  • REM we miss you pleaes do one more tour

  • all this poor music advertising in youtube reminds me how shit floats... but falls down so fast.. while legends like R.E.M. stay up there forever

  • beauty

  • why is there a Lady Gaga ad right under the video? makes me want to throw up. as if i would even listen to any of his music

  • @LedZepSk8 It gets worse, when I watched it it featured a "teaser" for a Lil' Wayne and Bruno Mars duet video. They ain't teasing me. Teasing me would be a Ronnie Van Zandt and John Lennon video. Ni66a.....please

  • Damn I'll miss you guys ;'(

  • good song - but what's that FUCKING advert for a macho crap film doing on an REM song?

  • Combien, combien, combien de temp!!!!!!!

  • one of the songs that got me hooked on REM back in the day.

  • I love R.E.M.!!

  • So sad they're breaking up. Spent so many good times in college trying to figure out what the lyrics meant.

  • @dlzaragoza or WHAT the lyrics were. I loved REM but Michael Stype could mumble with the best of them, especially during the first 4 albums. :-)

  • The song that got me hooked on to REM all those years ago. A great collection of work guys and will always be a staple of my music collection.

Thanks for contributing to the soundtrack to my life

  • we miss you

  • R.E.M. = Great Band

    E.M.I. can go to hell

  • Goodbye, guys...

  • 15 albums, 31 years of brilliant music. It's a pity it has to end, but it went out with a bang.

    R.E.M. - thank you.

  • just fantastic music....more please....

  • My favorite Rem song, love the lyrics and his voice.

  • Imagine the joy of the guest string players on this song when they first start to play their part.

  • I was so happy when I learned to play this guitar riff... simply perfect.

  • Combien du temps?

  • Cool song...R E M (Rapid Eye Movement)... combien de temps...

  • Terrible movie

  • @TheOfficialDPRK what movie?

  • @Danklin24 I really cannot remember what I was thinking of when I made that comment

  • Back when music used to actually mean something, and if you listened to REM, it was a comment on your entire lifestyle, likes, and dislikes. It was a way of life.

  • Love this video and song, wish i didn't have to see Justin Bieber's face while watching it....

  • @Frequency95 I had to see lady gaga on my screen. A little better but still I know what you mean.

  • That's NYC in the 1980s. Homeless men sleeping on the streets, right on the sidewalk.

There's one making his bed in the shadow of the USS Intrepid, a tribute to our great democracy's might of arms and armies. There's another one, passed out on the sidewalk across the street from Madison Square Garden.

Bloomberg cleaned the streets up and sent the homelss to sleep at the Armory. You can't have that sight wrecking it for the tourists in new "New York as Disneyworld" version.

  • @lithead i was in NYC in 1982 and 1985, Times Square was quite a place back then, but for a ten year old it was quite scary too, if you seen Taxi Driver u know what i mean... we were told to to stick on the avenues at night, not in the dark back streets and the alleys, that was wise cos there were people lying there drugged out in the gutters.... but nowadays as i seen on tv the blocks around Times Square are more like Disneyland... they cleaned out good, they did,

  • @EnjoyTheSurface Yep! I was there during the "Tax Driver" years of the '70s. Times Sq. was all hookers, three-card monte, electronics store, and porn theaters. The cleanest it ever looked was July 4 weekend in '76 (the day I saw "Chorus Line" in preview) Op-Sail was being held for the Bicentennial and the city was SPOTLess, the weather clear and gorgeous - the best Now it's all for tourists and the wealthy hedge fund traders and bankers. Just one more incarnation in a constant: NYC.

  • Early work, pure as babyskin..

  • STOP SCREWING US WITH ADVERTS!

  • My guess is that this video is shot in NYC in the early 80's. Aren't all of us NYC'ers glad they fixed up the Hudson River Park?

  • @juliekstroup Well, it was actually shot in '88 (although the song came out in '83).

  • "A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom." ~ MLK

  • God, this is so great. They were such a great band back then, long before Stipe became the over-annunciating, dancing sprite he is today.

"Please don't point your gun at me, Mr. Tyler."

  • @armadillosignshop hahahahhaha. little known fact: not only was Obama born outside of the US but he is in-fact a two thousand year old evil wizard who first rose to prominence as the primary songwriter for R.E.M. Which is why armadillo's comment really fits well on this page.

  • @koolami268 Bwahaha! I like the way you think. That made me chuckle aloud! (I mean. Uh. Keep exposing the truth to the public, and such like that.)

  • @armadillosignshop Please refresh my memory...how much is useless, illegal war of aggression of Bush's costing us every month? Hmm, how many soldiers and civilian lives has it cost us? The worst thing Obama did was continue Bush policy, which was enough.

  • @armadillosignshop

Stupid Youtube commenter is stupid. Bush admin had worst job creation than any president in history. Nice Reganonmics that worked out to be. Trickle down effect. Trickling urine that is.

  • Obamanomics...

  • now this is surfing music =D

  • this song stops you in your tracks, be thankful for what you have.

  • Undoboudted the greatest video I have ever saw. It makes me cry everytime I see it. I'm from a small town and i couldn't imagine having to sleep in a box, or beg for food. And I think I've got it back because i'm addicted to pills. These people couldn't get meds to save their life. God Bless......Chad W.

  • that first transition...one of the best in popular music!

  • Wrong click...not to worry... : )

  • Really old School R.E.M.,but this still is some of their great stuff.

  • I love this song so much.

  • : ( ...............

  • WUT

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever written.

  • I was in a store and about to leave when this song came on...I went back inside and listened until it was over.

  • @marcusparks did you make a purchase?

  • @lola9343 I did....I bought a t-shirt or something.....it was several years ago.

  • This song is so pretty. This is such old skool R.E.M!

  • @Dingalingring YES IT IS MATE!!!!!!!!!
