This song makes me cry when I watch this movie. Of course, when he turns back in the gobstopper to Willy Wonka and he wins the contest where they go on the Wonka-Vator, at the end when Mr. Wonka (Gene Wilder) closes out the film telling him, "They lived happily ever after!" I never fail to burst out in tears because you know that Charlie is a good and pure innocent child who had it rough and then he finally catches a break. It's a tear jerker and it's a wonderful movie.

@daytraderfbf It was 1971, I don't think food pantries were common then, I think in the 2005 movie they mention going to it a few times

When I was smaller I didn't like this part of the movie, but now I love, love, love it! I got mushy over the years!
