AA is based around arenas, not open world sandbox style gameplay.

Very different games and personally I would rather play AA3 simply because it's a recruiting tool and they actually have a commitment to keep people coming back and playing, thus focusing on keeping the game fun and entertaining with regular updates.

ArmA is developed by some backwoods eastern europeans using as hacked OFP engine that can hardly support anisotropic filtering without dropping to 10 fps.

This game has way overdue. They took so long to make it that the engine is out of date. I agree that the gameplay doesn't look all that appetising, but the maps do look amazing.

Idk what to think about it yet, but I do know that the release date for it is June 17, 2009. I'll have to play it before I write an actual review with fiber.

AA has never been about gfx really guys. Solid game play has been the route they have taken. Also while not having top of line gfx more people are able to play it. Think about it. Call of Duty = unrealistic on so many levels. You have to be fucking GI JOE to even TRY the things that you can do on COD. As well as the recoil system, who the hell said M4's have low recoil? Shoot one. Yes, it has recoil lower than average weapons of this era. But still, it kicks. And try to fire an M107 standing up, it WILL knock you over. I could go on with a whole list of weapon problems on COD4 alone (all scope windage knobs are on wrong side, etc), so how much more with the other games?

If you look at STEAM hardware survey something like 60-80% of people are still using XP. Mainly because performance is massively better in XP and games still look just as good on DX9 to this day. Getting rid of Low end gamers , you end up having a CRYSIS situation only 87'000 people bought that game in its first month or so because of system requirements.

And compare the two games; low-end games (in terms of hardware requirements) like CS and TF2 have more kids online calling each other hackers, profanities, racists/offensive insults.

What I love and do not want to give up about AA is the maturity on there; it's rare to find people complaining about how someone is "too good" or their kill was "too cheap". More often, you find grownups joking around and playing the game as it should be: relaxed and fun.
