Perfecto Michel Odent. Mil Gracias Odent.

Coming from my field experience with fathers I would identify many other issues that are connected with our modern society namely not having enough time and money to feel in control of a new situation and not being supported in the same way as the mothers are ie programing for new fathers...where is it?
I am not sure that this doctor has the ability to connect with fathers on their level, rather he looks at them through an academic lens.

I am very surprised this Dr. is so coveted. As a male nurse who works with fathers in the community I was taken aback with one of his articles in "Midwifery Matters; Spring2009 Issue 120, p13-14, 2p" where he links Postnatal depression in men with being present when their child is born.
He has such a medical model perspective in that he wants to identify the "one" problem and solve it ...like all good doctors try and do.
@crisco1999 You obviously don't know much about Michel Odent if you think he has "such a medical model"... try finding out about him before you criticize..he has EXTENSIVE actual experience with delivery, and he even started referring to himself as a midwife rather than a doctor. Additionally, some fathers ARE depressed by delivery, some aren't. I knew a couple who had to get over complete sexual dysfunction afterwards....pretty depressing.
I am sure he does have "EXTENSIVE actual experience with delivery"...I am not talking about delivery. It is widely known that anxiety and depression begins before the child is born. Try looking at some other factors and research about the cause of PPD before claiming that one event, at one moment in time, is the cause of this issue. Better yet ask a nurse.
Better yet ask a nurse? Not one with your obvious issues. Why did you need to attack (you did not just add a facet of knowledge that he overlooked, but rather questioned his worth in general) an older man with vastly more experience, based on one point he made? Did perhaps your own father have difficulty connecting with you? I never claimed that one factor was the cause of PPD. Nor do I advocate against men being present at birth..but it should be a conscious choice.
