Well, we can't exactly keep bailing the British, French, Dutch, Poles and Belgians out without becoming their Allies.
If I recall, the only times that the USN and RN have gone head to head, the USN has won handily (with few exceptions, which I'm sure you'll be happy to trumpet about how we were fighting with nuclear powered battleships and you guys were restricted to flicking boogers at our battleships while paddling canoes).

Yeah mate. The Aussies are building the F35 wings I believe and I know they plan to get around 50 of the C model F35 which they intend to use on these small assault carriers.
We are looking at the B model (VTOL) but may get some C models too. really...our new Elizebabeth class carriers should use a combination of the F35B along with the Eurofighter although budgts are tight :(

Yep. Its becuase with any VTOL jet the wings have to be reduced in size as learn't with the Harrier. This is the drawback and cost of the B model along with range, speed and payload. I think they will replace the Harrier very well although I also think that's all they will do. In other words, I don't think they will ever replace jets such as the F15/EF/F18 etc.
They were going to use the Rolls Royce engine in them although went with the P&W due to cost. The UK may still use the RR engine.

Actually, we decommissioned our battleships because they have no place in a modern navy. Further, we just launched 3 super carriers in the last 10 years and are planning to launch 3 more in the next 10 years with the USN Ford coming online in 2015. Do you know what a super carrier is? @HRMacQuacken I'm afraid you are incorrect in number of your points. The Royal Navy's training program is superior to the US, in fact the US copies much of the British training techniques. I also reference war games in which the Royal Navy constantly outperforms the US. Naval power comes down effectively to airpower, In which Britian cannot match the offensive power of the US's naval airforce, we have the best naval air defence system in the world.

Well, we can't exactly keep bailing the British, French, Dutch, Poles and Belgians out without becoming their Allies.
If I recall, the only times that the USN and RN have gone head to head, the USN has won handily (with few exceptions, which I'm sure you'll be happy to trumpet about how we were fighting with nuclear powered battleships and you guys were restricted to flicking boogers at our battleships while paddling canoes).
I'm more than happy to give any fighting force its due respect....

One thing to keep in mind though is a vast amount of the US budget goes into maintaining their huge fleet around the world. USA have allot more bases than us. The RN is advanced although as you say...we cannot afford it on the scale that the Yanks can :(
2 new aircraft carriers is about all we can muster although we have quite a few new vessels comming into service. The RN website is pretty good in showing this.

Yeah mate. The Aussies are building the F35 wings I believe and I know they plan to get around 50 of the C model F35 which they intend to use on these small assault carriers.
We are looking at the B model (VTOL) but may get some C models too. really...our new Elizebabeth class carriers should use a combination of the F35B along with the Eurofighter although budgts are tight :(

Yep. Its becuase with any VTOL jet the wings have to be reduced in size as learn't with the Harrier. This is the drawback and cost of the B model along with range, speed and payload. I think they will replace the Harrier very well although I also think that's all they will do. In other words, I don't think they will ever replace jets such as the F15/EF/F18 etc.
They were going to use the Rolls Royce engine in them although went with the P&W due to cost. The UK may still use the RR engine.

USA use a downgraded version of Chobham armour for their Abrams but I bet you wouldn't say the Chal 2 is better lol. The USA also sought UK advice on the F35 project.

Some things are better...others not. We use your Nuke reactors for example. Our torpedos are better though.

To be fair I think our SSN/SSBN's are pretty equal but we can claim to of had the most combat action (even though this is small anyway).
The Argies got to find out how good we were when we tailgated them for 2 days undreneath the Belgrano then sunk it with WW2 torpedo's.

The Argies had a Sub but it was knocked out by us in the early stages of the war.
The falklands was the lst time the bayonet was used on mass too. The epic fail is that NATO/Russia said we had no chance of getting the isles back but when we did people like you be littled our victory :)

They had a point in that one of our aircraft carriers was in docks (which was rushed into action). They believed at the time that Argie airpower would be too much for us but thanks to the US sidewinder missiles no Harriers were lost in air to air combat (a couple by SAMS).
The RN had been neglected over the years although if this happened now Argentina would not stand a chance.
