The funniest thing about this song is the obnoxious bongos. A really clever reference to the regular use of them in some Beatles stuff around that period.
It's a shame that no one remembers Ollie Halsall from this band, as he played bass on almost all of the tracks. He had a small part as 'Leppo' in the film.
When Sir Paul was on Jimmy Fallon a couple weeks ago, they played him on with this song instead of an actual Beatles tune. I wonder how many people caught it?
I said one time that if the Monkees get in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, then so should the Rutles. Gotta admit they started out sorta simalerly. And if the Rutles do get in then Weird Al should presnt them.
Clearly, the folks who were behind the Rutles - beginning by those who composed the songs and arranged them - loved both the Beatles music and what they were doing. Most of those songs are up to the Beatles' best records (have you heard "Cheeses and Onions" too ?).
I Was In Liverpool Earlier This year & I Visited one Of Bars On Matthew St a Beatles Tribute Band (or a Rutles one) Performed This One & I Was Creased Up Lol

Hilarious. If you think this is funny, the Movie "All You Need is Cash" will have you rolling on the floor, if that's your kind of humor. Is mine!

Not related in any way with 'I want to hold your hand' by The Beatles. Of course not.

A great early Rutles song - ca. 1963ish? What's better.. 'Hold My hand' or 'She Loves You'? Tough call.

In the Rutles movie, George even plays the role of a reporter. And many other Monty Pythons are included <3

Neil Innes, the guy portraying the John Lennon-ish character in the Rutles, wrote almost all of the songs.
