I'm wondering why did they bother installing a recording light on a home camera? For a news reporting camera - yes, but it's a home camera. I bet that it annoyed people more than being useful.
Um... yeah, I pressed the button, so I think it's recording. I don't need the red flash, thank you. :)
Pretty cool. If only you had a 80's haircut and clothes to go with it, it would look even more legitimate! I don't think I own anything from specifically 1987.
I have an old Denon amp and a pair of Bose 205 series from around that time. And damn, it is like having a real cinema and full orchestra at home. My parents are jealous of me because I have way better sound for € 70 in total, they have spended over € 300 for their 5.1 "home cinema" set.
you should stand in front of a 1985 car and make predictions like us going to war with iraq in the year 2001 and how michael jackson will die and castro will still be alive.
That's pretty awesome! you should do a remake of the 1987 CBS TV pirating incident with a Max headroom mask :D I had a new VHS-C camcorder in 1993 and the date on that went up to 2099
Very cool video. You need to do more like this. I love pretending I'm watching an 80s video, not sure why. By the way, is this the first time you've filmed yourself on youtube? First time I've seen you anyway.
Where's the Delorean? Nice vid, and nice seeing you in front of the camera once in a while also. I hadn't thought about it until this video, but the first camcorder my parents got had a titler and color fade effects and other goodies. They never got used though.
It's kinda odd to think how many interesting videos would have been created in the 80s.... that no one will ever see. Now I could make a video of a car meowing and have hundreds of thousands of people see it.
Even into the 90s, the Commie 64 was still very popular with ham radio ops for packet, rty, etc. That was b4 the web. I have one old vidicon b&w vid camera froom the early 70s. It only has a focus control and c mount lens.
Wow, quite an interesting video :) 1987 Here we Come! It's nice seeing you in front of the camera - sort of put the man behind the excellent videos in front of the lens! Keep the great videos coming! :)
@SpiritsoftheWolf I use the Denon tuner on top of the rolltop desk. The tuner built into the stereo system resets itself back to 87.5 every time you turn it on, so I don't use it.
lol where do i buy that thing?! please

Fun! It's neat to do videos that look like they're from an earlier time. My Panasonic Omnivision also only goes up to 1999.

Oh, this was fun! For 1987, you sure had a lot of CDs around! :-) And to think...you could also have a nice, new 3800 "BOP" car!
D8 seems a little bit sharper on some of the edges. The VHS image quality held up well compared to what the D8 tape was capturing.

@eliw4232 Nothing is stopping anyone from capturing those VHS or Betamax tapes and posting them on YouTube. Plenty of people have done it already.

You look like Billy Madison!!! Yeah I guess your Panasonic is not "Y2K" compliant, which was a huge thing back in 1999.

@talldude123 Believe it or not, our 1987 LXI Series (Hitachi built) VHS camcorder is indeed Y2k compliant.
