  • just watched this movie again - 3rd or 4th time i think - and I reckon its now top (or at least near the top) of my personal all-time list. Just brilliant i so many ways. I keep finding new metaphors and analogies and overall depth each time.

  • when he crashed in to the wall he was like "wait... dayum"!

  • The Truman Show is only one of two movies I've watched in my entire life that caused me to shed tears. I sincerely from the bottom of my heart wish the Entertainment industry would put creativity like this above there own greed so more movies of this caliber can be produced and enjoyed.

  • Wrrrrrreoooooow! Why would anyone wanna skip an ad with John Stamos!! Yum!! I hit replay 10 times just to see the intro ad featuring Johnny Boy!! ;P

  • 2:04 this is a comparision to Jesus Christ, who was walking over the water. So Truman represents the only real person in his small world

  • YOU GOT US SO DEEP INTO DEBT!

  • The heaven was in Jaws too

  • i remember banging my cat 1st time i heard this.....we r happily married with 3 kids now

  • i cried like a baby when i first saw this

  • what was his last recorded day in the set?? Wasnt it like 10,435 or something like that??

  • @694Grider 10,913 i think

  • when my brother had told me about this movie, i didn't think it would be all that as in, such an incredible movie! When i finally watched it (on FILM 4), i couldn't stop thinking about it for almost a week, the way it just affected me because of the whole storyline and then in the end such and emotional ending, Truman finally discovering what his life has been all about, just such a good movie!

  • This is what I feel like being living in every single god damn day of my life. Never ending circle.. Stucked in the same society - just want to break free, from this illusion of life.

  • como se llama esta cancion ?

  • Jim Carey's serious movies are really good.

  • Why cant anybody make movie's like this any more, what has happened to the directors in the world, they only think about graphics and not the storyline!

  • @CashlessNick; emotions are fed by ideas and judgement, inception wasn't wrong. GREAT movie btw, one of the best jim carrey movies and certainly one of the best all time movies! :D

  • See if my life was like Trumans...you guys would tell me right?

  • Need this music sooo bad, please tell me who composed this...

  • @phunk1993

Phillip Glass: check out his soundtrack for the hours and the illusionist - also brilliant!

  • Inception was wrong, the most resilient parasite isnt an idea, its the most primitive emotion that humans can feel: CURIOSITY. This movie is really fucking smart

  • One of the best emotional ending of all times. Such beautiful, Jim Carrey is one of the greatest actors and a great person, and The Truman Show makes me cry each time I see it again, and again. The plot is perfect and the actors too...It's a really beautiful tribute to the freedom and the life. In my top 5 favorite movies. The one and only which makes me cry because both happiness and sadness.

This movie is a visionary masterpiece. Thanks you Jim for your talent !

  • we're all like ! Truman !!! freeeeeedoooooooom

  • Sorry, 1000 Airplanes on the Roof. He also wrote an unusual album called 'Songs From Liquid Days' which is rather out there.

  • The whole of the Truman Show soundtrack can be purchased on Amazon and, apart from Chopin in the middle, it is all Philip Glass and Burkhard Dalwitz (or however it is spelt). For more phenomenal music by Glass check out Pruitt Igoe, Glassworks, Cloudscape, Cities of Ancient Lands ('China' and 'India) Einstein on the Beach and 100 Airplanes on the Roof. You will not be disappointed.

For other stuff LIKE Glass you may find 'Short Ride in a Fast Machine' by John Adams to your liking.

  • THE CONCEPT OF THIS MOVIE IS EXCELLENT...think abou your own lives for aminute...is ther esomething we want to do...and we just can't ?or what not..think

  • "In case I don't see ya; good afternoon, good evening and good night!" *retarded smile*

i loved the parts where he said that.

  • 63 people recognised synthesised instruments and disliked this video.

  • bitch where the link to download the fucking song!!!

  • Poor jim carey everyone thinks of him as just some crazy guy but hes a really good actor i think he should start taking himself more seriously and get into more serious roles, kind of like Will smith did he went from "fresh prince" to "7 pounds" (i personaly thought 7 pounds was better than fresh prince)

  • @DerateoHD Agreed. Watch him in Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, academy award deserving acting.

  • @DerateoHD I agree. I think his best films have been serious roles for example The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

I wish he wouldn't act in CRAP.... like that recent penguin movie.... urgh

  • @DerateoHD Seven Pounds was a really amazing tale. With, in my opinion, a sketchy ending, but a great movie, nonetheless. Step one was I Am Legend, though...and I Am Legend was a masterpiece. Maybe even you can consider the beginning at I, Robot... I don't know, but Jim Carrey will always live in my heart as this role. A beautful ending to a great movie.

  • Comment removed

  • @DerateoHD i thought 'The number 23' was an ok one. also: how could you compare 7 Pounds to THE FRESH PRINCE!!? that show is what made his career. i would turn down almost every movie he made/will make over that show any day.

  • He's tried now and again but, especially commercially, Jim Carrey has simply never done as well in his more serious roles...which is a shame because those roles are usually very good.

  • okay I am 31, remember this movie coming out and wanted to see it but never did until two hours ago . . . omfg that was one of the greatest movies i have ever seen. . . i don't think a single film has ever had me rooting so hard for a protagonist. . . tearing up for the ending. . . or caring about someone so much as this film did. . . this is my new favorite movie of all time

  • l get fucking goosebumps whenever l watch this scene, he nearly died and what does he do? he raises the sail! ,gets on with it.

    the power of the mind.

    GO TRUMAN!!

  • This is not a movie. This is art.

  • @joefreeman856 and it couldn't have been done without Philip Glass.

  • Just hurts my eyes to be honest

  • @nelsiebitch: There's truth in there... life is real, but in a sense it is "all fake": This world is merely a bad copy of how it was intended to be...

  • to think our lives could all be a illusion...i always taught that when i was a child that it was all fake.... yet i am still at two minds..

  • :'o

  • some people never understand this movie

  • this soundtrack made the movie! so epic so emotions!

i want that soundtrack to be played on my funreal =]

  • I really hoped for an extended ending where the director kills himself because Truman sues him for everything he's worth.

  • what infuriates me is the audience's reaction to his freedom. "WHOOO FREEDOM!! Wonder whats on the other channel..."

  • @loopofpoop That line was a just a social commentary and was used to great affect imo

  • this and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind were jim carrey's best movies

  • May I say, this is one of the best Jim Carrey films ever. The song just makes me want to rewatch the entire movie. It is up there with Eternal Sunshine, but I think this has more heart. :)

  • J'aime beaucoup ce travail sur ces images, à mi-chemin entre la photo et la video... ça donne encore plus d'intensité à ces scènes du film... superbe musique (Philip Glass je présume), bravo !

  • He could've stayed in the "perfect world" that was designed for him.... yet he chose to move forward to-the real world and face things he does not know. But that is real, n ot fake. That challenges me deeply. It is one of the most amazing movies!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • pure philosophy

  • one of my all time favorite movies, and definitely my favorite Jim carry flick

  • i think 2:04 ; they wanted to show a parallel betreen jesus and truman; it seems, he walks over the water and the stairs are the metaphorical highlight par excellence

  • läuft grade ;)

  • 1:21 click and stop the video; that is really one of the best pictures of hollywood

  • 0:21 i think one of the best hollywood pictures

  • this shows, jim carrey is a very qualitative actor

  • Can you write your next answer in English, please so I can understand it, thanks.

  • Some of them want to abuse you, some of them want to be abused by you, some of them want to be real and so free....Get up !

    Say no to illuminati World.

  • Sometimes i have felt that the cosmos around us is just a giant 3D wallpaper and there is nothing beyond lol.

  • The sky is literally the limit!

  • I always wished the movie showed when he goes through the doorway, where he goes, and what he does. I guess thats what makes it so special

  • @MysticDMBherb yeah

leaves you to making your own story to what happens

  • Jim Carrey ist one of the best actors ever. I love how he can totally turn into the role he plays. Shure, he still is like he is, but in this movie he acts simply perfect! I could not imagine any other actor better for this movie and this role.

  • hello

    a great video!

  • It kind of ruined the atmosphere when i farted in the middle.... woopsy

  • I didn't know that Philip Glass composed this! I'm learning "Company" on my violin!

  • Philip Fucking Glass

  • one of my favorite movies of all time easily

  • Jim Carrey is the only actor who can pull off such a movie ;)

  • Peter Weir in an interview, revealed the the 1998 movie, ‘The Truman Show’ was based on Michael Jackson. “You watch The Truman Show and, I mean, Jim Carrey did a fantastic job, but Michael Jackson is Truman. He’s who I based him on and he is the nearest thing to Truman.

  • most. underrated. movie. ever.

  • "In case I don't see ya', good afternoon, good evening, and good night."

I swear to god I cried during this scene. It's just so emotional. Truman knows nothing of the world outside the world that has been created for him. His discovery of all this madness revolving around him is just so overbearing. Truman overcomes his fears and sets sail for the new world. Literally. And he finds it. He finds the place than nobody ever told him about. The place he'd only suspected was there mere days ago.

  • @Acorntub (Cont.) His conversation with the director is probably one of the best scripted wrap-ups to any film I've ever seen. I've seen enough to fill a library, and this one just stands out to me for some reason. Carrey's performance in this is inspiring to us all. And the director too. He's like a father. We need to all find the door to the world we never knew existed. That world is the world where all our dreams come true. Keep going, Truman. Keep right on going.

  • @Acorntub Me too... i don't cry by watching movies but this really got to me.

  • @Acorntub i cried when i saw the movie... i cried when i read this... I GOD!

  • @Acorntub

Great movie, and technically, by discovering this outside world he is an explorer like he always wanted to be.

  • @Acorntub it made me cry to

  • Philip Glass makes up for all the flotsam of politics.

  • Story: Five stars

    Characters: Five stars

    Music: Five stars

    Ending: Five stars

    Movie: The Best.

  • Christof controls the Show, but who controls reality?

  • @ZenitYerkes

reality is not controlled, thats why we have a problem dealing with it.

  • @1:20 this is how I feel sometimes

  • after i saw this movie, i heard a few girls saying how twilight is one of the great art narratives of our time.....i never face palmed so hard...

they just dont make movies like this anymore....

  • @789123456789 Couldn't agree more, twilight doesn't deserve most the credit it gets. These are the true great films that are slowly forgotten.

  • @MrSpennewyn No kidding, Twilight is nothing but a story of a girl who decides between necrophilia and bestiality...

  • @789123456789 Hhahaha face palmed. Agreed yo :(

  • Comment removed

  • @789123456789 Wow, people always say, 'They just don't make movies/albums/anything like this anymore'...

This movie was made 11 years ago!!!! It's not even that old really, God! I think people just get really excited sayi8ng that phrase. ' They just don't write comments like that anymore!' lol They still make great movies, they till make bad movies, they make everything in between nothing has changed

  • The reason Twilight sucks is because it is overexposed by the media and everyone is hyped into a frenzy about it. Same as Justin Bieber and Nickleback. (I don't like any of these, I like classic rock and films by Tarkovsky. I've just been hearing that phrase through the 80's, 90's, 00's and I STILL hear it, lol. They just don't make em like that anymore. That's my rant for the day, have a good one, ha.

  • @deathfalk i agree but whats your problem with nickelback

  • @Amorstopineed It's commercialized music for the masses, like the new StarWars movies;made to appeal to as many wallets as possible, with a lead singer who has a girls hairdo and perfectly touched up with makeup, the music is the same, flawless and soulless. This is my opinion and I'm not changing it and I know that most people LOVE to hate successful people, but I don't hate Led zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Daniel Johnston, or the movies of Andrei Tarkovsky, becauseit's qualitywork forthe sakeofArt.

  • @deathfalk yeah, it seems that nickelback prefer to listened by the crowd. but you can`t compare their music to justin bieber or lady gaga, which is high proof mainstream. but i also love the work from john williams ( composer of star wars/ all spielberg movies) he maybe acclompishes the masses with hi compositions, but it dont mean, that these compositions are bad and commercial.

but i prefer bands or singers, who are less popular, and who made good music

  • I just think it's funny that a movie will come out and people will say, ' They don't make em like this anymore', I've actually heard this, lol. What do you think you're watching then??????? I sound crazy, I know, I've been drinking all night and just being a loser, lol later freighters!

  • @789123456789 i agree. but i think, today there are still good movies, and i dont mean twilight or mainstream shiaat. the problem is, you only need such an great idea like in "the truman show". there are not so many movies which are liked by the mass, got such a critical aspect and philosophical message. "the truman show" is one of them, but one of less...

  • @789123456789 shout the girls your argument pls into their face

  • @789123456789 No the thing is people just dont appreciate movies like they used to

  • @789123456789 Twilight was made 4 girls jus to show Edward and Jacob and how they show their feelings to Bella, Gay :/

  • @789123456789 i think, truman show is very seldom. you dont ever get such a well mix; comedy, drama, and criticism to the world

  • @789123456789 If the most say twilight is the best film, then twilight is the best film, but if twilight is the best film, then is the favor of the people crap!

  • @789123456789 i hope you became leonidas and kicked them into a bottomless pit while screaming "this is sparta"

  • @Mrben1111116 agreed.

  • questo è x me il film piu bello!!!!!

  • 50 people dont know what depth really is...

  • This made my nipples hard.

  • whats the song

  • People who say they arent a fan of Jim Carrey havent seen this movie, or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It's no coincidence he's the lead in two of my favorite movies.

  • Why is he so upset over a beautifully painted matte? I never understood this.

  • @MegaFlyingPilot your name should read 'megafuckingidiot' work it out, or is you mind that 2-dimensional?

  • GRAN PELICULA Y GRAN BANDA SONORA. UN 10

  • same composer DUH HA

  • the music from this movie was so much like 'the hours'..anyone??

  • @LetTheRightOneIn19 Yeah, Philip Glass does excellent work.

  • i have to say, this is one of my favourite movie

  • Did anyone else find this movie similar to "The Allegory in the Cave"

  • This movie was the perfect example of music and acting going hands in hands. Carrey was brilliant and so was the music. Always loved watching it.

  • my favourite movie of all time!

  • joyness333....you said it right. i have nothing to add.

  • Jim Carey deserved an Oscar for this and so did the movie, hell best picture.

  • This is probably the saddest movie I have ever seen. And not because of the movie itself, but because of the questions it leaves you afterwards. You're left wondering if he'll ever lead a normal life. You're left wondering how he'll make up for everything he lost. He lost so much.

  • @ultimatekai

he will die in the first corner ;)

  • @ultimatekai

he is a jobless, homeless, moneyless, friendless, familyless people out of his world

  • @ultimatekai that's what made it so great, it doesn't matter what he goes onto, the point is, it's his choice to make now =]

  • i watched this at some event thing, without even having heard of it. it was amazing. it left me silent, taken my breath away. i was thinking for days about it, thought provoking

  • amazing

  • I loved the end, but i nearly cried in it :D:D:D:D ITS A GREAT MOVIE

  • My best favourite movie :)

  • @steve99991

I totally agree, hes a very underrated actor. I love this film.

  • When I saw this film, I started looking for camera's in my bedroom. 0_o

  • can anyone give me the link where he sees his dad????

    love the bkground music

  • beautfiul...inspiring..creative.

  • what song is this?

  • wenn sich die oder der Hersteller interessiert. Ich habe auch ein Vidieo auf Youtube. "Die reise ins Licht" . Ist zum entspannen. Mal die Augen zu machen.

    schau einfach rein

  • Ein Sehr guter Film. !!!! Jim Carrey is the BEST !!!!!!

  • We are each completely free to make choices about how we will live, what we will believe and what we ignore.

If you find life unbearable, recognize that 99.5% of perception is false. Those who dig and find that .5% of truth are quite content. They live free, loving and productive lives.

Quietly secure, they fear no future.

    I am one of them.

  • Insecurity, fear, lies, feelings captivity are part of our existence. Ignoring that, is what I call, false perception.

  • @AprilStrike

That's one of the best comments I read on youtube.

  • Comment removed

  • @AprilStrike After reading this, I was stuck into an ocean of memories and thoughts. I thought about doing something about my life, changing the negativity. Non the less, I have always tried, but this time it happened. Now I live a positive, loving and productive life. I, indeed, fear no future.

This changed my life. Thank you.

  • Allegory of Cavern

  • @joyness333 spot on m8, well put, totally love this film.

I cry every time and i dont care what people think of that either haha.

  • "We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented."

    Awesome movie and ending.

  • best film ever!!!

  • very nice soundtrack...

  • GOOD

  • Wanted to see the end of the movie without all the fade in out crap!

  • This was a brilliant fucking movie. It played out perennial philosophical concepts in both a profound and poetic manner. I would venture to say one of the best across several decades. The ending knocks all endings out of the water; humanity pounding at the sky as it is both the exit and the lid to our existence, however we choose to look at it. The succinct message remains long after I watched it.

  • thats a very interesting comment ive just seen this in a totally different perspective thank you :)

  • @Joyness333 that is actually the most beautiful comment i have ever read on youtube! (i learned to spell beautiful off Jim Carrey)

  • @Joyness333 dude i dont know half the shit you just said. but im with ya!

  • Must agree with you.

From the day I saw this film in the cinema many years ago, I was fixated.

I remember at the start of the film when the light comes out the sky from nowhere and smashes into his street, thinking oh no, this is going to be some weird meaningless film but how wrong I was.

Most actors stay in their comfort zone sticking with what they beleive they are best at, however Carey is just so very very diverse,

Makes me wonder, are we all starring in our very own show?

    peace..

  • @Joyness333

    I totally agree! :-)

I wish you the most fullfilling way of your life!

    Enjoy.

  • @Joyness333 totally agree with you...do you happen to know the peice of music that accampannies this final scene, i would love to know

  • @Joyness333 i taotally agree...do you happen toknow the piece of music that accompanies this great final scene

  • @Joyness333 That has to be one of the most intelligent comments on youtube. And the ending to this film is legendary. I would have loved to see him reunite with sophie though. Also the music could have been FAR better had the composing been left to somebody such as Hans Zimmer.

  • @Atheist269 Hanz Zimmer could improve this soundtrack you say? I think not.
