There are questions about why we were fighting in Vietnam and why we didn’t fight ”to win” (that is to crush the enemy as we surely could have). The same questions apply to the conflicts we are involved with today. But those questions are apart from and unrelated to the quality of the people who answer the call to defend our nation and what I would call “American ideals” (individual liberty and freedom from oppression). Wars are not perfectly executed but sometimes necessary.
A fine example of American patriotism and most importantly sacrifice in protecting not just our freedom but millions of others in the world. Take a look at the Korean war where 50k Americans lost their lives. It was not for conquest, greed, nor financial gain, but for freedom against communist tyranny.
