I ran 14.20s @ 98.5 mph on street tires at Speedworld a few weeks back in my 5.0 notch and the other night I raced a red '05 - '09 V6 Mustang and I barely beat him. I raced him from 40 mph to over 100 mph and I only pulled one car on him. I couldn't really hear him but i'm pretty sure he was trying to tell me it was stock. I don't think stock 4.0s run 98 mph in the 1/4 here in Phoenix lol. I'm thinking it either had a mild supercharger kit or a small shot of nitrous (60 - 75). Any ideas?

so the standard mustang has an advantage without a supercharger

so if a civic beats a mustang and both are standard the problem is with the mustang driver

not really dude. Look at actual 1/4 mile times for both cars. V6 stangs are slow as Fu#%. They range alot between 16 and 17. That is a stock single cam Civic Ex time range. Now, look at the GT mustang. They range from around 14.5 to high 15's. Thats about stock GSR's, Rsx T-S, Type-R's, etc... and they got better handling. So id rather smoke a stang and save gas at the same time. The new 2011 V6 stang has about the same HP as a V8 stang did before 2010. Id say thats pretty sad

@omsaj891 an 05-09 V6 should lose to a stock 06-10 Si. i see it all the time. plus, the V6 has just about the same power as the Si. V6=210hp Si-197. plus the V6 is 550lbs heavier, which actually makes a noticeable difference. 06+ Si's weigh ~400lbs heavier than my 00 civic coupe, and with the same motor, i murder them. i guess it will hurt peoples feelings when i say that my 184whp 00 coupe can EASILY beat 05-09 and 2010 GT's. beat my friends 07 GT by about 3-4 car lengths up to 150MPH.

@Punisher7121 that was whp. the motor makes 200 stock. and i never mentioned it was a 1/4 mile. my races against 05-09 and 2010 GT's were from a 40 roll. and yes, i did beat them all with ease. that was just 184whp, while losing power. stock k20a2's dyno around 177-181whp stock. i finally got an exhaust (still restricting me from more power) and dynoed 204whp. its a fact, that when swapping a k20 in my year civic or older, that you should beat 2010 GT's and below.

@Punisher7121 theres other bolt-on k20's in coupes like mine, but to be exact, one guy owns an Si version, which weighs 100lbs heavier than my EX. he dynoed 210whp, and he ran 12.9 with full interior. another is a 93 hatch with a k20a2 and 214whp, and he ran 12.8 with full interior. and i know some of the people with the high 12, or LOW 13 sec k20 swapped civic with just bolt-ons. most people make 220-230whp with just bolt-ons. its VERY doable to run high 12's.

@omsaj891 all my friends 07 GT had was a full exhaust. i beat another 05-09 GT with full bolt-ons by about a fender til we had to slow down. plus, the V6 is only governed to 113mph. the Si is 133mph. thats all governed though. they can both go faster. also, a 96-00 civic EX should beat 94-98 V6's. i did it all the time with my 00 EX with its original SOHC motor that had an intake and header.

@shwag8585 everything ive said is true. i dont need to prove it. the specs on the car say its governed to about 133MPH. thats not its limit, but its the "governed" limit. an 05-09 GT is governed to 149mph. ive driven hondas (civics to be exact) for 11 years. i know their motors, and what just about any of these cars can do. if it hit whatever limit, or did something esle out of the ordinary when stock, then maybe there is just something special about the one you bought, or someone else bought.

i dont Know why everyone hates on the v6s also. i have a v6 and im damn proud of it. right now i have a 2000 v6 auto Mustang (custom o/r h-pipe, long tube headers, slp loudmouth resonators, Cold Air IntaKe, 65mm Throttle body, 4.10 gears, Under Drive Pulleys, Diablo sport tuner, Performance Chipe, T-locK, and NOS 75 shot) i can taKe GT's and its still way better on gas than any GT's i LOVE GT's dont get me wrong but i wanted a 6er for gas, insurance, and wanted a challenge getting horsepower :)

i got an 09 si, and the stock exhaust is amazing sounding, nothing rice about it, but ive heard a new exhaust would help my hp alot. i just dont want it to sound like shit, and i know it will.

The exhaust upgrade for the civic is minimal by itself. It will only give you an average of 3-4 hp gain. But when you are getting into adding a header and an intake you will notice more of a gain compared to stock.

And if you are looking for that good tone try magnaflow or vibrant . those are my favorites and give a close to stock sound while driving normal then wake up in vtec. just look around and find what you like.

u know whats funny everyone likes to hate on the v6 mustangs, but the reality supercharger run about 3 grand and u will have the same hp as gt but u put 3 grand of bolt on in a gay ass rice burner ur maxed out. a supercharged v6 mustang is just a minor bolt on mod with plenty of more mods to come i seen a supercharged stang almost completley stock with a supercharger pullin 350 hp now that aint bad especially knowin u can slap another 100 hp with bolt ons. Honda Civic (none vtec) = 127hp

Honda Civic Vtec = 160-170hp

ok no many people think that all mustang V6 are the same, wrong

Mustang V6 (1998 and lower) = 150hp

Mustang V6 (1999 - 2010) =200hp

The hondas will beat the 150 hp mustang due to weight to horsepower ratio.

But get into the 200hp V6 and the will beat the hondas. Vtec hondas will put up a nice race in the beginning but do to low hp, the 200hp mustangs will pull away, cause it has higher top end.

@v6mustangluv01 I own a 4.0l and not always. I raced my buddies a 07 Civic Si and he beat my stock (at the time) 2007 manual v6 by a little. Because the new Si has a LSD so even though its a FWD dropping the clutch from say 4k gives a better launch than the Mustang. The mustang only gets power to one wheel so dropping the clutch at all is almost worse. But a second run were he didn't drop the clutch my stang beat him by about a full cars length. This civic isnt a SI though that's its first prob.
