Many are missing that these are "smart jumper cables" and aren't supposed to be able to be cross-circuited. The guy even says they're going to demonstrate them (which is why the model switches the clips.) But, for some reason, the "smart" part of these cables failed and instead of either shutting off the flow of electricity, alerting the user of the problem (with a light or something) or simply correcting the problem itself (these types of cables can work in any of these ways) a fire starts.

I found this video to be very confusing initially. Firstoff, the cables were already connected to the battery. The lady then disconnects the cables and immediately reconnects them reversing the polarity (which I thought she did accidentally). Well if you look at what they're advertising, it says "Smart Connection Jumper Cables". These are supposedly jumper cables that are fool-proof and impervious to incorrect connections. duh!
