  • Thanks a lot for this. I'm mostly a photoshop user and I always think of Illustrator as being kind of a daunting tool. You've presented it in a way that's quite easy to understand and I feel a lot more confident about learning how to use it better after watching this. :)

  • Thank you for this!

  • I guess your pretty busy but could we skype some time?

  • great tutorial! :D <3

  • Try not to let the pen tool discourage you. I struggled for a long time, but you can find tutorials that give you simple shapes to trace till you start getting the hang of it. I'm not a graphics master, but I can draw, then scan, open in Illustrator, & have fun tracing and coloring cartoon people etc. It's pretty fun. And then your pic can be any size, from postage stamp to poster just by clicking and dragging. Illustrator's pretty cool. Give yourself time.

  • what a crap of a graphic ahahahaha

  • pretty cool guy

  • best firefox ever!xD

  • Refreshing to see someone start a design tutorial with pen and paper, nice one

  • My name is Stephen too!

  • Also another quick tip for you in CS5 (not sure if in earlier versions) is that if you have a harsh anchor point and want it smoother - go to the options bar and select the smooth anchor point... it really halps smooth the anchor point. Multiple anchor point can be selected like this if you need it.

  • Quick tip for you... save time by creating the anchor point and then manipulating the beizer curve by clicking on the last anchor point created and holding Alt (PC) or Opt (Mac) and dragging on the handlebar wherever you need it to be (just remember the beizer curve acts like a magnet to both handlebars). The point being is that only the last anchor point handlebar is selected and the opposite beizer curve will not be effected by any movement of the last handlebar. It isolates the last handlebar

  • ive been looking for a while on how to begin a logo design in illustrator. seems like the hardest part is mastering the pen tool. thank you for showing your process from beginning to end. now i know what i need to do. great tutorial. :D

  • can you do another one with less circular figures, thanks.

  • How do you do that thing with the gradient? Have it change into the direction you want? Thanks so much! You're awesome for sharing your knowledge!

  • Thank you very much mate! Very useful.

  • hello i am using macromedia flash to design some logos just for fun because i am stil a beginner. is it ok to keep working with my program if i want to continue and be a professional logo designer? if not what programs do you suggest i can use now and later on?

    thanks

  • @deen4321able the program you use doesn't matter entirely, but make sure that you are creating vector logos. But if you want to become a professional, you definately should get used to using illustrator. (some people use photoshop or indesign, but remember: vector logos!)

  • Thanks for this but illustrator truly is a horror if you are used to photoshop, I mean seriously this must be the dumbest program ever.. It's like going from a ferrari to a miyata.

  • @Saints9R I'm sorry but the purpose of using illustrator is to create vector logos which can resized and placed on anything without compromising the quality. No professional company will take a pixel based logo created in photoshop (unless of course, it's a vector art using the pen tool, but in that case illustrator is by far the better program to use). It's driving an automatic ferrari after a manual, it just sucks. I'm not trying to criticize, but simply share the importance of illustrator.
