IMO the only advantage of that laser sight is the psychological influence on the atacker. Other than that it makes no sence to have it on the PD pistol. Most untrained civies in stress conditions just shooting to "that" direction and probably even beaten pro would not search the laser beam spot and use the iron sights instead.
I have used these lasers, and they ad virtually zero weight or size to a pistol. They can improve accuracy in low light, dark, when you are injured or shooting off hand. These can be turned on and off without touching the trigger.
The only disadvantage I see is their price, however their advantages more than compensate
CTC is not a panacea for poor marksmanship skills. If you can not hold the front sight on target as you pull the trigger towards sear break. Darkness can be a friend and a great equalizer if used to tactical advantage. Advantages in low light are quickly negated by the improper use of the laser or a flashlight.
When you are injured or shooting off hand - that's a salesman b.s. It is not a substitute for the skill needed. The most important principles of survival - Keep it simple.
You are arguing a point NO ONE has made. Never did ANY ONE suggest any tool is a substitute for mindset, knowledge, skills, and training
Thinking your hand won't be hurt in an altercation is naive. Go do the research, hands get hurt OFTEN
As for "sales bs" I could care less what anyone buys, but assuming a device is bad because you don't know how to use it and you believe in old, outdated assumptions is weak
I've used and had a training with visual and IR target pointers and illuminators. A shooter must integrate the laser into their training if they are to use it effectively. Expecting a laser to perform a magic trick in lieu of proper training is a recipe for disaster. In my experience, the person with awareness, training and a bit of luck on their side will be the one who survives. You can't buy that at the gun counter. Finally CTC doesn't worth multihundred dollars. DVC
Might be some will say my points are invalid, but as far as the person with a laser being the person who survives? I challenge anyone to point to a person who was mortally wounded in a gun fight because they lacked a laser sight. One conclusion appears over and over again when considering laser grips. They are not a replacement for basic marksmanship or tactics.
How difficult is it to get a full grip on the Glock with these laser grips for a lefty? With a thumbs-forward grip, do you have to modify your grip at all? I'm considering getting these for my Glock 17.
In a home invasion you need to immediately identify the threat, target it from any number of body positions and possibly fire. The laser has the added advantage of telling the threat that they will be shot if they persist which could chase them off before lethal action is needed. If the threat is undeterred a laser grip definitely compensates for frayed nerves and adrenaline. Once I get my LTC (in Boston, wish me luck) my first pistol will definitely be equipped with a Crimson Trace.
in my opinion ever defensive gun should have a ct laser, you can be a total ignoramus about shooting and hit your target everytime, they are simply amazing, i put off buying one for the longest time until i got one, now i have five
Youre wrong. A laser will not help you with proper trigger pull or shooting posture. A laser should be a tool, not a crutch or replacement for proper firearms training. YOU are the weapon, not the gun or laser.
@labartic i am not wrong, when i shoot the gun with the laser like a wild man from the hip with zero trigger control i hit the target every time, so my answer to you is yes a laser is a replacement for proper trigger control and training, and talk to anyone in law enforcement or any trainer and they will tell you the sights are never used in real life situations with all the training in the world sights are impossible in a gun fight. you cant argue with me i only state the facts
You do not state facts. Interviews with police who have survived shoot outs 1v1 show that the overwhelming majority took the time to look for their front sight and aim at the target. Sights never used my ass! My best friend where I lived was a 22 year police veteran and taught shooting at the academy. It is drilled into cops to use their front sight, period. They MUST take aim because they could potentially kill a bystander if they just shoot from the hip like you advocate.
Has anyone seen the new MSRP price for the New Bushmaster ACR? It is $2685.00 for the basic model. I know this does not have anything to do with the video, but I am pissed.
ACR! ACR! ACR! ACR! when are you going to get to them? I'm dieing here! I heard they DOUBLE the price!!! $2800 for the basic non chomelined model and $3000+ for the upgraded model. WTF!!???
thats the one problem with glocks. there great guns, relaible and the subcompacts are great for conceal carry. but all crimson trace lasers add to the width of the grip. excet the ones that go on the rail but then you loose light capability on the gun. damned if you do and damned if you dont.
They do make a laser guide rod. they are expensive, not sure if crimson trace makes them. I'm debating on getting one. I'm sure gunwebsites has a review on them.
yeah, crimson trace gets overall good reviews. They are adjustable and everything, the lasermax guide rod lasers are not adjustable and your pretty much stuck with what you got.
Crimson Trace does it right.
