Wow, this is so beautiful. I thought I knew all the early Jackson stuff.. amazing. I'm so grateful it's on here!! Thank you so much. :)
Someone very special pointed me in this direction; it's bittersweet for me. JB is the most underrated songwriter in the history of popular/rock music. Every bit as good as Dylan and then some, IMHO.
Tom Rush does this on his Circle Game LP. Kudos to Jackson for the lyrics, but have a listen to Rush's deep voiced, emotional take on the song. Superb!
I've always loved this JB song since I first heard it on the Nina Demo. My sister was friends in New York with Nina, who was JB's voice coach when he was very young. He really grew a long as a singer and songwriter from those days, but this song was proof of his precociousness.
JB is the greatest, but if you like this song you've got to find Tom Rush's version on an early album. He recorded quite a few, and did a great job on this one.
This reminds me of 1973 when I was introduced to JB by a girlfriend (age 13) who loved Jackson Browne. We listened to Saturate. Thanks much for posting this great tune.
Impossible to find now, as it was retracted by the record company, but Gregg Allman's Anthology from a decade ago has a great version of this with his soulful voice and acoustic guitar. He and Jackson were roomates back in the '60s and he also covered "These Days" on his Laid Back album.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite Jackson songs. It's a shame it never got put on a record. Would have fit beautifully in between "Looking Into You" and "Rock me on the Water." :) Thanks for the post! You've got lots of great stuff on here
Looking through the years -- Jackson is one of the most beautifully and graceful aging human beings I have encountered in a public sphere. I can see his beauty, confidence, and idealism as a youth. He never seemed to get jaded about reality; he had just kept expressing himself with hope, dignity, and a push to make things better. Through the years, Jackson has not only talked the talk, but walked the walk. (Just check out all the charities his concerts benefit!) What a graceful human being.
Here you can already hear that great song "Fountain of Sorrow" that makes JB so intriguing, right? I always loved him for his melancholy. But he can rock, too. He's simply a genius, like Neil.
thanks hinsy for coming here:) I agree he is so intriguing!! Now talking about Neil, it just comes to me when I heard you singing your voice reminds me Neil's one!! You rock too! Have great day
Oh well.... That's the trouble..(not that you can ever get enough of Jackson) but they release the same things under a thousand different names at different times in differnt places. I have the same releases under two different names as well, expecting something else and it turms out to be the same performance...? What can you do? Yeah, maybe the mailman likes it. No problem to me, I like mailing things anyway.
si tu veux des copies des "unreleased" Criterion Demos et Nina Demo, et celui là à Syracuse University fais le moi savoir; je serai ravie de te les envoyer. merci mon ami
Je ne parle pas français ou je parle un petit peu. Where did you get this recording? I took tickets at the door of Jabberwocky that night! JB was there more than 1 night. Do you have any other Jabberwocky recordings of JB or Bonnie Raitt?
your French is perfect! you're lucky for being there!! I had posted another song from same Jabberwocky concert. wait for more to come. thanks for your kind comment
Saw your comments, listing "Together Again" and "Someday Morning" . . . I'm not familiar with these; where can I get them? Also, do you know anything about how I can listen to the recordings he made with Nikko (of Velvet Underground?? (I heard he hated them and searched them out to destroy them! I don't want to violate his wishes, but I bet with time passed, he could be a little easier on himeself.)
This song was recorded by Tom Rush in the 70"s The album is The Circle Game. Great Album. This was my favorite song from this album.

This song kicks ass compared to for example "I`m the cat" or some other shit songs. Never really released is not that cool, but kinda interesting.
