price is always a debate. Some hold a higher price on things do to one thing or another but sellers want to make money period. coins and guns are the worst people to deal with, because you want to sell. For example. people pay spot for gold and silver but what if I told you that shops wait for some sucker then offer them 1/2 the value and say I got to make some money. So if they are getting Gold and Silver at 1/2 price, why are you paying full? See CASH is King and GOld and silver are useless.
you can tell they live in a big city . in midwest central illinois , a trapdoor rifle wouldn't go for more than $600. i've seen them at at auction go for no more than $450. and in better shape.
The trapdoor Springfield was not outdated at the time of release. Winchesters may have been pumping out round after round from 1873 into the 1880's but they shot a 44-40 WCF, a low power pistol cartridge. The U.S. army was in need of high-power rapid shooting. No repeating action could handle the .45-70 untill John Browning designed the winchester model 1886. Then in 1892 the bolt-action Krag was adopted. This guy always has his facts wrong. The trapdoor is a great rifle then and now.
@glockmeister26 Actually I thought 1500 was a resonable offer. Considering the current economic situation which always affects price. Most trapdoors go from 1,200 - 2,000. Plus pawn shops are not retail.
@mindeloman Considering the current economic situation, it would be more expensive as its a firearm and people are paying more for firearms. Though, some are down and some are up in price.
@obeyance I respectfully disagree. The springfield is not a Glock or a Sig. It's not a weapon with practical application in today's society. Gun's like the trapdoor are similar to baseball cards. It's a cyclic market and it's something that is purely puchased for collectibility, not purely for use. You are right about firearms generally appreciating though.
I HOPE YOU DONT THINK THIS WAS A REAL SALE. WAS ALL FOR ENTERTAINMENT.
NO ONE TAKES A GUN OR COIN TO THE PAWN SHOP TO SELL IF IN THEIR RIGHT MIND
