I know about loud close lightning strikes. Last July, one hit a couple houses down from us. Aside from knocking out some lights and frying my computer (which had to be replaced), the sound made my ears ring!
Yes Gabby it was so loud, the video sound doesn't do it justice. It was about this time last year, what's the betting that we get another one this year?
I was outside on this date, i was laying on the trampoline and i looked up to see a lightning bolt, purple seemignly hit our park, right next to our house :-(
it hit over the river i sure wouldnt have wanted to be that side lol! ghosting is normal its to do with camera!! think of how much elec in a bolt plenty to upset a camera!! :) good catch
cool it hit something on other side of river! i wouldnt have wanted to be that side lol! ghosting on window is normal so near and think how much elc is in a bolt of lighting!! :) good catch
I think the fireworks would have been more impressive if the strike had in fact been on the railing.. The sound would have had a litttle more volume. no you see a a strike on the other side of the river.. You see a reflection in the glass (or could even be an aberration from the lens)..
When lightning gets as close as you claim.. many electrical devices have problems.. and the operators have issues with their pants
This is not a fake. The reason that you usually hear the clap of thunder after the lightning has struck is because it takes longer for the sound to travel than the light. Because this strike was so close, that's why you hear it at the same time as the flash because it has virtually no distance to travel.
its fake. lighting strikes before you hear the clap of thunder, whereas in this video it is the same time, the actual lighting strike looks like one u would see at one of those lightning cages. fair effort, but fake.
If you pause it and look closely you'll find that the lower one is a complete mirror opposite to the one on top. So it is a reflection. It happens when filming through windows. Good vid though and a hell of a storm.
Ummm if you go frame by frame you will see the lightning actually strikes just on the other side of the river. Had the lightning struck the balcony you would have not only seen scoring but it would have likely shattered the windows too (and probably blown the camera off as well) ... Cool video though :)
@opplevelse That is true. I saw it. Like you said. It would have burned the rail to chars, and blown off the camera! Sure the ligtning strike was real, but it wasn't on the rail!

It's just a reflection in the glass, get over it.

I figure it would have been louder? I had one hit outside once and the crack was instant and deafening, still looks real though.
1kill1der 1 year ago 2
It was very loud but the microphone on my camera is not very good. It's a stills camera with a video facility added as an afterthought.
jimhetfield7777 1 year ago
Plus the glass in a lot of apartment complexes is soundproofed to an extent.

ccullen001 1 year ago
Hey maybe when the storm stops and the rainbow comes out we can all go get the gold....off the balcony.
economasterful 1 year ago
actually if u pause it u can see the lightning overlapping the balcony so it actually did hit it
MaCo4LyF 1 year ago
the lightning is reflected off the window so as the camera sees the reflection, the lightning only appears as if it overlaps the balcony
zhing08 1 year ago
yer u right if u pause it well enough u can actually see it on the close side of the metal railing
