"You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. Joe Pesci. Two reasons; first of all, I think he's a good actor. Okay. To me, that counts. Second; he looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't fuck around. Doesn't fuck around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that God was having trouble with. For years I asked God to do something about my noisy neighbor with the barking dog. Joe Pesci straightened that cock-sucker out with one visit."
One cannot mock, ridicule and insult those who try to impose their imaginary friends on the rest of us enough. Keep dishing out verbal hell to them, they had it coming and it's way overdue...
its ironic how he says "peace" at the end of the video after that spill of verball violence and intolerence...its not clear, so is he anti-semitic or not cause he just contradicted himself a few too many times there. sounds like he's just intolerent period.
@soulfood4life - Yep, if there's anything ol' Pat cannot tolerate, it's religious intolerance. BTW regarding his violence, I'm quite sure he's just responding in kind to the world's religions that promise hellfire and suffering or everlasting death for those who don't agree with them.
its ironic how he says "peace" at the end of the video after that spill of verball violence and intolerence...its not clear, so is he anti-semitic or not cause he just contradicted himself a few too many times there. sounds like he's just intolerent period.
I am happy that we live in a world were ignorance, misinformation, bitterness and immaturity are able to be posted online for free. Your inability to comprehend even the most basic and fundamental parts that virtually all religions since the beginning of human civilization share, is remarkable. You spent almost 7 minutes justifying your ignorance over something that you really don't want to understand. Good Job!
Stupid statement. I rather doubt any street thug has ever called the Police when his/her victims fought back. Talk about intolerance (and ignorance.)
Oh well while you are on your "hi" horse why not bend over and kiss your own "bum". It would be a better us of your time and would make for a better statement of your non-beliefs that your ramblings.
"flim flam" is my new favourite phrase. it is time that the logical population of the world made their voice heard amongst the jibba jabba that spews from the herds of brainwashed, pseudo-nazi idiots. religion is a relic of barbaric times, one that should be double flushed down the toilet of time, to spend eternity in the overflowing sewer of evil shit...
@lopezdy - You're an atheist like Pat if you don't believe in God. So why are you going after a fellow atheist? Pat has freedom of speech to ridicule the excesses of religious extremism.
It seems silly to tell him or anyone on the Internet to "SHUT UP". The Internet is about the free exchange of ideas.
The difference between the preaching of Pat Condell and the preaching by religions is that Pat doesn't try to invoke fear by saying what an imaginary God will do if you don't listen.
so why does he send me a personal message calling my god a peace of vomit. he is invoking fear of the other side. ok I think if you do good in the world you will be rewarded ( in this life or the next doesn't matter which one) I don't give a fuck if you believe in my god or not as long as u do good. now am I horrible or blind for think that or do you think i am just fear mongering.
an if you are foolish to think of "SHUT UP" as a literal meaning then you need to think of the emotion behind the words. a wo/man 's core ideals are attacked and you think they will say ok thank you.
@chinchoweed - If you are cool with the belief or unbelief of others, than obviously you are not fear mongering.
I found it amazing that a non-believer told Pat to "shut up". I thought non-believers would share some of Pat's ideals. If a person doesn't like what's being said or how it's being said, they can just skip the video or they can offer some insight of their own.
People have all kinds of different core ideals on YouTube. It's nothing to get emotional about.
don't you see the double standard that non-believer has the right to tell Pat's that his ideals are not rep of all non-believers with out that a man could dubble down to insanity getting more expream as he falls. also don't be thinking that emotions and religion will ever be seperate, do you think I go to church every sunday( and some otherdays) unless I had a strong emotion and youtube is just another way to express your voice and thus emotion.
and i will talk about core Ideals with you because you seem at least respectful of what I think even if you think it is wrong, pat sent me a personal message calling my god " a peice of vomit" he is a fool that uses bullying and harsh words to spread hate, he just uses flashy words to hide it. vocab is used to make a word seem more interesting and does not make it more true.
@chinchoweed - If Pat sent you such a message, that is indeed over the top. I don't usually comment on side conversations that aren't known. (It's not that I disbelieve your account of this personal message.)
Yes the non-believer certainly has the right to tell Pat whatever he wants. That's different than asking someone to "just shut up".
@chinchoweed - I'm aware of the role emotions play. Since we're interactng with people we don't know, it's probably best to think that an opposite view (no matter how strongly expressed) is "just their viewpoint" rather than tying ourselves up in emotional knots over an opposing view.
Emotions can go too far on YouTube. I'm a former Jehovah's Witness, and an emotional defender of JW's on YT has told me I should die and that I'm worse than a child molestor. How does that advance his point?
every one has extreamist like this guy Pat, so one nut ball on dah tube doesn't mean much, i can be calm but if you look at the other athiests on youtube they can seem like smugg dick head if some one calls you a wacko for a strong faith that faith is under attack and so is the believer that is why this dude freacked out or mabye he is on crack=)
A law was passed in Ireland on the 1st Jan that makes it a criminal offence to blaspheme....In 2010 for chrissakes.....The world needs people like Pat Condell who get in the faces of the free speech police.
why, why do you try to poke fun at those who think differently I am a roman catholic who smokes weed even though a pope told me not to ( was a long time ago but still) I have my free will even if the god I believe in is not real. here is a thought if pat Condell put his powerful words tward peace and not hate wouldn't the world be better off.
condell, imo, it is not religion that is at core of issue/ it is selfish drive and lust 4 power residing in all of us, including U. some use relig 2 grasp power and oppress, some use athiestic based idealogies. capiche?
@l8rthen - You speak of "atheistic ideologies". So tell me, when did someone start a war in the name of a non-God? When did someone tell their opponents "You'd better lose your religious superstition or else I will force you to be a free thinker"?
How does atheism, a lack of belief, oppress anyone who doesn't go along with it?
Even atheists who are most vocal about their philosophy do so because they're in favor of people's individual freedoms - as long as they don't infringe on others.
@cooper79jeffr , in order for communism to succeed, religionists must B removed so that athiesm can be taught. One historical ex is bolsheviks, who declared war on relig, forbid relig instruction and taught athiesm.
Communusm was the new 'non-god- as you would have it.
so enough of the claptrap that relig killed more than athiestic baased idealogies.
@l8rthen -- Your reply is a gross oversimplification of history, and a transaparent attempt to divert attention from the misdeeds done in the name of God.
Several religions actually grew during the time of communism in the USSR. Muslims were granted leeway they didn't have when being repressed by the czars who were bolstered by the Russian Orthodox church.
The Bolsheviks took political action against all meddling, interfering parties --including some but certainly not all religions.
@cooper79jeffr, give up the ad hominems; nothing here 4 U concerning transparent anythings, the comment I respinded 2 earlier was never 2 deny that atrocities were not done by religionists, but rather to rep accuracy, i.e., blaming religion for wars, killings, when in fact, many more were killed 2 further athiestic idealogies. so spin away all u want, but u fail. give up UR strawmen. refute what my orig point was, but do not change my pos and then charge at UR new windmill
RU saying that bolshevik communists were reacting 2 interfering meddling religionists? LOl. Strange wording if U were really concerned about truth. U seem 2 B reaching here 2 make sure religionists get painted black. Could U plz point out 2 me where UR railings are against those athiestic idealogies who tried 2 impose their oppressive regime on so many others?
@l8rthen - Your continued insistence on "more were killed by athiest ideologies than by religionists" seems to represent a blatantly one-sided proposition that is drilled into your head by atheist-haters. I have read so much of that stuff on the Internet.
Atheists are the minority in the world, so how can they be responsible for more killings than all the religiously-induced hatred? I just don't buy it.
You're tilting at an atheist windmill, aided and abetted by anti-atheist blogs.
@cooper79jeffr , 'insistence that more were killed by athiest based idealogies seems ???
Communism killed what, between 80 mil-100+ mil of people?
Instead of just making inane statements that something that 'seems' 2 U, why not quote some numbers?
4 U 2 even 2 take issue with millions of people killed by athiest based idealogies, suppose U tell me what numbers U had researched. How many mil has communism killed? cont.
lenin, mao, pol pot did not have 'athiestic bent' . In order 4 them 2 succeed, religon had 2 go so that ppl could be brainwashed and controlled. religionists would have opposed their athiestic oppression, i.e., human rights , slavery 2 trhe state
@l8rthen - I won't deny that Bolshevism had an atheistic bent, but there was no way they could possibly "remove" all religion and they knew it. They just acted against those who posed a threat to their power -- not just religious but other institutions as well. This was to gain power and political advantage. Attempting to entirely "remove" religion would not have been productive as it is deeply rooted. But curbing religion's power to an extent? That it COULD do.
@cooper79jeffr , then let me B alittle more precise in my wording. In order for communsim 2 take root and succeed, athiesm needed 2 B taught in schools so that sheep could B indoctrinated 2 help oppress their fellow man. What U call meddling was an influence that stood in the way of advancing athiestic communism.
@l8rthen - I support freedom of speech and belief. My view (as an atheist) is that government should have NO role in deciding what the favored religion is. People should have the freedom to believe, or not believe, as they choose.
America is becoming more multi-cultural, and should be the land of freedom. One religion's favorite God shouldn't be emphasized in our public schools. Period.
I don't support communism. Where did you get that from? Must atheists be communist?
@l8rthen - You're correct: Schools are a possible focal point for indoctrination.
I assert the deliberate de-funding of schools that started in the Reagan period led to less quality education in public schools. Sadly, many teachers have to pay for some supplies out of their meager salaries.
With an under-educated electorate, it would be easier for corporate interests to put their agenda over on America. I think this has happened, and THIS is the "indoctrination" to be concerned with.
@cooper79jeffr , our trbl with education is not dollars spent. It is with discipline and quality teaching. We pay more and grade everything on a curve, dumbing down the system. Q is not of insufficient funds. Issue is not of money that caused our students 2 graduate and still B illiterate and ignorant.
" In order for communsim 2 take root and succeed .. " This assumption lacks evidence in history. In fact you can safely assume the opposite , from historical examples of China, Russia, Albania etc we know that ignorant religious population creates perfect environment for communists to take over. Equating communism and atheism is pointless, since atheism does not necessary leads to communistic world view - Ayan Rand and similar philosophers could be used as an example of the opposite.
@cheburashka1326 , sorry dued, but no go there either. Note the word 'succeed'. Communism must teach athiesm or it's power will be challenged by other idealogies. Idealogies that would teach higher values than the state would be in conflict and interfere with indoctrination in order for the state to build on.
who is equating communism with athiesm? You can be athiestic without being communist. But for a communist empire to flourish, athiesm must be taught in order to indoctrinate the future generations of children.
Sorry I misunderstood you. As for teaching atheism, not really. If an ideology, which is communism in this case(NOT atheism, if it even can be considered an ideology), is taught in school you do not need to teach any anti theology. It is the same way that catholic school does not need to teach anti-islam to indoctrinate children. For example If there was any "anti" teaching in soviet schools it was "anti-capitalism". Church was not a problem, it coexisted with communists quite well in USSR.
@cheburashka1326 , U R incorrecft when U say that in order for communism 2 succeed, U do not need 2 teach anti-theology. U certainly do. Look to what Lenin taught and said. Look to what Mao said and taught. Look at the millions who were victims of their oppressive cruelty. Religion certainly did not co-exist well with the formation of communism.
You are shifting a topic - whatever Lenin, Mao, Stalin said is not necessarily what was taut in school, which was your main point. Second issue I dare you please find me a quote form Lenin where he called for or ordered killing/imprisonment of religious people just for their religious views. Lookup debates between Lunacharskii (minister of culture) and various church leaders. Such debates were common up to 1930-s , who do you think he was debating, if they all were oppressed?
I did notice the word succeed , I also noticed "take root", that is the part that I kind object to. Communist usually took over where people were ignorant and religious, brainwashing them into something new was a peace of cake. Indoctrination in communist dogma is necessary, as you pointed out, but form personal experience growing up in USSR I can tell you that atheism was negligible part of it. In fact participating in activities of Russian orthodox church was not that much of a big a deal.
@cheburashka1326 , if U R basing your answers on UR experience in USSR, the USSR U lived in was nothing like it's birth of communism. Please note that when communist empires were starting, purges and killings were needed. Religions was attacked in order to discredit it as the etics it taught were counter to what an athiestic based communist idealogy taught. Religion often taught values that are inconsistent with the values of the state. Athiesm fit quite well.
Whether people were superstitious is not , imo, the core issue. It was not easy for communism to rake over. That is why all the multiple years of murder, killings and oppression were necessary. That is why generations of indoctricnated athiest idealogy was used to buttress communism.
You venturing into territory that you do not seem to know. At least in USSR first wave of repression was against monarchist element(those who wanted to reinstate monarchy), and democratic/anarchist people who wanted to reinstate democratic government(of 02/1917) that communists disbanded to get to power. The only relevance religion had to that that they(Orthodox church) took monarchists side. Second /Third (the deadliest) waves were not connected to religion in any way.
You are trying to drag atheism in where it really had no place. Straggle with church(NOT RELIGION) in both societies continued up to the point the church(!) stopped opposing the state doctrine. In both societies church coexisted and it was functioning after the purges. Property of the orthodox church in Russia was confiscated in many cases for very simple reason russian orthodox church was one of the biggest property owners at the time.
mr. king was a highly religious man so is he like hitler and god is what he thought gave him the faith to rebel against racism, because it says in the bible all men are equal now if some people want to twist words for power that is not the base of the religion but in fact just basic human greed.
Agressive Atheism. Something we need more of today. Especialy back home in Jamaica, where LGBT people are toutured and killed just for being themselves. Guess where it all comes from?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
God damn you man! :))) I hate seeing you but this dang youtube keeps in showing me you just because I made a mistake and clicked one of your stupid worthless speeches..
How about the assholes killing abortion doctors as soldiers for God. Thinking it's somehow justified. Or how about "The Family" These scumbags are in congress, they're judges, and overall scary scary people.
Here is a quote from a leader of "The Family" a political Christian secret organization made up of powerful people: King David was important and it's not because he was a good man. It's because he was a bad man. You know, he seduced another man's wife, he actually had the husband murdered and he once explained why this was a model and he said it to one of the men in the group. He said, suppose I heard you raped three little girls.
What would I think of you? And this guy, being a human being says, you would think I was a monster. Well, the leader of The Family says no, not at all because you're chosen. You're chosen by god for leadership, and so the normal rules don't apply.
Tell me that's not completely, utterly, bat shit insane. These people are running our corporations, and government.
If Islamists get there way, in time there will be Muslim religious displays, and Muslim holidays being celebrated at schools.
If a certain brand of Christianity is being shoved down our throats in schools and in government buildings and in the workplace, that is just as bad as having Muslim ideology shoved down our throats.
In America -- freedom to worship does not mean forcing others to endure your or any other brand of piety.
Argument is not about what religion is worse. They all are wrong and do more bad when god.
And all what religious people have for proof for them gods is gut feeling. I tell, must have hellava guts to claim that your guts is smarter then scientists. Stop thinking with your guts and start useing brain!
Such is the result of false prophets and apostasy from truth. "...they shall call good bad, and bad good." said Jesus. It's not that the fact aren't clear, it's that people are confused. Who can blame them? Yet, Islam is the greatest evil ever existed and they breed like rabbits. My heart goes out to you Pat
I find it somewhat ironic that Christians think homosexuality is evil, but then worship a guy! They think nothing of considering the image of a semi-naked man an icon of morality....This is about as gay as you can get!
lets put those verses into context, what we read about is only the culture in which they lived. They believed sinning was against their law of the land and so it warranted death, much like people get punished for failing to adhere to the laws of our lands today. The 10 commandments were the laws they had and so this is is why people were instructed to kill.
So you defend the violence of the Old Testament by trying to put the writings into a cultural context.
This may surprise you, but I actually agree. I believe the "holy" writings of all cultures, Jews and Arabs included, are a representation of their culture.
However if the Bible really were from a universal, loving God -- it would not stoop to human levels of violence and vengeance, as the Old Testament so obviously does.
You never anwered my question about how religion and people who believe in God has stifled progress because you don't have an answer. Now let me give you a list of what atheist have accomplished. Aggresive atheism, pioneered by that maniac Madalyn Muarry O' Hare, has led to the abolition of prayer from our schools, removal of the The Ten Commandments whenever an intolerant atheist is offended; Banning of Bible-reading at school during recess; Banning of Christmans displays, etc,..
I did answer your question -- religious leaders have consistently tried to stifle scientific and social progress through the centuries, and they continue to put up resistance on both fronts -- and in cases they do succeed for a while.
BTW -- Everything you mentioned by Madalyn Murray O'Hare -- I applaud each of her efforts. Why? Because dammit this is America, home of the free. People who don't believe in a certain religion shouldn't haved it shoved down their throats.
It also says "thou shalt not kill" but there are countless verses where God tells us to kill (in both testaments) -- not just non-christians but homosexuals, "witches", false prophets, people who don't believe priests, and followers of other religions. There are so many contradictions it's amazing. There is no justification for suddenly not believing the old testament. Like how the Catholic church suddenly adapts evolution. Leaving the Catholic church was one of the best things I've ever done.
Well, actually you are supposed to believe in the old testament, idiot. People try to justify removing it because there is more ridiculous shit in the old testament rather than the new testament.
"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness..." 2 Timothy 3:16.
I was tryin not to comment but i found it tooo hard! Jorts900, where in the bible does it say we are to kill non-christians?!?!? thats an outrageous statement!!
Technically you're correct. The exhortation to kill nonbelievers is actually in the Old Testament, in places like the first 5 verses of Deuteronomy 17.
However, isn't the God of the Hebrews the same one that the Christians worshipped? I don't think a different being took over as God when the B.C.E. era was over.
The point is, some Bible-based religions preach the hateful denunciations and jeremiads found in the Old Testament, and say God will bring that wrath in our times.
"Suppose a man or woman among you, in one of your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, has done evil in the sight of the LORD... If it is true that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, then that man or woman must be taken to the gates of the town and stoned to death."
You're just as ignorant as the people flying planes into buildings for their false reality. If you think it doesn't hinder human advancement you don't deserve to be on the internet. Where would the world be if people only relied on faith. No where. Faith does nothing. A diseased individual isn't going to be healed by God. He/she will be healed from years of advancement in science. If we truly were a Christan nation, not some watered down blind faith, than this place would be a much worse place.
Couldn't agree more jorts900. In the end, full belief in faith and nothing else will lead to nothing. It creates more hate than it does love anyway. Just look at how many of the Muslim communities preach hate against none-muslims, or the crusades.
Kenwayne, you are straight clueless. The bible tells people to kill those who don't submit to the Christian God. Both the Qu'ran and versions of the Christan bible say this. You're claiming the Islamic religion is terrorism. I claim it's no different than Christianity and the Christians in office with aspirations to take the whole world over as servants for God -- powerful people believe this. The goals of religion are to get more market share to have more power.
You are an absolute tit mate!!! I myself am an atheism but at least I have a bit of self control. There's no need for you to go making videos of your ugly face moaning and wining about your views. Grow up a bit and get on with your life!!!
lol he's the one who actually has a point and hates to live among people who are narrow minded, so at least you can do it is that you tell some truth to the people.
He's not bothered by the idea of God, Wayne. Instead, he's bothered the stupidity displayed by religionists and how their ideas stifle progress and fairness.
We have the Internet and Cell-phones; We have e-mail; We have Blue-tube pieces that people attach to the ears to talk; People have laptop computers and I-pods and black-Berries and Text-messaging, cordless phones, etc,. We affirmative Action which has provided more job opportunities for minorities; Plus we have the first Black President of the United States. Please explain to me, cooper79jeffr, how the religious and people who believe in God have stifled progress and fairness.
@ kenwaynee96 Religion has stifled stem cell research, gay people's rights, woman's rights, birth control in 3rd world country's and science with rational thought in general. If you want more examples just ask.
Pat Condell has explained quite well how religions have stifled progress and fairness. However I'll go into a little more on this point.
I'm not talking about technology, I'm talking human advancement. Regarding your example of affirmative action: Fundamentalist preachers taught the blacks were a cursed race, and opposed the Civil Rights movement. Society made advancement IN SPITE of their opposition.
Now such religions have turned their opppostion towards equal rights for gays.
What do you mean by "human advancement,"? You said in your comment that "Society has made advancement IN SPITE of their opposition." Thats a self-defeating comment. I'm sorry cooper79jeffr - but I'm still in the dark about how religionist and people who believe in God have "stifled progress and fairness."
No, kenwayne -- you just want to argue and defend religion. Religions too often push back human progress. They stifle it for a while.
Religions have done this since early times. Example in past centuries, they taught the untruth that the earth was the center of the universe and persecuted scientists who dared tell the truth. Dalejr88 mentioned more examples, and there are even more.
Recently the Mormon church funded a repressive measure against gay marriage equality in California.
Did you watch the video? 1000's of years to make its and its led to nothing but violence. He believes it leads to war and intolerance. Because it does. If you open a history book there is no denying that.
I'm not going to speak in generalities - I'm going to address your reply in very specific terms. These maniac muslims who crash jet airliners into buildings, and who indiscriminately gun down people are followers of the religion of Islam. Islam advocates the destruction of Israel, the murder and slaughter of every jew possible, and the killing of all infidels (non-believers). Please don't lump every person who believes in God, or has any faith at all in with these cold-blooded murderers
It is unfortunate that some atheists immediately think all atheists must be liberal. I see nothing positive about homosexuality and forced integration. The Middle East? The United States is a puppet of Israel.
As for the Trinity being as being more polluting than fossil fuels, what is the main resource in the middle east. Are they fighting for Jerusalem or pil? As for what god has done by encouraging people to kill, who encourage people to kill for oil or money? As for your mention of peace, you are no more for peace than those terrorists are.You have a lot of faith in your beliefs and are willing to die for them, too. As for prophets, they got kill for freedom of speech. Jerusalem was the place of it.
Hmm, evolution isn't racist or homophobia. Evolution believes certain people are more apelike than others. That women are weaker than men since they aren't built like men. Gays are considered normal ? since they cannot reproduce and there is AIDS. Why should I support them since it is survival of the fittest. Why shouldn't Black people send gays back to the bus since most of the klan is gay. YOu don't think gays were some of the people who sent gays back the bus.
prove he doesnt corkboy3212. if you would take one minute out of the day to look around you would see. there is no chance in a billion we all just "happened" God is more real than you can ever imagine. Do not criticize the things you do not understand.
for you to be so close minded and bitter to even deny the fact that God does exsist is just ignorant. and one day even you will stand before Him, and be judged by Him for your actions here on this earth. and even tho religion is imporntant its more about having a relationship with God. you are in my prayers
your negativity is so appealing.. You're bleat bleat bleating is so strong..don't blow a vessel now.Wow you are so unpersuasive. The black hole in andromenon is calling you negative energy man.love,me
I'm a christian and I agree with almost everything you said. I think its sad that I am going to get stereotyped in with the idiots that do ridiculous things in my God's name. The god you're talking about is certainly not the one I'm following.
Pity you would deny the same freedom of choice/speech for someone who believes in a God? I don't care if you don't believe makes no difference to me in the slightest, but it does bother me that you would fascist like deny the right for others to believe if that is their choice! Blaming religion for all the woes of mankind is especially ignorant, it's not the religion it's the men who interpret it that have caused the problems, everyone look in the mirror to see why this planet has turned to shit
19)You shall be connected to the real truth alone, because only through it can all things prosper rightfully and lead to success, and only the real truth is in love the sign-posting (leading thought) of life.
20)Only the truth is the way that leads to your development, whereas displeasure is created on all sides by the untruth of all those who are going astray and deny the truth or replace the truth with a religious belief.
uv just said in a private email that all the nazis killed who they did because they were religious!!! The army today swear to god and country but it doesn't make everything they do a religious affair!
Hitler did not kill all those people because he was religious!! Wat r u on?
Religion responsible for the most deaths? Hows about these? Genghis Khan 1233 4,000,000 deaths Adolf Hitler 1945 20,946,000 deaths Chiang Kai-shek 1948 10,000,000 deaths Kublai Khan1279 19,000,000 deaths Vladimir Lenin 1924 4,000,000 deaths Leopold II of Belgium 1908 10,000,000 deaths Pol Pot 1987 2,000,000 deaths Joseph Stalin 1953 43,000,000 deaths Hideki Tojo 1945 4,000,000 deaths Mao Zedong 1976 38,000,000 deaths most of these were anti-religious! need i say more...
Yes, you can say more, How about giving a number of deaths when god flooded the entire planet and drowned ALL people.(Including babys, children and pregnant women etc......
Only Stalin on your list is a true atheist. Hitler was a Catholic and religious anti Semitism bred by the church since the time of the mythical character of jesus can be directly blamed. The catholic church even aided the Nazi's in identifying and locating Jews. After WWII not a single Nazi was excommunicated from the Catholic Church. You list is compete nonsense, and typical of the religious twisting of facts (of course religion isn't used to dealing with facts)
"Christianity is an invention of sick brains: one could imagine nothing more senseless, nor any more indecent way of turning the idea of the Godhead into a mockery." Adolf Hitler.
Hitler used Christianity to foster distrust against Jews but he also hated it and saw it unfitting for his master race.
And it were local Catholic congregations and not the whole church that cooperated in the hunting of Jews. Vatican city itself hid jewish refugees and later arranged their escape.
"As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice. " Adolf Hitler
As for the vile instituition of the church you well know that the vatican knew about locating jews. The pope could easily have excommunicated the catholic Nazi's after the war. However, the pope doesn't like to punish evil people. EG, the current pope spent years covering up the crimes of his peadophilic priests.
Doesn't seem to hold up to the fact that thousands of non-aryan christians were sent to concentration camps along with Jews though.
I may need an example of the Vatican helping the nazis round up Jews ;) cite reliable sources please.
*Sigh* lemme clear up the concept of excommunication. It's for dissidents and sinners who may choose to seek repentance and forgiveness later. Also look up "Latae sententiae" & "We Remember: A Reflection on the Shoal".
Also a copy of Kerusblatt from September 1934, specifically a quote by a priest.
Reading this will reveal how the church opened it's genealogical records to the Nazi party to enable the tracing and the extent of a persons Jewish ancestry.
Note: I said the vatican knew about it, I didn't say they were actively involved. The upper echelons of the catholic empire keep close watch on their minions.
I greatly doubt the credibility of anyone who argues that, contrary to years of serious research by scientists worldwide, antisemitism is a racial trait.
Also, this is shaping up to be another youtube flame war. If it's alright with you, let's just agree to disagree and get on with our lives.
Hilter belong to a cult and was following on Nietzche who claims god was dead so therefore lets make a superman. God prevents us from making the superman. Jesus was mentioned in an ancient roman historican,Pius? document claiming he was a warlock. Pius the pope at the time was an agnostic not a chrisitan.
The followers of the ancient religions of the Egyptians and Aztecs were willing to die for their gods.
Could it be that religion is genetic ? Most people follow the religion of the parents. Or is it that we blindly follow the teachings of our elders, unable to believe that they could be mistaken. My belief, THIS VIDEO could be one of the best ever posted on youtube. If we don't screw up the world by global warming, there is every chance that we will screw it up by restrictive religion.
Everything that makes the civilised world work now, has been created by science. So much good that has improved the way we live and survive. Although mankind is still not the nicest thing that exists, we are improving on the barbarity of history, and mans inhumanity to man. Yes some things are bad, but the majority of scientific progress has been beneficial and has advanced our understanding of the universe.
Religion is responsible for more deaths, bigotry and intolerance throughout history that anything else. It has always held back the development of the truth in science, physics and evolution with so many of histories brilliant thinkers being held back by the beliefs of their time. With the threat of death for basphemy, heresy and apostatism. No free speech, if the speech is against religious belief. The ancient religions of the Egyptians and the Maya are now regarded as being beyond belief.
If you dont believe the bible then to some extent im not too bothered, i was just using it to show that quite a lot of what he said was wrong. He said religious ideas wouldnt stand up in court, and im just showin you it has!
Two guys are walking down the street. One guy turns to the other and says, "I know that God is real." The other guy says, "Really? How?" and the guy says " Cause the bible says so!" (What a joke eh?)
"Wouldn't have a hope of standing up in court" -Exodus 20: 'Do not murder', 'do not steal' Sound familiar?
Intolerant of racism?- "The violent babarism of the Islamic world" You said it!
"It's truth would shine through, undimmed." - It's managed to shine through till today and like you say "it''s completely out of control" Spreading like wildfire!
John 3:16 - 'For god so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life'.
Surely preaching your atheism is hypocritical?

Joe Pesci doesn't fuck around. Doesn't fuck around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that God was having trouble with. For years I asked God to do something about my noisy neighbor with the barking dog. Joe Pesci straightened that cock-sucker out with one visit."

Good Job!

You have a problem buddy, im not religious or believe in any god. But it seems that you are also preaching. so just SHUT UP! thanks
lopezdy 2 years ago
@lopezdy - You're an atheist like Pat if you don't believe in God. So why are you going after a fellow atheist? Pat has freedom of speech to ridicule the excesses of religious extremism.
It seems silly to tell him or anyone on the Internet to "SHUT UP". The Internet is about the free exchange of ideas.
The difference between the preaching of Pat Condell and the preaching by religions is that Pat doesn't try to invoke fear by saying what an imaginary God will do if you don't listen.
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago
so why does he send me a personal message calling my god a peace of vomit. he is invoking fear of the other side. ok I think if you do good in the world you will be rewarded ( in this life or the next doesn't matter which one) I don't give a fuck if you believe in my god or not as long as u do good. now am I horrible or blind for think that or do you think i am just fear mongering.
chinchoweed 1 year ago
an if you are foolish to think of "SHUT UP" as a literal meaning then you need to think of the emotion behind the words. a wo/man 's core ideals are attacked and you think they will say ok thank you.
chinchoweed 1 year ago
@chinchoweed - If you are cool with the belief or unbelief of others, than obviously you are not fear mongering.
I found it amazing that a non-believer told Pat to "shut up". I thought non-believers would share some of Pat's ideals. If a person doesn't like what's being said or how it's being said, they can just skip the video or they can offer some insight of their own.
People have all kinds of different core ideals on YouTube. It's nothing to get emotional about.
cooper79jeffr 1 year ago
don't you see the double standard that non-believer has the right to tell Pat's that his ideals are not rep of all non-believers with out that a man could dubble down to insanity getting more expream as he falls. also don't be thinking that emotions and religion will ever be seperate, do you think I go to church every sunday( and some otherdays) unless I had a strong emotion and youtube is just another way to express your voice and thus emotion.
chinchoweed 1 year ago
and i will talk about core Ideals with you because you seem at least respectful of what I think even if you think it is wrong, pat sent me a personal message calling my god " a peice of vomit" he is a fool that uses bullying and harsh words to spread hate, he just uses flashy words to hide it. vocab is used to make a word seem more interesting and does not make it more true.
chinchoweed 1 year ago
@chinchoweed - If Pat sent you such a message, that is indeed over the top. I don't usually comment on side conversations that aren't known. (It's not that I disbelieve your account of this personal message.)
Yes the non-believer certainly has the right to tell Pat whatever he wants. That's different than asking someone to "just shut up".
cooper79jeffr 1 year ago
@chinchoweed - I'm aware of the role emotions play. Since we're interactng with people we don't know, it's probably best to think that an opposite view (no matter how strongly expressed) is "just their viewpoint" rather than tying ourselves up in emotional knots over an opposing view.
Emotions can go too far on YouTube. I'm a former Jehovah's Witness, and an emotional defender of JW's on YT has told me I should die and that I'm worse than a child molestor. How does that advance his point?

@l8rthen - You speak of "atheistic ideologies". So tell me, when did someone start a war in the name of a non-God? When did someone tell their opponents "You'd better lose your religious superstition or else I will force you to be a free thinker"?
How does atheism, a lack of belief, oppress anyone who doesn't go along with it?
Even atheists who are most vocal about their philosophy do so because they're in favor of people's individual freedoms - as long as they don't infringe on others.
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago 2
@cooper79jeffr , in order for communism to succeed, religionists must B removed so that athiesm can be taught. One historical ex is bolsheviks, who declared war on relig, forbid relig instruction and taught athiesm.
Communusm was the new 'non-god- as you would have it.
so enough of the claptrap that relig killed more than athiestic baased idealogies.
not hard really 2 get
l8rthen 2 years ago
@l8rthen -- Your reply is a gross oversimplification of history, and a transaparent attempt to divert attention from the misdeeds done in the name of God.
Several religions actually grew during the time of communism in the USSR. Muslims were granted leeway they didn't have when being repressed by the czars who were bolstered by the Russian Orthodox church.
The Bolsheviks took political action against all meddling, interfering parties --including some but certainly not all religions.
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago
@cooper79jeffr, give up the ad hominems; nothing here 4 U concerning transparent anythings, the comment I respinded 2 earlier was never 2 deny that atrocities were not done by religionists, but rather to rep accuracy, i.e., blaming religion for wars, killings, when in fact, many more were killed 2 further athiestic idealogies. so spin away all u want, but u fail. give up UR strawmen. refute what my orig point was, but do not change my pos and then charge at UR new windmill
l8rthen 2 years ago

l8rthen 2 years ago
@l8rthen - Your continued insistence on "more were killed by athiest ideologies than by religionists" seems to represent a blatantly one-sided proposition that is drilled into your head by atheist-haters. I have read so much of that stuff on the Internet.
Atheists are the minority in the world, so how can they be responsible for more killings than all the religiously-induced hatred? I just don't buy it.
You're tilting at an atheist windmill, aided and abetted by anti-atheist blogs.
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago

Instead of just making inane statements that something that 'seems' 2 U, why not quote some numbers?
4 U 2 even 2 take issue with millions of people killed by athiest based idealogies, suppose U tell me what numbers U had researched. How many mil has communism killed? cont.
l8rthen 2 years ago
lenin, mao, pol pot did not have 'athiestic bent' . In order 4 them 2 succeed, religon had 2 go so that ppl could be brainwashed and controlled. religionists would have opposed their athiestic oppression, i.e., human rights , slavery 2 trhe state
l8rthen 2 years ago
@l8rthen - I won't deny that Bolshevism had an atheistic bent, but there was no way they could possibly "remove" all religion and they knew it. They just acted against those who posed a threat to their power -- not just religious but other institutions as well. This was to gain power and political advantage. Attempting to entirely "remove" religion would not have been productive as it is deeply rooted. But curbing religion's power to an extent? That it COULD do.
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago
@cooper79jeffr , then let me B alittle more precise in my wording. In order for communsim 2 take root and succeed, athiesm needed 2 B taught in schools so that sheep could B indoctrinated 2 help oppress their fellow man. What U call meddling was an influence that stood in the way of advancing athiestic communism.
Separately,Do U support communism?
RU an ardent supporter of the first amendment?
l8rthen 2 years ago
@l8rthen - I support freedom of speech and belief. My view (as an atheist) is that government should have NO role in deciding what the favored religion is. People should have the freedom to believe, or not believe, as they choose.
America is becoming more multi-cultural, and should be the land of freedom. One religion's favorite God shouldn't be emphasized in our public schools. Period.
I don't support communism. Where did you get that from? Must atheists be communist?
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago
@cooper79jeffr , would u consider URself 2 B a patriot?
l8rthen 2 years ago
@l8rthen - You're correct: Schools are a possible focal point for indoctrination.
I assert the deliberate de-funding of schools that started in the Reagan period led to less quality education in public schools. Sadly, many teachers have to pay for some supplies out of their meager salaries.
With an under-educated electorate, it would be easier for corporate interests to put their agenda over on America. I think this has happened, and THIS is the "indoctrination" to be concerned with.
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago
@cooper79jeffr , our trbl with education is not dollars spent. It is with discipline and quality teaching. We pay more and grade everything on a curve, dumbing down the system. Q is not of insufficient funds. Issue is not of money that caused our students 2 graduate and still B illiterate and ignorant.
l8rthen 2 years ago
" In order for communsim 2 take root and succeed .. " This assumption lacks evidence in history. In fact you can safely assume the opposite , from historical examples of China, Russia, Albania etc we know that ignorant religious population creates perfect environment for communists to take over. Equating communism and atheism is pointless, since atheism does not necessary leads to communistic world view - Ayan Rand and similar philosophers could be used as an example of the opposite.
cheburashka1326 2 years ago
@cheburashka1326 , sorry dued, but no go there either. Note the word 'succeed'. Communism must teach athiesm or it's power will be challenged by other idealogies. Idealogies that would teach higher values than the state would be in conflict and interfere with indoctrination in order for the state to build on.
l8rthen 2 years ago
who is equating communism with athiesm? You can be athiestic without being communist. But for a communist empire to flourish, athiesm must be taught in order to indoctrinate the future generations of children.
l8rthen 2 years ago
Sorry I misunderstood you. As for teaching atheism, not really. If an ideology, which is communism in this case(NOT atheism, if it even can be considered an ideology), is taught in school you do not need to teach any anti theology. It is the same way that catholic school does not need to teach anti-islam to indoctrinate children. For example If there was any "anti" teaching in soviet schools it was "anti-capitalism". Church was not a problem, it coexisted with communists quite well in USSR.
cheburashka1326 2 years ago
@cheburashka1326 , U R incorrecft when U say that in order for communism 2 succeed, U do not need 2 teach anti-theology. U certainly do. Look to what Lenin taught and said. Look to what Mao said and taught. Look at the millions who were victims of their oppressive cruelty. Religion certainly did not co-exist well with the formation of communism.
l8rthen 2 years ago
Perhaps U R referring 2 the religion that exists in Russia today and China?
Both of those countries are freer and more capitalistic now then they were then. More so weith Russia than with China, but that will change.
But communsim could never have taken root without being butressed by athiesm. What values does athiesm teach that would stand in the way of communism?
l8rthen 2 years ago
You are shifting a topic - whatever Lenin, Mao, Stalin said is not necessarily what was taut in school, which was your main point. Second issue I dare you please find me a quote form Lenin where he called for or ordered killing/imprisonment of religious people just for their religious views. Lookup debates between Lunacharskii (minister of culture) and various church leaders. Such debates were common up to 1930-s , who do you think he was debating, if they all were oppressed?
cheburashka1326 2 years ago
I did notice the word succeed , I also noticed "take root", that is the part that I kind object to. Communist usually took over where people were ignorant and religious, brainwashing them into something new was a peace of cake. Indoctrination in communist dogma is necessary, as you pointed out, but form personal experience growing up in USSR I can tell you that atheism was negligible part of it. In fact participating in activities of Russian orthodox church was not that much of a big a deal.
cheburashka1326 2 years ago
@cheburashka1326 , if U R basing your answers on UR experience in USSR, the USSR U lived in was nothing like it's birth of communism. Please note that when communist empires were starting, purges and killings were needed. Religions was attacked in order to discredit it as the etics it taught were counter to what an athiestic based communist idealogy taught. Religion often taught values that are inconsistent with the values of the state. Athiesm fit quite well.
l8rthen 2 years ago
Whether people were superstitious is not , imo, the core issue. It was not easy for communism to rake over. That is why all the multiple years of murder, killings and oppression were necessary. That is why generations of indoctricnated athiest idealogy was used to buttress communism.
l8rthen 2 years ago
You venturing into territory that you do not seem to know. At least in USSR first wave of repression was against monarchist element(those who wanted to reinstate monarchy), and democratic/anarchist people who wanted to reinstate democratic government(of 02/1917) that communists disbanded to get to power. The only relevance religion had to that that they(Orthodox church) took monarchists side. Second /Third (the deadliest) waves were not connected to religion in any way.
cheburashka1326 2 years ago
You are trying to drag atheism in where it really had no place. Straggle with church(NOT RELIGION) in both societies continued up to the point the church(!) stopped opposing the state doctrine. In both societies church coexisted and it was functioning after the purges. Property of the orthodox church in Russia was confiscated in many cases for very simple reason russian orthodox church was one of the biggest property owners at the time.

Kenwayne,
If Islamists get there way, in time there will be Muslim religious displays, and Muslim holidays being celebrated at schools.
If a certain brand of Christianity is being shoved down our throats in schools and in government buildings and in the workplace, that is just as bad as having Muslim ideology shoved down our throats.
In America -- freedom to worship does not mean forcing others to endure your or any other brand of piety.

lets put those verses into context, what we read about is only the culture in which they lived. They believed sinning was against their law of the land and so it warranted death, much like people get punished for failing to adhere to the laws of our lands today. The 10 commandments were the laws they had and so this is is why people were instructed to kill.
172afg 2 years ago
172afg,
So you defend the violence of the Old Testament by trying to put the writings into a cultural context.
This may surprise you, but I actually agree. I believe the "holy" writings of all cultures, Jews and Arabs included, are a representation of their culture.
However if the Bible really were from a universal, loving God -- it would not stoop to human levels of violence and vengeance, as the Old Testament so obviously does.
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago
You never anwered my question about how religion and people who believe in God has stifled progress because you don't have an answer. Now let me give you a list of what atheist have accomplished. Aggresive atheism, pioneered by that maniac Madalyn Muarry O' Hare, has led to the abolition of prayer from our schools, removal of the The Ten Commandments whenever an intolerant atheist is offended; Banning of Bible-reading at school during recess; Banning of Christmans displays, etc,..
kenwayne96 2 years ago
Kenwayne,
I did answer your question -- religious leaders have consistently tried to stifle scientific and social progress through the centuries, and they continue to put up resistance on both fronts -- and in cases they do succeed for a while.
BTW -- Everything you mentioned by Madalyn Murray O'Hare -- I applaud each of her efforts. Why? Because dammit this is America, home of the free. People who don't believe in a certain religion shouldn't haved it shoved down their throats.
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago
It also says "thou shalt not kill" but there are countless verses where God tells us to kill (in both testaments) -- not just non-christians but homosexuals, "witches", false prophets, people who don't believe priests, and followers of other religions. There are so many contradictions it's amazing. There is no justification for suddenly not believing the old testament. Like how the Catholic church suddenly adapts evolution. Leaving the Catholic church was one of the best things I've ever done.
jorts900 2 years ago
Well, actually you are supposed to believe in the old testament, idiot. People try to justify removing it because there is more ridiculous shit in the old testament rather than the new testament.
"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness..." 2 Timothy 3:16.

I was tryin not to comment but i found it tooo hard! Jorts900, where in the bible does it say we are to kill non-christians?!?!? thats an outrageous statement!!
172afg 2 years ago
172afg,
Technically you're correct. The exhortation to kill nonbelievers is actually in the Old Testament, in places like the first 5 verses of Deuteronomy 17.
However, isn't the God of the Hebrews the same one that the Christians worshipped? I don't think a different being took over as God when the B.C.E. era was over.
The point is, some Bible-based religions preach the hateful denunciations and jeremiads found in the Old Testament, and say God will bring that wrath in our times.

why is he so bothered by something he does't believe in? If God doesn't exist - then why is he so hot under the color?
kenwayne96 2 years ago
He's not bothered by the idea of God, Wayne. Instead, he's bothered the stupidity displayed by religionists and how their ideas stifle progress and fairness.

We have the Internet and Cell-phones; We have e-mail; We have Blue-tube pieces that people attach to the ears to talk; People have laptop computers and I-pods and black-Berries and Text-messaging, cordless phones, etc,. We affirmative Action which has provided more job opportunities for minorities; Plus we have the first Black President of the United States. Please explain to me, cooper79jeffr, how the religious and people who believe in God have stifled progress and fairness.
kenwayne96 2 years ago
@ kenwaynee96 Religion has stifled stem cell research, gay people's rights, woman's rights, birth control in 3rd world country's and science with rational thought in general. If you want more examples just ask.
dalejr88 2 years ago
Pat Condell has explained quite well how religions have stifled progress and fairness. However I'll go into a little more on this point.
I'm not talking about technology, I'm talking human advancement. Regarding your example of affirmative action: Fundamentalist preachers taught the blacks were a cursed race, and opposed the Civil Rights movement. Society made advancement IN SPITE of their opposition.
Now such religions have turned their opppostion towards equal rights for gays.
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago
*Opposition not opppostion, which is not really a word.
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago
What do you mean by "human advancement,"? You said in your comment that "Society has made advancement IN SPITE of their opposition." Thats a self-defeating comment. I'm sorry cooper79jeffr - but I'm still in the dark about how religionist and people who believe in God have "stifled progress and fairness."
kenwayne96 2 years ago
No, kenwayne -- you just want to argue and defend religion. Religions too often push back human progress. They stifle it for a while.
Religions have done this since early times. Example in past centuries, they taught the untruth that the earth was the center of the universe and persecuted scientists who dared tell the truth. Dalejr88 mentioned more examples, and there are even more.
Recently the Mormon church funded a repressive measure against gay marriage equality in California.
cooper79jeffr 2 years ago 2

Even Jesus said in the Bible, "The time will come when he that kills you thinks he does God a service,"

20)Only the truth is the way that leads to your development, whereas displeasure is created on all sides by the untruth of all those who are going astray and deny the truth or replace the truth with a religious belief.

IBLISendofdays 2 years ago
Half truths.
Vatican city itself hid jewish refugees and later arranged their escape.
legionofyuri 2 years ago 2
Two can play the quote game:
"As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice. " Adolf Hitler
As for the vile instituition of the church you well know that the vatican knew about locating jews. The pope could easily have excommunicated the catholic Nazi's after the war. However, the pope doesn't like to punish evil people. EG, the current pope spent years covering up the crimes of his peadophilic priests.
IBLISendofdays 2 years ago
Doesn't seem to hold up to the fact that thousands of non-aryan christians were sent to concentration camps along with Jews though.
I may need an example of the Vatican helping the nazis round up Jews ;) cite reliable sources please.
*Sigh* lemme clear up the concept of excommunication. It's for dissidents and sinners who may choose to seek repentance and forgiveness later. Also look up "Latae sententiae" & "We Remember: A Reflection on the Shoal".

Here is my reference citations for you:
"Hitlers Willing Executioners" By Goldhagen

Has Science done a lot of damage, too? Look a nukes and weapons?
altarush 2 years ago
