orleans Musicians Union. I am sure he personally saw to it that this award was given to Benny during his time still on this earth.
this is great
