@dss103 Robotnik is a last name. "Eggman" IS Robotnik (the main villain of the Sonic games), and his grandfather (Gerald, the old guy who created Shadow) is also Robotnik. In America, the main villain was first called Robotnik, then later Eggman, and fans got upset. However, what they don't know is that over in Japan, he has ALWAYS had the nickname of "Eggman," meaning that technically the nickname Eggman did in fact come before he was simply known as Robotnik.

That was the official story when sonic first came out anyways, and Robotnik was supposed to be the only human on all of Mobius. Station square isnt on the same planet. The story of Sonic X goes as far as to explain that Robotniks experiment transported them there... I dont understand why the games (sonic adventure) didn't.

The machine scattered thousands of rings across the world too and Sonic beleived by collecting enough, he could transform Robotnik back to his old friend...
