I bought in-the-canal HA's from Beltone in 1997. I'm still using the one in my right ear, and it still works! The cost back then was $2200 apiece, and the Beltone audiologist was honest with me and said the cost is high because they don't expect the user to ever buy another one (I asked for clarification, and he said it meant the users are elderly and may pass on....). I have had superb service over the years. My current ReSound Ziga BTE, bought in 2008 for the left ear, is failing. Cost $1700.
In both cases they tried for almost two years to adjust to get rid of feedback but no good. On the last set I was told they had telcoil which I found out later they do not. Also on the last set after almost two years of feedback, the audiologist said they were not adequate for my hearing loss and I needed to buy a better suited pair. My hearing had not changed in this time. When I complained to Beltone, basically what I got was "Too bad, buy another pair". I just did, but not Beltone.
Don't buy Beltone, their audiologist lie, misrepresent their product and Beltone DOES NOT stand behind their product. I've bought 2 pair ($9000 dollars worth) in the past five years and they are were trash from the start). Shame on Beltone for the first time, shame on me for being coned the second time.
@jljones36420 Can you tell me more about this product? And your experaince? I'm just beginning to investagate aids and the prices are mind numbing along with all the other nonsense. What a ripoff. Did you know that according to Consumer Reports, there is a 117% mark up! Well, anyway, I'm very interested in your experiance...do tell.
@billmaghan You should not fear anyone seeing you with a hearing aid. I am PROUD to have hearing aids that assist me in hearing. (How else can you communicate!?) I was about 49 when I got my first set of hearing aids, 14 years ago - probably should have had them from the age of 10 on, but that's another story. ... And Yes, hearing aids are nearly invisible these days.

Are they really "nearly invisable?" If some one saw me with hearing aids I would just die!
