Hi, thanks for sharing! Thats a very sharp version of this song. Forget the Stones(joke!). And this is for BCRSIX and Tony: Every musician has a template for each song. Otherwise it is only improvisation. IMHO JW doesn`t perform this one better. To the styles of both: JW is the Blues/Funk/Soul -based man and basically faster in his fingers, especially with the solos and WW as a Hardrock/60`s - Style music - player better in riffs and the mix of solo- and rhythm - guitar. Keep on rockin`!
Hey Tony - You're a super lucky guy to have seen both. I wish I could say the same. I just have to rely on YouTube videos. Keep on rockin', dude! And thanks for the "heads-up".
I've always been an admirer of Wachtel's playing. He's a genius, however, this does not come anywhere near the intensity of Johnny Winter's version. In fact, compared to Johnny Winter's version (which this is obviously a copy of), THIS SUCKS!
@BCRSIX This is a shitty old bootleg with crappy sound etc etc. These guys are really tight and so is Johnny. I've seen both up close live and making comparisons when there are so many variables at live gigs is just plain dumb. It's apples and oranges my friend, especially when it comes to two top of the line musicians.
Waddy is a great soloist but is also an exceptional chord player BUT he has a template for each song. Johhny just plays a totally different style, much more improvisation.
Waddy is among the greats as a guitarist! I've seen him with Stevie Nicks, Joe Walsh, Keith Richards, just to name a few. This guy has played with everyone! He's just a great musician and his love for jammin' shines through. You can see he does it because he digs playin' first and foremost.
Yes, Waddy is still playing at The Joint in L.A. on most Monday nights. Check the Waddy Wachtel Band Myspace page or Waddy Wachtel web site for upcoming gigs.

Who needs Martin Scorsese, when you can make Jumping Jack Flash sound like this?!
Just the right, raunchy guitar sound and fantastic players. Thanks a lot, I needed that!
