WOW! It says on ur site u are a research scientist! I would have thought there was enuff already in ur head!!! Great arrangement u make it look effortless!
great vids man. I was just wondering, where is a good place to find a good quality uku? and how much should i be expecting to pay for something as beautiful as yours? my first ukulele was $40 at my local music shop. And also, what type of strings do you use? Just wanting to know how i can get started doing covers so i can share with people like you have. btw, diggin the hats. Keep it up
I have answered this a million times and need to put this up on my website so I can direct people in the future.
My suggestion is to buy the best instrument you can afford. This improves your playing since is sounds good, so you play and practice longer.
Part 1
Instrument in order of preference are 1) Luthier built instrument like my DaSilva SM1 ($900), 2) KoAloha ($600), 3) KoAlana ($200), 4) Flea with rosewood fingerboard ($250). I prefer soprano sized.
lol, alright, thanks alot. To tell you the truth, ive been looking for something nice to buy myself (its been a while) and was deciding between a new hat, or a new uku. Hell, maybe i'll do both :) thanks alot
i did post this information (and expanded with web links) on my instrument page om my website jazzukes (dot) com. i really cannot say enough about buying a luthier built instrument. it is well worth the investment. for hats try villagehatshop (dot) com. i wear the executive style from Bailey
thanks, it kind of amazed me to....but then it is an instrument... it should be able to play these types of songs (it is me that has the limits). keep watching.
Mark, that's some great teaching you do through this video...that's exactly the process I use. Thanks for recording this. I'm learning this tune myself, and your work is going into my iPod for reference. Wish I could come hear you live.
Thanks for the insight into the process. I think I finally get that it doesn't just come to you via some kind of Heavenly Grace: you work at it like the rest of us. Difference is, you are a musical genius. Well, we mortals will just have to muddle along!
to quote einstein genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. i spend a lot of time just playing the song and experimenting with different themes. but i would like to think that there is a bit of Heavenly Grace associated with my process as i play the ukulele in Church. thanks God!
Mark, what a wonderful video!! And how cool is it that you put the process by which you do arrangements!! I can;t thank you enough, you made Horace Silver proud! Thank you so very much for sharing your passion and talent!! I love the arrangement!!

Wow. Now there's a song I never thought I'd hear on a uke.
Great job.
