He should be suspended for at least a year for making reckless contact with the player's head regardless of whether it was deliberate or not. Actually I just realized, this was fully intentional by Ballard. Just look where ballard is looking as he swings his club. He's looking straight at vokoun. If he was intenting to break his club on the post and accidentally hit the goalie, wouldn't he be looking at the post? And also he just skates away happily after injuring Vokoun, not even checking if hes all right, which I presume he would if it was an accident.

He was looking at the post and the trajectory of his stick is clearly at the post as well, if Vokoun hadn't risen his head slightly it wouldnt even have hit him, and even then it only grazed the side of his head, which caused more injury due to less padding but would not be the case if he was aiming for his head. There's no reason someone would take out his own goaltender... never in a million years.

yes i will agree with you all OV's hit was dirty. The one thing i must say to it is that as a hockey player i will alot of times try to lay a big hit on someone for momentum, but it does happen when the guy dodges you knee him. not on purpose it just happens so fast you have no time to react. When your skating straight towards someone your legs are already out for balence so when he skates to the side most of the time the knee is there he just skates into it. but its your opinion

Bush league is a good way to describe last night's play. I have no idea what the League will do with OV. He is clearly a repeat offender, suspended or not, at leading a hit with the knee. You can pretty much tell when he assumes a certain gliding posture whats coming. I wish both players a speedy recovery and a long suspension for OV when he's ready to suit up. You can say that headshots are coincidental sometimes, but leading with the knee is a 100% proposition.

Yes he does, and he doesn't at the same time. remember the board hit a couple of days ago. It's the second time he's getting major penalties for plays like this. Remember the other knee on knee hit OV did to Gonchar I think.Think about it. These plays were intended to harm the player in my opinion, but they were more of a reflex and when you're on the ice you have very little time to think about what you do. This is what may happen to an aggressive player. I love OV, but I wish he get suspended.
