  • ive been type1 for 36 yrs,and im doing great but its alot of work.good luck all diabetics, keep your blood pressure checked and a1cs in good order.

  • the hardest thing to get used to is the needles? its the low blood sugars thats hard to get used to u cant get used to them. nice video tho

  • I hate pens. I like the old fashioned needles instead.

  • @desdes24 i believe you i went thru the same process but around 9 months it stoped working you should look up honeymoon period so you can find out for yourself

  • type 1 diabetes mus inject? i just got diabetes Type 1 a month ago i inject insulin for a month and after that my proff asked mi to stop injections and started to giv mi oral medication and now my blood sugar is completely normal. im jus 15yrs old.

  • @desdes24 your in the honeymoon period

  • @lace0mafia nope im a special case my doctor said probably my pancreas in tat period was breaking down but i went to the hospital in time to inject insulin for a month he said probably its like u hav a mc for a month and ur slowly recovering

  • @lace0mafia what i said is true. if you dun believe.Forget it. doctor said my diabetes is a weird case. inject insulin for a month and all of sudden change to oral medication they cant confirm what type of diabetes am i he said starting i was type 1 now i am type 2 .. im confused

  • @lace0mafia i can only say its a miracle.

  • @lace0mafia if i u still don't believe after what i told u.then i cant be bothered with u.I don't want to start a debate session. You do not have the need to reply bye.

  • Thanks a lot for this video. It saved me a lot of trouble. Actually, my lantus pen stopped working today and I am using a reusable pen, so I called lantus manufacture and they told me I will get a new one in like 2-3 working days. So I was thinking about some other alternative and didn't know that I can actually use the lilly pen, which I was using for humalog before and didn't need it anymore until now. If I wouldn't have come across this video I don't know how I would go about it. Thanks heaps

  • it's not easy, but i applaud you for taking care of yourself because you will live long because of that. technology keeps getting more advanced with the management with type 1, and I'm so thankful to be in 2010 instead of 50 years ago.

  • I just got type 1 Diabetes.

I believe in the future there will be a cure for Diabetes

    I use NovoRapid and Lantus

  • Loled , i only use 3mm needles or 5mm , you use 8 and above =p i inject in my belly

  • Wow! You really know how to give injections. Well, I don't have diabetes so I'm learning how to inject my father in law since he lives with me. I never learned how but I'm learning. Your video really helped.

  • there are two types of DM it is type 1 and type 2 type 1 is more severe it is hereditary on the other hand type 2 is mild which the book says that you can get it when you reach the age of 40+ but my clinical instructor told me that you can have diabetes type 2 as early as age 30+ because of the lifestyle.. so exercise and proper diet helps a lot to prevent type 2 DM...

  • im sorry to ask this if it offends you im sorry but how do you get diabetes?? hereditary?

  • there is no answer to that... it can be by heredity, but it can also be a sudden change. like me, my family has NO HISTORY of type 1 diabetes, except for me. i am the first one. i hope that helps...

  • no offend at all , diabetes doesen't have a reason to put on it. nobody can say "you did that , thus you got diabetes" . they do say that high-weighted people get diabetes easily though. i got type 1 randomly when i was around 1 and a half , in january i'm 14

  • Was diagnosed with a Type 1 diabete back in October 2007. I am 16 now and injecting myself insulin 3 times a day.

It sucks, but at the same time it's not that big of deal (at least at my eyes). Injecting became such a natural thing now, that I don't even remember my life before my diagnosis.

By the way, you're pretty good looking ;)

  • aggreed at the last sentance *cough* your lucky that its only been 2 years mate. i've got diabetes 10 years longer then you =p and i'm 14. injecting is not to painfull for me though.

  • I hit a blood vessel lastnight, scary as hell.

  • holy i had tht too 0_0

    it just strted ...POURING

n it waz on my stomach too, wiz the pump injections.

so how u stop it? :)

  • U know I would love to hear from diabetics whom take care of theirselves=keep themselves alive but who still live life. Living in the rockstar world but no health insurance. How does one ever become controlled when they are their own doctor?

  • hey...where in canada do you live...coz i am guessing you must be living in Canada coz ur using the mmol.and the insulin you use is novorapid which is called novolog in states.let me know...thanx

  • i use novarapid , and i live in begium

  • great video , crongats!!

i am also a diabetic since i was 17 , now im 21 .i really take care and rarlyl my sugar goes hi(150-160 mg/dl).

about the pump ,it s good for people with not so active life ,i waz sugested to use one but my daily activity can t permit it , so i ramaned on the injections wich in my case are the best.

  • that low?lawd , i've had diabetes since i was a baby of 1 and a half years old , i'm almost fourteen now , i've had diabetes for around 12 and a half years thus. my sugars alot higher , its mostly 300 or above that i call 'hi'

  • R u going to go on a pump any time soon? I am on multiple daily injections right now but my doc said that in august i can go on either the omnipod or the medtronic. Great vids!

  • In reality, if you want the best BG control, you won't use a set insulin regimen. It will vary from day to day depending on diet and activity, and general health. Every diabetic should bolus fast acting insulin before every meal to cover the expected carbs, even if you are just grabbing a muffin, you just cover the carbs. I inject insulin anywhere between 6 and 12 times a day depending on how many times I eat "out of bounds". I love my food. Your basal injections can vary as well.

  • Hey,

    I'm 14, i have had Diabetes since i was 4..

I suppose it is better to get it young, because you know no other way of life .

Maybe we could chat sometime? You seem pretty cool!

And that sucks.. you were diagnosed so late on.. it must have been hard, how did you find out?

And yup! Im always high for some reason.. no matter what i do, i hate it! What about you ??

  • i totally fund out i had diabetes by accident, my family was planing a trip to china n while checkin if i had hipititus immune i discovered tht my bg is lyk 16 sumthng.

my sugars r always high too n i thnk itz cus we'r teenagers n wiz all the hormones n stuff...yeah itz pretty hrd to "understnd" our blood sugars.

but aftr playin watr polo every mornin my sugars r becumin more LOW than high which in sum way is a gud thing cus this way u cud just hav snacks to control it.

    :D

  • What country do you live in?

We use those numbers aswell, but i thought in the States you used the numbers like 100,200 etc.. Whereas here we use the smaller numbers.

And that's a good idea about Water polo!

  • ur the smartest dieabetic I have ever seen on you tube :) i would say ever met, but i have never met you lol ahhaah you are cool in my book. i take shots too, im 23. i've had dieabetis since i was 9. I wish there was a cure , but you know as well as i do "they" always say they have one and a couple of people who tried it have been cured by this maricle treatment, but for those other people we have to wait. I heard this one dotor made a cure out of lettuce... can't wait to try that one lol
