How can you know you experienced the holy spirit? Usually we say we experienced X and then later investigate what the theory best explaining X is. It's begging the question to ascribe an experience to a theory when questioning which theory is best. Your way is equivalent to saying mold in my refrigerator proves the spontaneous generation theory of biology correct! I do not doubt that you had an experience, but you can't know that it is best explained by the supernatural and not psychology.

This is a great example of a specific prophecy which did not come true from the bible.Nebuchadnezzar was supposed to conquer and destroy tyre, just as the verse predicts, but completely fails. it is later conquered by alexander the great, but tyre was never reduced to "bare rock" to "never be rebuilt again" is stands today. want more examples? i have many.

in order for a prophecy to be valid, it must state in detail X event to happen in Y city on Z date. Otherwise it is considered to be vague and anyone can make vague prophecies and watch them come ture decades or centuries after the fact.
and saying a prophecy can be fulfilled at a later time takes all the risk out of a prophecy. If theres a prophecy that says isreal will be destroyed in the future, well hello obviously sooner or later that could happen, even if its 50,000 years from "oh the bible was right" no. also the prophecy of jesus birth and life is not valid, because theres no proof jesus existed. there has to be overwhelming secular proof that the prophecies came true, which there isn't. and u didnt go to the site i see.
if i make 100 predictions, and one comes true, that does not make me a prophet. Also, the prophecy cant be something that could be fulfilled solely because the prediction exist (i.e. i say that tomorrow a building will blow up on fake st in cali, so someone decides after hearing the prediction to go blow up a building on that street)

How can you know you experienced the holy spirit? Usually we say we experienced X and then later investigate what the theory best explaining X is. It's begging the question to ascribe an experience to a theory when questioning which theory is best. Your way is equivalent to saying mold in my refrigerator proves the spontaneous generation theory of biology correct! I do not doubt that you had an experience, but you can't know that it is best explained by the supernatural and not psychology.

As hitchens points out, humans have been here for say 100k years (the low end). So, for ~98k years, heaven does nothing while we suffer, infant mortality is high, nat. disasters are occurring, false worship occuring, etc. etc. and decides to intervene in the middle of nowhere illiterate middle east. But if jesus is god incarnated, then...why would he need to sacrifice himself to himself to change a rule that he made himself to keep himself from sending everyone to hell? couldn't this all have been prevented from the beginning? god isn't perfect if he needs a NT.

also think about this...if God is real and is as great as he is...who are we to question his ways of doing things...i mean lets say for that sake of argument that God is real and its all true....is it really so hard to then believe that there might be a few things that maybe he understands that we dont?

now i could give you 50 prophecies that didnt come true, and im sure you could twist them in a way where they could be interpreted not as false prophecies but as being misread or not fulfilled yet. and i would have to say you were in denial. fact is the bible is NOT perfect, it has many, many flaws. just as all religious literatures are filled with many, many flaws.

and as far as religion is concerned im with you 100% i HATE religion...."religion" in my personal opinion is the reason why so many people DONT believe in Jesus...im not into religious non-sense and all those rules that the Catholic church doctrine has that have NOTHING to do with the bible...i hate religion...but I love Jesus and believe his sciprtures are eternal truth

This is a great example of a specific prophecy which did not come true from the bible.Nebuchadnezzar was supposed to conquer and destroy tyre, just as the verse predicts, but completely fails. it is later conquered by alexander the great, but tyre was never reduced to "bare rock" to "never be rebuilt again" is stands today. want more examples? i have many.

i dont know what to say...the only one twisting profecy around is the website that you are getting ur information on??...Tyre was attacked by Babylon for a 13 year span after that profecy and there are plenty of secular works of that time that document the atrocites that were brought upon Tyre at that time...the city was destroyed according to the non biblical accounts of Josephus

The city needed to be liternally re-built from the ground up completely new haveing nothing to do with the old city....the fact that the builders of the new city and new generation of Tyre decided to keep the old citys name does not mean the profecy did not come true

but the scripture says that it would be ruins forever. But i suppose you could interpret it that way that even though it was rebuilt, and is still called tyre, its still canon with prophecy. like i said there are many ways to interpret what each passage of the bible means, something i consider to be a major flaw of the bible. Lets agree to disagree on prophecies for now, and move on to some other parts of the bible, where they are scientifically wrong about many things.

in order for a prophecy to be valid, it must state in detail X event to happen in Y city on Z date. Otherwise it is considered to be vague and anyone can make vague prophecies and watch them come ture decades or centuries after the fact.

and saying a prophecy can be fulfilled at a later time takes all the risk out of a prophecy. If theres a prophecy that says isreal will be destroyed in the future, well hello obviously sooner or later that could happen, even if its 50,000 years from "oh the bible was right" no. also the prophecy of jesus birth and life is not valid, because theres no proof jesus existed. there has to be overwhelming secular proof that the prophecies came true, which there isn't. and u didnt go to the site i see.

if i make 100 predictions, and one comes true, that does not make me a prophet. Also, the prophecy cant be something that could be fulfilled solely because the prediction exist (i.e. i say that tomorrow a building will blow up on fake st in cali, so someone decides after hearing the prediction to go blow up a building on that street)

i coundnt agree more that all the profecy of the bible must be fufilled for it to be true...the fact of the matter is Jesus fufilled ALL of the old testimate profecies about his first comming as Messiah...and that which has not happened yet is only because it involves his second comming...some profecy concerned his first coming but most concern his 2nd and thats y they have not yet happened..not because the bible has failed any 100% test but because they cleary concern the 2nd comming

i dont know what examples u are talking about as far as these "failed profecies" u speak of...and as far as YOU saying profecy MUST meet a level of SPECIFICITY that is irrelevent to wether profecy is true..if God gives his prophet a profecy that says "this city will be destroyed by the romans in this year" and it happens by the romans in that year...u cant turn around and say "just cuz God didnt name the specific month and week in that year it happened that means the profecy isnt true."

these profecies u say that have not come true are either profecies that are not to be fufilled until a later time or profecies that you are mis-reading because you are looking for something to criticize...keep in mind bible profecy is something to be studied deeply by those who read the bible and want to understand what is being written...i became a Christian at 17 and when i first read different profecies it was all crazyness to me and left my head spinning

as i read the scriptures more and more and grew in the Lord little by little it began to make sense to me...and no pastor brainwashed me nor did i see some TV show that make me believe in bible monsters...as i truely read the bible and dug deeper into it and began searching for answers with all my heart...little by little my questions were answered

i know. i believe you. thats how every person who believes in every religion feels. they whether its christianity, islam,mormonism, buddhism, etc. all people genuinely feel they have found the right answers. and thats great, if it makes them a better person, then fantastic. However, the fact is religion leads to fanaticism, which leads to hatred, murder, and war. fanaticism can be VERY dangerous to our world, which is why i am against religion. thers other ways to feel warm in your heart.
