is this the crest theatre in sacramento california? And i really do thank your grandfather's service; who knows where i'd be if it were for people like your gramps.
At the start of the war the military was not the same military seen in WWII. It was an occupation force, under supplied, massive cuts in defense spending, not enough attention spent to combat exercises. Part of this was the general belief that the atomic bomb rendered such massive fighting unlikely as Gen. Omar Bradley stated to congress in 1949 when he said an amphibious landing of the D-day type was a thing of the past. Boy was he wrong.
I only recently looked in to this conflict, being English it wasn't a war we were heavily involved in. I was working with a guy who's 75 and he just started talking about it. He burst in to tears and kept saying "have you ever seen women and children burning?" He said it was the first time he'd ever spoken about it, I guess it needed to come out. I've never seen such anguish in a human being - the things these people had to see and go through humbles me.
These men individually are hros no doubt, they served their people and they humble me in the lengths they have gone to serve their countries, i have unlimited respect for them :) thank you interesting video!
My grandfather served in Korea. During his time there he was wounded twice. He passed 10 years before I was born and I dearly wish I could have known him.
South Korea would not have succeeded with companies like Samsung, LG and Hyundai if United States never helped us. South Korea is recognized by the world because American and the U.N soldiers bled to keep the south of 38th parellel alive. Special thanks to those who served in the military during this time. I wouldn't be a Korean-American New Yorker, if it wasn't for great honorable men such as your father.
when i visited the US in 1988 i spoke to a vietnam vet who said he thought that fighting in korea was worse than vietnam but has largely been forgotton.
My Gamps was in the Korean War his name was Dean Wright he told me storys about this and taught me alot of good things while my dad & mother was off partying I considerd him as my dad and he taught me how to farm and be a real man. He died Monday Dec. 18th of 09 worste day of my life. I want this comment to go out to every ones hearts that was in this war and God Bless you all.
@ytut my grandpa was white but he was in the 179th infantry thunflderbird division In the us army he had a few puerto ricans in his platoon. Plus godbless the Korean war vets, I wish the kwar vets got some more respect for what they did
Most of you don't know but the all puertorican 65 regiment did a lot in the Korean War, they were so known in the US army that they were usually called THE BORINQUEENERS they were one of the best all hispanic regiments in the armed forces.
very nice.I like to here it from the men who were there.I love taliking to them. The subject of war can be emotional for them,so it's hard to ask. Thanks for sharing.
This is absolutely amazing. i Was Just Researching the Korean War, Trying to Get in Touch with Family History of What i Knew NOTHING about. i Just Found out my Grandfather Served in the Korean War.
Thanks for making this, it's great. My grandfather was in the Marines in the Korean War. He died before I could really remember anything about him (I was a baby when he died). I really wish I could have known him more. It's great to hear things like this documentary.
Thanks to all veterans who served during the Korean War. Too many people today aren't aware of the ultimate sacrifice that thousands of Korean war veterans gave to protect South Korea.
Thank you for this touching testimonial. My dad was one of the proud Chosin Few, lied about his age to join the Marines. I did get some of his memories on tape before his passing. What a legacy for our families to remember these heroes! May our country never forget their sacrifice as well as those giving their all to this very day to guard our freedom.
kids who lied about thier age just so they could do thier bit in the war were crazy, being a young KID in war must be hell, you gandfather had balls and i sulute him.
Thank you for making that kind of documentary on YouTube. It is a brilliant example, how people could learn history from men whom experienced that time. Experienced terrible time and survived it, to tell us what happend. Just watch and learn!!!Great job!!!

Thank you very much for your comments. I did this because my dad has cancer, and when I have children, I want them to know his story and be proud of all Veterans of the United States. I hope more veterans will share their story with all of us. All they need is someone to video tape them. If you ever make a recording of yourself, please let me know. Have a great day.
