This is precious. You can tell it's a song they learned in childhood, because they still sound like children. My mother is 88 (same generation as the ladies singing),and some days she is like the child I imagine she once was, so I found this very moving. Thanks for posting.
Thank you ! My Mother (81) used to sing this to me as a little girl. I now live with her and take care of her, I sing this to her now ! She is of English heritage and born in Australia. Your' Mother and Auntie sound like they have that similar 'well bred' accent...soooo charming and thanks again. Very sorry for your' loss..: (
Thank you Cynthia. My mother and auntie were born in the West Indies. Their father was an Anglican missionary/ priest in Guyana, hence the accent I think. Mum lived most of her life in Aberdeenshire Scotland and Auntie Daphne lived in Panama and retired to Florida but they never really changed their accents.We recorded the song at a reunion party in Scotland in August 1992. Thankyou for yourinterest. I hope your Mum continues to enjoy you singing to her for a long time to come.
I am so glad and they would be too that 20 years after they sang the song it was still being appreciated.
