  • I don't get it.

The "mark" isn't going to buy a shit piece of property he doesn't need or want, especially if it's in another state. I don't know what kind of "leads" they have, but I doubt anyone could sell on them.

  • Sorry but Draper kicks this guy's ass all day long now.

  • @rexkramer846 The movie is not about the Baldwin character, he is only on for a few minutes. The real salesman is the Pacino character.

  • whats the film called

  • @MegaMushface GlenGarry GlenRoss

  • @IamChrisLang River Oaks... all that shit.

  • Do you think he could have sold an Indian? Patel? These names keep coming up.

  • YOU DON'T LIKE IT LEAAAAAAAAAAVE! he is still sitting lol lol lol

  • ''Fuck you!'' That's my name!

  • @TheHerpaderpderp go fuk yourself litlle bitch

  • you know what it takes to sell real estate ? it takes brass ball to sell real estate !!

  • The D in AIDA is Desire not Decision. The A is for Action which is the Decision part. Great scene though. Will have to watch the film.

  • What movie did this clip come from?

  • @angelv89 Glengarry Glen Ross

  • Powershift3r

moving customer into fools area insults his intellect. It is far from partnership. And the watch shows that you take more money from a customers than you should.

  • @TheZorajk Haha, well, bluntly, customers ARE by and large "fools". That's why they need informed and helpful sales people to educate them on what they need and what they don't. I sell guitars, and the amount of misinformation many people come into the store with is just mind boggling, and I am genuinely happy to educate them whether they buy a guitar from me or not. I love sharing my knowledge, because it is my specialty, and free access to that knowledge is what I bring to society as sales.

  • I tried this speech with my employees at work and I got the shit kicked out of me.

  • @Zain844 Did you remember to tell them about the first prize?

  • @Zain844 LMFAO

  • @Zain844 did you show em' the steak knives?

  • @Zain844 LOL

  • @Zain844 lmao

  • @Zain844 Well, assuming that was at a McDonalds, it's no surprise. Seriously, if your employees didn't like it, tell them to hit the bricks and take their f-cking steak knife set with them! 2nd place is the first loser! H.M., Clio winner, but still driving a piece of s.h.i.t. car

  • dude i love this fucking movie...im an energy salesmen and this movie taught me alot this movie and boiler room

  • @SluttyChicksOnCam yet i would rather die in a fifty million diamond encrusted, fine crafted coffin then threw on a burner pile

  • @JamieKCH

    Why? You'd still be dead.

  • You can't sell me something I don't want to buy , period .

  • @koneye A real salesman convinces you that you'd be a fool if you didn't buy it. THEN you want to buy it, because who wants to be a fool? And he sold it to you.

  • yeah this is the american culture... if you have more youre better than anyone else...YOURE all about ipods and video games and shit....just sad.

  • Now THATS a motivational speech. THIRD PLACE YOU'RE FIRED!!!!!!

  • He ain't Tony Robbins! LOL!!!

  • Oh god, Alec Baldwin. * orgasm*

  • @SoooooRich, don't worry about arguing with people who do not understand that expensive watches will work better than a non-expensive watch. I am convinced lots of people who don't see the point in expensive things that are made better think like that because they feel they cannot attain them.

  • coffe is for closers

  • One of the best scenes of all times. The motivation scene. It always gets me. The idea is to treat people like shit coz thats the only way they can survive in this harsh world.

  • How FUCKING RETARDED should you be to buy a watch that costs more than a car. Capitalism makes idiots out of people.

  • @gkosev j.g. wentworth "it's your money, use it when you need it"

  • @gkosev People who drive hyundais always feel that way.

  • @gkosev Just because you would not spend lots of money on a watch does not make it ''retarded''.

Don't be narrow-minded about other people's choices just because you would not spend it. I would not buy an iPad because I think it is too expensive for me, but plenty of people do and they are not retarded for it.

  • @gkosev Watches are a sign of taste and social status. When you're making almost a mil a year, people are by nature more likely to take what you say seriously. That same rule goes for business transactions. When you're negotiating a high-stakes business deal, your adversary probably doesn't know how much you make. He does know how much that luxury watch goes for. If your watch costs more than someone's car, by wearing it to the deal, he can know exactly how serious you really are.

  • what movie is this

  • @ilovenick1234567890 Glengarry Glen Ross

  • the bmw line wuz disgustin haha

  • sounds like my boss lol

  • alec was perfect for this role

  • you see this watch cost more then your car

  • Aha so that's where Monkey Dust Got the sketch from...Incidentally..what a load of old bollocks...2011...Time to watch zeitgeist and read some chomsky

  • @matt301273 and where is it going to take you?

  • Alec Baldwin is a fucking G

  • You can sell stuff on Usabids.Net

  • fuck you, that's my name!!

  • They FINALLY found footage of LEVENE breaking in after ALL these years! View it on my page! UNEARTHED FOOTAGE!!!

  • @bbear1994

    you fucked up the line...

  • ((((((((( HOT SELLER )))))) A very hot selling product being sold door to door worldwide right now is The REBAR Door Security Device by kickproofcom based in Surrey, BC. People are becomming less likely to let strangers inside their home, so why not sell them what they want! Something that keeps unwanted people out! The "at the door" demonstration takes 2 mins or less. Easy sale-Excellent profit margins-Low Investment-Easy to recruite new dealers. Call 1-888-357-0459 to get started right away.

  • Nice. Try looking at "how to make amazing art work" it's awesome!!

  • The leads are obviously weak. Typical sales manager mentality that every human being should buy from you or it's YOUR fault. I"ve looked at cars, for example, many times with no intent to buy. Just looking. The salesmen probably got raked over the coals because I "walked". But NOBODY was ever gonna sell me cars those days. Only a dishonest shyster could thrive in such unreasonably demanding situations.

  • And this is why car salesmen and salesmen in general are the scum of the earth.

  • @Elazul2k Hey Dipshit EVERYONE is a Salesman.

You have a GF or a Wife? You SOLD her on yourself.

    You have a job?

You SOLD yourself to your Boss and convinced him to hire you!

    Life IS selling.

  • @455Transam Guessing your a scumbag salesman then... lol loser.

  • @Elazul2k I don't have to GUESS.... I KNOW you're too ignorant to understand my point! LOL!! AND you're probably too DENSE to negotiate yourself a good deal on ANY product that's why you're bitter little man. LOL!

  • @455Transam Oh I understand your point. However, the difference is morals. Professional salesmen have NONE. Also, they are fairly stupid as you have proven. Otherwise, they would have chosen a better career.

  • @Elazul2k Bullshit.....yeah I'm in Sales, and I don't LIE or sell ANY product unless I KNOW it's a good quality product. I REFUSE to sell shit, also I don't want a bad rep for selling shit.

Are there scumbag Salesmen? Of course their are just like there are scumbag Cops or Doctors or Lawyers or Mechanics or people in ANY profession.

MY point is, don't label a whole profession as "scumbags" becasue everyone is different.

  • @455Transam What's scary is that people actually think this movie is an instruction video on how to be a salesman.

  • @Zain844 Right.....Alec Baldwin is either playing a REAL Dickhead who would sell his Mother's Soul to the Devil or he's just trying to be a hard ass to motivate them.......I bet it's the former though.

I've been in sales for over 20 years and I know Assholes just like the character Baldwin is playing, they might be rich but they're shallow, bitter,,arrogant, angry men.

  • @455Transam Al Pacino's character is no better this movie makes salesmen look like sociopaths.

  • @455Transam you should add misogynistic along with being angry, arrogant shallow and bitter.

  • @Zain844 Actually, if you know much about sales there's actually a lot to be learned in this movie. How to win friends and influence people just isn't one of the lessons.

  • @SoooooRich Why would you buy a watch that costs more then a car? that's just dumb,

and what's wrong with driving a Hyundai? They make good cars.

  • @Zain844 I was teasing about the Hyundai, but why do people insist on calling someone dumb because they can afford something that someone else can't? How many people feel dumb when they buy an iphone for $500. Do you know that's what some people pay in rent per month? And depending on the kind of car one can afford, that phone may have cost more than someone's car.

  • @SoooooRich You are an idiot because you are spending money on something that is no different from something that's cheaper other then the fact that other companies place value on it.

a $500 iphone has more features then a regualar cellphone thus it makes sense to spend more money on it. my $40 casio watch can probably do more then your overpriced Rolex.

    Enjoy your shiny overpriced crap.

  • @Zain844 Haha. I guess there's no sense in talking to you because you're so much smarter than me. Go check and see what your $40 Casio is worth today, and then Google what gold is selling for per OUNCE, then tell me there's no difference. I'm sorry you're so envious of wealthy people. If you log off now, you can still get to the convenience store in time to buy your lottery ticket. LOL Bye.

  • @SoooooRich and the price of silver, but hes a socialist or she, even today someone said "whats the point making profit" i said fuck off! no time for such ppl.

  • @yoyuepz Exactly. Here's a twist of irony - Liberals are quick to accuse Capitalists of being "greedy", but do you know who the greediest people are? Liberals. I don't even like to use the word "greedy" because that's all relative, but if there is a definition I'd give to greed, I'd say it's wanting things without being willing to work for them.

  • @Zain844 My point is that it's all relative. I've made a lot of money and bought many things I assumed I never would, because the cost was a drop in the bucket compared to what I was making.

  • @SoooooRich doesn't matter how much money you have.

    a watch is a watch.

  • @Zain844 If you feel that way, fine. How far can we take this? A phone is a phone, right? A car is a car. Why have different ones then? At the end of the day, people buy a combination of what they want and what they can afford. It doesn't make them dumb because they can afford more than you.

  • @SoooooRich You can tell the difference between a $100,000 Ferrari and a $10,000 Toyota The difference in performance in features You can tell the difference between a small house and a big mansion, more space bigger rooms a pool etc. ,What is the difference between a expensive watch and a cheap one? Very little.

You can try and justify it by saying its a drop in the bucket for you but its still impractical and you are still an idiot. and all you are doing is justifying your own vanity.

  • @Zain844 First, make up your mind what point you're arguing. First you said there's no reason a watch should cost more than a car, now you're saying there's very little difference between an expensive watch and a cheap one. I guess you're not aware that cost of gold per ounce has gone up far more than the cost of a Swatch.

Secondly, I find it ironic that people who are quick to call someone an idiot can rarely carry on an adult conversation without name calling. Why not use your intellect? Hmm

  • @Zain844 Let's just argue the pure merits of your argument - that what you spend on something somehow equates to intellect. Do you then feel that people who live in trailer homes are dumb?

  • @455Transam its like saying the FDA protects the public from bad products. We all know they dont 'cause they are corrupt. You may be honest, but most are very dishonest.

  • 3:56

After Alec Baldwin says his brass balls line, that old guy facepalmed like, "Who put those fucking brass balls there.."

  • gimme this guy in sales dept. will you!

  • What a powerful fucking scene. And what he is preaching in this scene is 100% the truth !!!

  • what's 4th prize?

  • This guy vs Gordon Gekko...make it happen UFC.

  • @mookixox This guy makes 970.000 bucks in a year. Gekko got 800.000 in a days pay. Nuff said.

  • @controversyking The celebrities that you hear about do. The ones who lead happy lives are not mentioned in the news.

  • Gabourey Sidibe (Precious) A-B-C A-Always B-Be C-Cooking! Always Be Cooking! ALWAAAYS Be Cooking!

  • hahaha way 2 funny...

  • hahahaha Ed Harris got fuckin' owned!

  • Always Be Closing...

  • Comment removed

  • @dahmeredsback It still makes sense if you know the film tbh.

  • @ChanticleerHegemony

well of course it does if you know the film...duh...

  • you hear me you f--kin fa-gots? lol wow

  • 80k......that is my name ...lol

  • what is the name of this movie??

  • @stone35077:

It is called 'Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)' . Those two names are the names of the developments the guys are trying to sell. It's from a David Mamet play from 1984 that was made into a movie - the play was very popular and actors were very eager to get any of the parts in the film.

This monologue by Baldwin was written especially by Marmet for Baldwin's part you see here. It is not in the play.

This is his best work and it's the best speech on selling that there is.

  • great example of making change when change is hard by Chip & Dan... Direct the rider, motivate the elephant, shape the path.

    Wax on wax off.

  • Warning: if you are a Sales Manager and if you think by showing this to your struggling sales team "it will inspire them" - you are WRONG. It will show them how weak you are and how you have to relay on dated cliches because you dont have ideas of your own. Basically the team will lose what little respect they had for you in the first place- and "fuck you" will be your new name - be warned!

  • alec baldwin is the greatest actor ever hes a member of F.A.G.

  • I had a high school teacher that acted like that.

  • You hear me you fuckin' faggots?

  • The name of the movie is in the description.

  • this speech is nothing more than a collection of one cliche after another

  • @js002003 Yeah. The cliches were created by this movie.

  • The leads are weak.

  • What is the name of this movie?

  • @unmilfuerte Jaws

  • you here me you fucking faggots???

  • @gtijerino That line cracks me up every time; the way he says 'fuckin' faggots"

  • @gtijerino Lmaoo

  • Fuck you go home and play with your kids.

  • " good father? f** y88 go home and play with your kid" lol! classic!

  • whats the name of this movie

  • funny man, kit true though people need this to succeed in life aspire to inspire before u expire

  • THIS IS INSPIRATIONAL. FULL STOP.

  • oh have I got your attention now?

yes you have mr baldwin, yes you have.

  • Love it.. ABC and F*** Y**

  • "b be" lulz

  • wheres the ending gone? It's misses the bit where Baldwin says to Jack Lemon "You call yourself a salesman you son of a bitch!"...Classic movie and very well adapted screenplay

  • lol this scene makes sales so dramatic.

  • But that's what sales is about. It's all surface material, Lexus driving bull, but...if you don't like it...you should really get another job. No shame in not being a salesman

  • greatest cast of actors

  • RegistrationCop: You definitely didn't get it! It is not about the money, it's about the accomplishment!

  • I like how he says, "You're nothing. I have an 80,000 + whatever amount sports car. You drove a hyundai." Ok... Like that really matters about what type of person you are in life. That's the delusion of America and people in general. All fucked up. And they think money is everything. It most definitely isn't. Don't be deceived by this corporate bull shit. They try to shove it down your throat any time possible.

  • @RegistrationCop

You're taking Baldwin's speech at face value? Have you ever read a book in your life?

  • @RegistrationCop That's the point. Blake is a character created as the embodiment of what you have just said (well, what you said 8 months ago XD)

  • @RegistrationCop

LOL - so get a different job you numbskull, business is business, how dumb can you be

  • This EPIC scene deserves to be up in its entirety. Its a shame the video starts well into the scene.

  • OMG, and the scene ends too early as well! It misses one of the best parts when Alec puts his watch back on and answers moss' question.

  • Comment removed

  • I guess that's the kind of training and motivational talk lower level sales people would get. Making them sell less than more. Don't you love Hollywood?

  • @mszlazak

You are humorless! And wrong, sometimes a screaming "jerk" can be a good coach, like in football

  • Which movie is that?
