Fucking hell... a true connection with Metallica! Who in the entire universe would think that existed? I would've flipped seeing jazz/reggae icon Stu Copeland from The Police playing 'So What' with his 'classical grip' on one night, and on another see Lars Ulrich thrashing the same song at 199 beats per minute. Damn, the world is small.
man he's a little cheater ... he did the same thing with tama drums.... he send them all the records of his band that they made before he joined nad when they were still famous to get an endorsement... but damn that's smart to do that
funny reading people dis bob costas here. i used to loathe the guy until after about the 20th time i watched this show (late 80s). among all TV interviewers, i now place him near the top. the guy was always crazily prepared and DID get the humor of those he interviewed. once you got over his creepiness, "Later" was one of the rare shows to look forward to each night. it was also one of those shows where the crew was allowed to laugh in the background -- usually a good sign.
I saw an interview wtih Copeland years ago (I admit I'm getting old ha ha) where he discussed a number of drummers including Neil Peart and the gist was how HE was amazed at Peart's playing style, precision, and, speed, etc., Does anyone know of this? I have looked but cannot find it. I just thought it amazing the respect he showed for Peart since I thought Copeland was fantastic and I had seen the police live in 1979. After seeing that interview, I gained a greater appreciation 4 Rush & Peart
@dietergoodbyesvector Peart and Stew Copeland are my all time favorite drummers. I love music but technically I don't know much more than the layman about drums. They both just sound better than damn near anyone ever. That simple.
Yeah, I wish he would've done more regular drumming, studio drumming, playing with other bands and all that. It seems he spent a lot of time songwriting, maybe producing. A lot of talent went to waste.

Is he trying to put on a british accent or something? His accent sounds american with a slight touch of british in it.
DihDin 3 years ago
Stewart Copeland was born in Virginia; his father is American, his mother is Scottish; and he's lived everywhere from Beirut, to Egypt, to England.
It's quite a unique accent.
