She did not die as a result of being a firefighter in the line of duty-she died from being young and stupid and because her "fellow" firefighters did not do the right thing. She knew that she wasn't old enough to drink-she was trying to be one of the boys

I attended her funeral as a member of ODF .My engine partner was a volunteer member of the her department and we had both worked with those involved in this accident. The convention was known for being one big party . Whether it was hazing or she just liked to drink , I didn't know enough to attest to that. I do see an angry father who wants revenge and a newspaper that enjoys any chance it can get to trash people on the east side of the Cascades any chance they get.

Firefighters get away with things that the rest of us would never be able to. Alcohol is regularly found at FF meetings and at the firehall for firefighters to consume as they see fit. It is common to find a Soda machine full of beer in the back equipment area. Now tell me why they are such hero's? Because the save house foundations? That's about all they save. A cop could never get away with that kind of behavior.
