  • Well . . . the band has more talent than the team, but that's the way things really are anyway.

  • I think next year will be a really exciting year to be in the SUMB, since our new head coach Doug Marrone really seems to be turning SU's football program around, cant wait to see results on the field

  • Agreed ... need to have a huge rally prior to every home game.

  • I wish you would have posted complete songs by the SUMB, instead of all these clips put together!

    Still nice to see, though.

  • I understand what you're saying. I used a small hand-held digital camera for this video, so I had my limitations. Thanks for the comment. Hopefully, can do something like you suggest in the future.

  • I recognize one of the band member. I hold the door for him few days ago.

  • I saw SUMB at the NYS Field Band conference championship on 10/28/08. The band was AWESOME! Totally full of energy! Great job!

  • Thank you. I wish I could have made it to the championship.

  • my cousin is a drum major at SU

  • Then your cousin must be cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • who is your cousin

  • Congrats to the Syracuse Orange for notching their first win of the year against Northeastern! It's a shame that the program has fallen as far as it has, but I believe that as soon as Greg Robinson is shown the door, things will start to change for the better. Syracuse should do what Illinois did and hire someone like Ron Zook. Zook transformed Illinois from the joke of the Big 10 into a Rose Bowl team last year. It takes time, though, but I think Syracuse can and will rebound.

  • Agree with you totally.

  • This is wonderful. As a recent alumna of the SUMB, it's great to see that there are still people who support what we do best - bringing the Orange PRIDE. Thank you so much.

  • You're welcome ... the band deserves a lot of credit. As you can tell by all the above comments, the members are a class act.

  • Thanks for that. You remind me of some better times on the quad. But, would someone please give you the correct logo for your helmets?

  • I'm not a band member, just an SU sports fan, but I'm sure one of the band members will read this comment and respond accordingly about the logo.

  • Shortly after SU changed their logo to the one that looks like "SJ", we bought new uniforms and they were fashioned with the new logo. Then they decided to change the logo and as we don't have the budget that the football team has, we haven't been able to update to the current logo. Oh well, someday we'll catch up!

  • maybe you should trade logos with football team and they'll start winning

  • This video is amazing. It's so refreshing to see that all of our hard work does not go unnoticed.

  • Thanks for the compliment. I can imagine the juggling act between school work and band practice.

  • Yay! Go Band! We're at every home game, cheering on the team AND the band. I even have a sign that says "GO BAND"! This video is Awesome! thanks for making this video! GO BAND!!!!!

  • you're welcome ... they deserve the support for sure ... and, thank you.

  • I dont know what happened to my last post but I just want to give a big thank you to you for making this video, it really means a lot. We will be at every home game and no matter what the score we will always strive to be the best band there is!

  • I did not receive any other comment, but anyway, your message is much appreciated. It's you and the rest of the band members who deserve all the accolades.

  • ... it gives me a great deal of satisfaction knowing that the band appreciates the video. A lot of people appreciate something, but the appreciation is useless if not expressed. Thank you.

  • Thanks so much for the support! This is my first year in the band and I absolutely love it. It's nice to see that there are people out there that appreciate this band as much as I do!

  • You're very welcome Casie ... you're expressed appreciation shows what a class act the band is.

  • I know that this has been said many times already, but thank you so much for this video. Sometimes it's tough to be "SU Super Fans" when the team isn't performing as well as they have in the past, so it's great to see that someone is at least enjoying what the band does on the field every week. Thank you so much!

  • Everyone's response is awesome. It makes me feel good that I've made others feel good.

  • Go Cuse Go!

  • You're very welcome. I'm sure the football team's performance will soon match that of the SUMB.

  • Thank you for the support and fantastic footage. SUMB bleeds orange and supports their team regardless of what is happening on the field, and it means a lot that somebody not only took notice, but was willing to display their gratitude through this great video. GO ORANGE!!

  • I was so happy to see this! Thank you! :)

  • You're very welcome ... I think that's what makes YouTube so great.

  • Oh yes ... even many PSU fans were enjoying it without a doubt.

  • Thank you again , responding to Andrew's comment previously ... thank you for the footage. It really means a lot that you spent that time to watch us and regard the band so highly despite the football team's performance. We treat every opportunity to show that we bleed orange and show our pride. Videos and feedback like yours helps us know that we really are making a difference and keeping the spirit alive.

  • On behalf of the SU Drumline, A big thank you to you for this awesome footage, we love to do what we do and as our director Prof. Mertz says, we do it because we love our university whether we win or not.

    Thanks again,

    GO ORANGE!!!

  • Hope my Coach Robinson comment at the end wasn't a bit too much.

  • oh its not too much at all, its totally fine

  • I've held onto my optimism for the past few years, but time is running out.

  • We do our best.

Thanks for the encouragement and letting us know that what we're doing helps make a difference.

  • You're very welcome ... keep up the good work

  • hey, are you involved in the band somehow? cause i am :D

thanks so much for supporting us!!

  • Nope ... not even an SU student, but a life long fan of SU Sports ... I went to predominately Black university where "the band" is the main attraction, and for me to be moved by SU's band says alot.

  • oh, now you're just making me blush lol

  • Then you know where I'm coming from.

  • I was a drummer in the SU band in '70 - '72 and we were AWFUL. You guys are SO much better than we were! Thanks for posting this video - out here in California we never hear much about the east (and this year that's sort of a blessing) but it was great to "get back" albeit electronically.

    Don in Manhattan Beach CA

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it ... beyond all the Ernie Davis activities, the band (out on the quad during pregame) was the highlight for me.

  • I think you're absolutely right.
