They don't have time for the little independent bands, they're only interested in larger bands which they can market. One of these days, I wish a media channel would come along where they dedicated an entire radio station to small indie bands, attempting to unearth the undiscovered gems of Australian music.

@MrShingPow Well in Brisbane you have 4ZZZ for that. the problem is, who's the quality control, genre etc. You'd pretty much need the stations to only be local first, then the bands work their way up through the ranks. Unearthed does give the smaller bands a go though so at least there are some options. Which is more than none.

I just want to vouch for this wonderful band, who are like any other school band, who didn't expect this to happen to them, they were just as independent and undiscovered as you say other bands are, they deserve it because even if they hadn't won the triple J comp. i am sure that they would still be playing in our school band room. they are exactly the type of band that you are talking about, and triple j saw that.
