Gsn can kiss my ass... They have done so much skipping of shows that it makes me want to vomit... Don't give me that crap about shows being ruined and all that.. GSN does not want to show the rest of them PERIOD... They spit on Peter and Rod's memory and that saddens me...
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT! I meen the tapes where too old, thats bull. GSN airs shows from the late 50's and 60's and they are fine. They lie as soon as look.
the prize music is more jazzier in the 1st 23-24 episodes its NOT the age of the tape cuz i have a episode that has the exact same prize music and the quality of the episode is damn near perfect for a USA
It has a glossier synth sound to it. I think it's a different version. Remember, this is premiere week, where nothing short of everything is different.
Well, there really isn't a good way to confirm it. I would of liked to have seen the Christmas 1983 and 1985 shows myself. I guess the people at GSN and Fremantle Media knows what exists and what's been history.
The episodes that GSN keeps showing are the ones that GSN has leased for so far. Currently, they have aired around 450 episodes (#110-#559, 2/21/1984-11/15/1985). It's unknown when (and if) GSN will re-negotiate its PYL contract to lease for more episodes of the show.
Sadly, I think those original master tapes are long gone. Especially since gsn showed the Christmas 84' episodes in December, that gave an early indication that there history. The only way I believe anyone can see them is if anyone has copies of the CBS and USA airings and post them on here.
Do you have proof to back this up? Because I haven't heard anything about those episodes of PYL being long gone. If anything, those episodes should still exist.
BULL-$#@%! When GSN first promoted PYL in 2001, those clips of those Whammies were actually from 1986! They just wanna be cheap and not folk out the dough to get those eps.!
The only 1986 Whammy that appeared in GSN's promos for PYL back in 2001, was the Willie Nelson Whammy. Other whammies included the Beatles and Supremes Whammies from 1985, and the Breakdancing, Boy George, and Elvis Presley whammies from 1984.
And unfortunately, you're right. It looks like GSN's trying to go cheap on us PYL fans by not acquring those episodes.
Un;ess they're twirling their villain mustaches and saying, "Hahaha, we love torturing game show fans!", I would not go as far as calling them that word. Unfortunately business is business, it's a fact of corporate America.
Oops I meant "unless." Also...why does all the blame go to GSN when Fremantle isn't making matters easier with their prices? I wonder how GSN can have almost ALL the G-T shows, but trouble with the Grundy shows and PYL when Fremantle owns them too? (with TPIR they now have to contend with CBS too) P.S. I bet if they got '83 PYLs people would still find things to complain about; i.e. split screen credits and such. GSN bashing is just soooo boring at this point!
Maybe if GSN would STOP with the credit crunches, speed-ups and such, people like me who enjoy hearing the announcers (instead of self-promoting GSN ads) will stop bashing them!
RIP rod and peter

Hopefully GSN will get 1983 episodes of PYL this year, does anybody have 1986 episodes or 1983 of PYL?

The prize music definitely sounds different.

is it me or do the cash displays look awfully huge?

Was the prize music, that distorted sounding in the premire of this episode. Or is that the age of the tape.

that prize music cut sounds different

I was trying to figure out was the prize music jazzier, or is it just the age of the tape?

I'd like to know that too.

Un muted ending theme, YES!

I loved seeing the fee plugs in full again. And Rod Roddy doesn't even *sound* like himself. He sounds sedated!

Hope this cleared up a few things.

If course they want to cheap out out. They are ass holes. And they don't show early episodes of other shows too.
