one of my favorite scenes from my all time favorite movie. Her last angel disappears with the lighting of the cigarette. Ive never watched a film that took me from one normal, stable state of mind at the beginning to being ripped apart piece by piece and reassembled upside down in my chair. Art that causes this without the assistance of drugs is truly remarkable.
This was a neat, engrossing movie. I love David Lynch's song here, very talented guy. It perfectly captures the mood of the film at this scene, the saying goodbye to any semblance of innocence that is left forever. There's a YouTube video of a guy playing this song on solo piano which is really nice. Beautiful composition.
@sadieviction a number of reasons, she's mouning the loss of her father, her protector. remember, she has discovered he and BOB are the same, and the father she once knew has long gone. also, she is crying because her angel has gone, along with her innocence. lastly, she knows she is going to die very soon, and is crying for the loss her mother, best friend and secret lover will experience.
even though I love this song its still one fucking depressing song. Warning do not listen to this song holding a gun in you hands you just might go a head and do it.
I can't take it no more the emotionaly hurt.I have seen both of you comment that you 2 say SORRY,but the words are easy to describe, but not enough to catch me.
In my life is a lot happend and now also so much stuff i can handle it.
I have asking both of you to sending me a honestly truth letter about question.
It is for me not easy, because of the many unrealistic manor seducing me instate from a honestly coherntly letter.
There has been petitioning in trying to get the full movie issued on DVD as they shot almost twice the footage than used. The second hope is that they will include the unused scenes as "bonus" tracks after the theatrical version on DVD.
However often I watch Lynch's series (Twin Peaks), then switch on to 'Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me', such scenes as this invariably bring a lump to my throat. Such is Lynch's effect, everything so perfect : angle, light, colour, character shining though face- and : the music!.. There's a tragic side to 'Fire Walk With Me', which wasn't so overwhelming in the series (which had comedy, too).
Both are Lynch at his creative best. And Sheryl Lee... Pure, yet stained- her face such a complex mix.
Watching this scene makes me want to reach into the screen, grab her and get her the hell out of there. How can you not feel for this girl. Such a tragedy. But that's what makes this film so great. Thank God it's fiction.
Your comment made an excellent topic for a debate and I made an attempt to reply to you, but unfortunately my message exceeded the 500 character limit and no matter how much I edited it I could not make it fit. This is just another example of the stupidity of those who run YouTube and the other social networks on here. Not much room on here for intelligent conversation.
This music is always the music I play with insomnia at 2 am. It describes trouble at night in a humble way . Like how its such a beautiful song at Laura's breakdown
I've just finished watching the movie too, and I'm sure that it`s not imposible to understand a lot of without the show. But, indeed, maybe it`s very useful having watched other films of the maestro Lynch.
The scene where Julee Cruise sings this song is the one of the many tops. I love Laura.
I've just finished watching the movie Fire walk with me for the first time. So wonderful song this one! I really suffered with Laura Palmer in this scene, the movie was just great! Everybody NEEDS to see it!
I just want to add that you have to see the show before you see the movie, otherwise you won't understand a thing. But I totally agree that everybody should see it.
I was bawling throughout this whole scene... it's the mix of the song and Laura crying. I mean... during some parts of the movie you just HATE Laura... but here you suffer with her and you love her too.
I so love this song

Ah, coming to realize things, the world coming into perspective - your 'self' coing into perspective. Then you light a cigarette...
Lynch knows a lot more about human life than he's given credit for.

Lynch & Badalamenti, such a mighty duo. They always lead you to the
the very depth of a tormented soul where you're able to touch the essence
of the darkest beauty and the most violent tenderness. Formidable!
