This chap seems so nice and innocent ...taking the time to demonstrate his abilities and even attempting to explain them...Might not have all the techniques of a "kung fu master" but definately has the proper attitude, heart, and benevolence which is certainly the embodiement of a champion martial artist. :)

@MDNSBS I agree with your other comment, but I disagree with your term "Americanized", as well as you saying spinning a sword like that is never used and is pointless. It's perfectly practical (yes its wasted motion) for distraction, or if you're trying to defend against multiple targets (a flurry of rocks, you still have SOME small chance of deflecting them, and i'll take that). A large portion of martial arts is misdirection, so while I'm swinging the sword like a lunatic, I'm setting you up.

@MDNSBS There are techniques (and weapons) designed specifically for the purpose of misdirection. Of course you're not going to want to wear yourself out swinging it like an idiot, exposing all your vital organs and sacrificing your stance lol, but some weapon flourishes serve purpose, and the attack is hidden behind it (or retreat). To keep the opponent off balance. If someone attacks straight on, as you suggest, opening yourself to the sidestep means certain death. Animals do it as well.

Everything is made paletteable in movies for ignorant people like you, because it's "shiny" so you'll watch it. Real kung fu is effective, it's the basis for your modern martial arts. @ahmednabil I teach Kung Fu... And we use Katana... What about it? In fact, we use all weapons. Kung Fu is a way of life, not just a martial art. We make them extensions of our bodies. We use ropes, bricks, stools, brooms, staplers, anything around us, even the hats on our head (obviously when we're not in uniform). No one particular group of persons inherits domain of a particular move or weapon set, we're all human. Yes, the guy in this video is full of shit lol (obviously), but it's not irony

well then its not kung fu (what you teach) if you teach katana too , call it a form of self defence , but katana is designed for kenjutsu and kenjutsu is only possible with a katana , you can swing a katana , but its not kenjutsu then , you can do a long sword form with a katana (not really) but you cannot call it kung fu .

@ahmednabil Kung fu has many forms, there's no reason it can't incorporate a Katana sword. Kung fu is a system of styles, and a way of life. Not just martial arts, it's continual practice to make yourself better both outside and within. By your logic, as soon as you pick up an object, you're no longer using Kung Fu if you use that object as a weapon. Kung Fu is not one specific style. Something a lot of people get confused. I don't mean any insults or disrespect, just asking for understanding :)

he's making plenty of mistakes, and being able to twist a weapon and show of with it is just worthless in a fight. Of course I can show of, but when I'm sparring, the show comes second and the making sure I don't get hit and getting them down comes first.
