  • lol where do i buy that thing?! please

  • I'm wondering why did they bother installing a recording light on a home camera? For a news reporting camera - yes, but it's a home camera. I bet that it annoyed people more than being useful.

Um... yeah, I pressed the button, so I think it's recording. I don't need the red flash, thank you. :)

  • Holy crap. It's great to put a face with the voice. Interesting vid.

  • dude go back to 1981 and tell the Secret Service someone is going to shoot Ronald Reagan..

  • my grandma passed away few days ago. i was going throught her things and came across a "Computie!'s machine Language Runtines for Commodore 64" Book.

  • Fun! It's neat to do videos that look like they're from an earlier time. My Panasonic Omnivision also only goes up to 1999.

  • Pretty cool. If only you had a 80's haircut and clothes to go with it, it would look even more legitimate! I don't think I own anything from specifically 1987.

  • I have an old Denon amp and a pair of Bose 205 series from around that time. And damn, it is like having a real cinema and full orchestra at home. My parents are jealous of me because I have way better sound for € 70 in total, they have spended over € 300 for their 5.1 "home cinema" set.

  • Oh, this was fun! For 1987, you sure had a lot of CDs around! :-) And to think...you could also have a nice, new 3800 "BOP" car!

D8 seems a little bit sharper on some of the edges. The VHS image quality held up well compared to what the D8 tape was capturing.

  • o0 thats a very good camera for that time, its better than lots of new digital ones

  • the rad dude from the 80s is back :)

  • great scott!

  • @lmull3 I want to know if the camcorder had to be brought up to 88 miles an hour. If so, how was it done?

  • @uxwbill why, with science of course!! :D

  • you should stand in front of a 1985 car and make predictions like us going to war with iraq in the year 2001 and how michael jackson will die and castro will still be alive.

  • That's pretty awesome! you should do a remake of the 1987 CBS TV pirating incident with a Max headroom mask :D I had a new VHS-C camcorder in 1993 and the date on that went up to 2099

  • Can really tell the difference be twine them and the digital 8 is way better quality.

  • I always had a fascination with the gadgers and gizmos of yore. Thanks for letting me experience them!

  • This video was recorded on the day of my birthday, which was Thursday the 12th!

  • i love old music

  • Very cool video. You need to do more like this. I love pretending I'm watching an 80s video, not sure why. By the way, is this the first time you've filmed yourself on youtube? First time I've seen you anyway.

  • @BrianPicchi I've been on camera a few quick times as far back as 2009, but my first extensive appearance was my coming out video, posted 1/1/2012.

  • assuming it was recorded direct from a capture card since there is no distortion on the bottom...

  • @bakonfreek never mind, wow, I'm an idiot...

  • You could almost fool someone into thinking this is a old video.

  • All you need to is to play some 80s music, and this will be a ultimate video!

  • U2 Released The Joshua Tree 9 March 1987

  • @travismay2008 Then I must've gotten a pre-release promo copy! :-)

  • @vwestlife If you wouldnt say, everyone would beleve you made this back in 1987.

  • Where's the Delorean? Nice vid, and nice seeing you in front of the camera once in a while also. I hadn't thought about it until this video, but the first camcorder my parents got had a titler and color fade effects and other goodies. They never got used though.

  • It's kinda odd to think how many interesting videos would have been created in the 80s.... that no one will ever see. Now I could make a video of a car meowing and have hundreds of thousands of people see it.

  • @eliw4232 Nothing is stopping anyone from capturing those VHS or Betamax tapes and posting them on YouTube. Plenty of people have done it already.

  • @NJRoadfan That is true, but a lot of people have forgotten about, or lost the tapes.

  • Lol ive just realised this is the first time I seen your face !

  • Even into the 90s, the Commie 64 was still very popular with ham radio ops for packet, rty, etc. That was b4 the web. I have one old vidicon b&w vid camera froom the early 70s. It only has a focus control and c mount lens.

  • You look like Billy Madison!!! Yeah I guess your Panasonic is not "Y2K" compliant, which was a huge thing back in 1999.

  • @talldude123 Believe it or not, our 1987 LXI Series (Hitachi built) VHS camcorder is indeed Y2k compliant.

  • hehe awesome!

  • lol you didnt travel back to the 80s, you traveled to the 40s......

  • iam not use to seeing a face with the voice but great vid man

  • Nevermind, WBGO!

  • Do you happen to know what radio channel was that at 2:10? My favorite music :)

  • Wow, quite an interesting video :) 1987 Here we Come! It's nice seeing you in front of the camera - sort of put the man behind the excellent videos in front of the lens! Keep the great videos coming! :)

  • Year: 1987

    Radio Station: 87.5

    Hmmmm....

  • @luigi90900, around here on 87.5, it's a tv station... weird

  • @SpiritsoftheWolf I use the Denon tuner on top of the rolltop desk. The tuner built into the stereo system resets itself back to 87.5 every time you turn it on, so I don't use it.

  • Nice Hat!

  • the room looks like a flashback from the 80's,i am even wearing my 1986 shirt today too

  • My Sony SLV-X60's internal clock goes from 1990 to 2005 so I just set it to whatever year gets the day of the week right. 2012 is the new 1995 :-D

  • I have some home videos that look like that, it's a very interesting look I think..

  • Even though with the low light warning, the picture is still remarkably good.
