  • I know about loud close lightning strikes. Last July, one hit a couple houses down from us. Aside from knocking out some lights and frying my computer (which had to be replaced), the sound made my ears ring!

  • thts just to close

  • I knew it was going to strike the railing.

  • the strick @ 0.51, would look better if it was redone on a slowmo cam...

  • the INCREDIBLE lightning strike video!!! is better

  • i remember that happened to me as well and the crackling sound was awesome

  • Yes Gabby it was so loud, the video sound doesn't do it justice. It was about this time last year, what's the betting that we get another one this year?

  • I was outside on this date, i was laying on the trampoline and i looked up to see a lightning bolt, purple seemignly hit our park, right next to our house :-(

  • omg that is amazing =)

  • I remember when i was at my school and literally i saw lightning strike the field. that was the closest ive ever been to lightning

  • DEFANTLY TO CLOSE FOR COMFORT!

    Thumbs up if this helped

  • what ever i had 1 badder then that

  • Good effort. It took me a minute to realize this is an advert.

  • it hit over the river i sure wouldnt have wanted to be that side lol! ghosting is normal its to do with camera!! think of how much elec in a bolt plenty to upset a camera!! :) good catch

  • cool it hit something on other side of river! i wouldnt have wanted to be that side lol! ghosting on window is normal so near and think how much elc is in a bolt of lighting!! :) good catch

  • holy crap

  • Look at the river behind! It like flys off

  • pause it on 51 secs

  • if you pause it when it strikes you can see that its fake becuse it goes into the padeo so pause it at exacly 0:50

  • It's just a reflection in the glass, get over it.

  • I figure it would have been louder? I had one hit outside once and the crack was instant and deafening, still looks real though.

  • It was very loud but the microphone on my camera is not very good. It's a stills camera with a video facility added as an afterthought.

  • Plus the glass in a lot of apartment complexes is soundproofed to an extent.

  • @1kill1der

Yes definately. I agree with you. When I heard the loudest crack It was REALLY loud almost deafaning

  • what time frame does it happen in?

  • 50 seconds in, I don't know how to shorten the video, any recommendations?

  • @jimhetfield7777 not really?

  • @jimhetfield7777 Leave the video as it is! What is the big water i see out the window? Great video!

  • @jimhetfield7777 Use sony vegas

  • I think the fireworks would have been more impressive if the strike had in fact been on the railing.. The sound would have had a litttle more volume. no you see a a strike on the other side of the river.. You see a reflection in the glass (or could even be an aberration from the lens)..

When lightning gets as close as you claim.. many electrical devices have problems.. and the operators have issues with their pants

  • that was crazy...just like in russia

  • pause at around 50 seconds it hit the other side of the river, fairly close but i have seen a lot closer.

  • This is not a fake. The reason that you usually hear the clap of thunder after the lightning has struck is because it takes longer for the sound to travel than the light. Because this strike was so close, that's why you hear it at the same time as the flash because it has virtually no distance to travel.

  • @jimhetfield7777 can't believe you have to explain it to someone lol

  • its fake. lighting strikes before you hear the clap of thunder, whereas in this video it is the same time, the actual lighting strike looks like one u would see at one of those lightning cages. fair effort, but fake.

  • lol u idiot, obviously the less sound needs to travel, the quicker you hear it. hurrr durrr

  • I had to watch this about 10 times, to understand where it actually hit. Damn that was a fair close hit.

  • Thats crazy :P

  • I live In QLD and my sister in law is up in North QLD and she is flooded too. You guys have got one heck of a clean up on your hands as well.

  • nice view of the river....i love places likes that.. "you live in heaven" luzl

  • that was like my street in qld! Australia

  • at australia?

  • I can tell u if lighting hit that close to ur window U would have been splintered with glass

  • This video made me feel relaxed haha

  • That's alot of video for 0.4sec of action. Still, nature's power is awesome to look at.

  • If you pause it and look closely you'll find that the lower one is a complete mirror opposite to the one on top. So it is a reflection. It happens when filming through windows. Good vid though and a hell of a storm.

  • Hey maybe when the storm stops and the rainbow comes out we can all go get the gold....off the balcony.

  • actually if u pause it u can see the lightning overlapping the balcony so it actually did hit it

  • the lightning is reflected off the window so as the camera sees the reflection, the lightning only appears as if it overlaps the balcony

  • yer u right if u pause it well enough u can actually see it on the close side of the metal railing

  • You douchebag! It hit the other side of the river.

  • didn't hit balcony, didn't hit anywhere near you

  • no hits the otherside of river and just appears to hit balcony,it's just reflection

  • Woah 0:47

  • Ummm if you go frame by frame you will see the lightning actually strikes just on the other side of the river. Had the lightning struck the balcony you would have not only seen scoring but it would have likely shattered the windows too (and probably blown the camera off as well) ... Cool video though :)

  • @opplevelse That is true. I saw it. Like you said. It would have burned the rail to chars, and blown off the camera! Sure the ligtning strike was real, but it wasn't on the rail!

  • woaah did that lightening hit anything else?

  • Wow that is full on. Nice view by the way.
