IntrepidKartRacer: That's not the safety crew, it's the corner workers. We're more or less forbidden to go past the walls these days. They did what they were supposed to do -- they made contact with the driver to assess his general condition and called in the cavalry....the guys in the IMSA trucks.
I want to get into Star Mazda..I know i could do good..its just I dont know how to get spotted..I race 125cc Shifters right now..I guess go to Skip Barbour?
pretty much. Jim Russell racing schools isnt a bad option, you can step up into their cars. the mazda motorsports ladder is definately a good option though. you race stock motos or ICC's? what series?
gotcha. how long did you have to do like club sprint races and stuff before WKA would give you your road race shifter license? you race your mod-moto in the CIK 125 class?
More understeer, I think. Look at the position of the hands vs. the direction of the car. My teammate (Alex Ardoin, Mundill Racing) was right behind me; about to put me a lap down. I allowed myself to get distracted - a car width off-line,into the marbles, and onto the wet painted curbing. Then it was one-hop off the gravel trap and into the wall. Rookie mistake.
No, this is racing. Alex went on to a hard fought 3rd place with a setup that was less than ideal for the part wet/part dry conditions. If you watch the Speed coverage of the event, Alex really drove the wheels off the car. Mundill Racing was very professional and got the car rebuilt in time for Laguna Seca ... just a week or so later. As the driver, of course, I was primarily liable for the repair bill. Ouch.

Overstear?! That was MASSIVE understear! Quite scary when you turn and nothing happens, and the wall is coming closer...!

What happened, sudden oversteer? Was there oil on the road?
