you would think, but any one who ice fishes regularly will know, some days, perch just have lock jaw. we have so many, and such big perch on lake st clair, that we can legaly spear them from jan till the end of feb. those slow days where they wont bite traditional tackle, we scratch their backs for em.

Awesome video CaptDonMc! It totally captured many of the days I've spent out on that lake spearing pike and perch. So much fun!! Even better when you take them home, clean them and eat them that night for dinner! I'm with you... if the big ones don't bite... sometimes you have to give them the 'ol spear. Costerhout569 obviously doesn't live in the beautiful state of MI where we do! A sportsman's paradise with spearing perks! Think we are only one of three states with these rights. So cool!

It is amazing how perch school up like that. Especially on St.Clair though, as soon as they come, they can be gone. However, somedays you stay on top of them all day and just slam em.
