Okay, I'm going to try not to be rude about this. I only started reading the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series about 2 and a half years ago when a friend of mine recommended it to me. In fact, before I ever even read one book, I knew exactly what happened all the way up though 'Micah'. And, personally, I love the books. I think they're a lot better than a lot of the other vampire novels out there. And LKH actually does a really good job at expanding on her characters and the storyline.

Yes, the first couple books weren't the best books in the world, but she was just starting out. And I will say this, Be thankful she wasn't the Sex addict she is when she wrote the first few books. In her newer books, you might as well be READING porn. Anita gets this thing called the Ardeur from Jean-Claude and, I wont go into detail, but it pretty much makes it so that she has to have sex several times a day in order to live.

Narcissus in Chains through Cerulean Sins took me FOREVER to read because, really, all youre reading is Sex Scene after Sex scene, almost every one of which is with a different guy. However, when you skip past all the got danged sex, Her plots and storylines are actually really good, well researched, and Well thought out. I own the entir Anita Blake series from Guilty Pleasures to Skin Trade. And, as soon as I get the money, I will have Flirt as well.

If you wanna read some really good books, go check out Sherrilyn Kenyons Dark-Hunter series. THAT is a great book series (Its got around 30 books to it now). It's not really a Vampire series, but it's a bit close. Probably the best series I've ever read besides Harry Potter.

@Llynnyia Guilty Pleasures didn't have any sex in it. LKH never started putting in the sex scenes until about the 3rd or 4th book. So the one she read was no-where near as bad as the later ones.

As for this video, its not constructive citicism, it's a girl complaining about wasting £8 on something she didn't like. The first five were good. And sadly, given the state of Hamilton's recent books, i think this girl could do a better job. When you have to push the plot along using a sex scene that last for THREE chapters then it's time to put the character to bed. First off I just want to say that if wanted post a review you should have taken the to practice saying out loud what you wanted to say so you dont sound like a rambling idiot. Second I would reccomend you go to the library and read more of the series because if you think about it techincally you only read the first chapter because each book of any series is compareable to a chapter of a stand alone novel. So go read more and when you have enough information then make an intelligent review.

I love fantasy. It's me genre of choice though it is getting more difficult to find something that isn't a rip off of LOTR or equally as unoriginal. I've just started getting back into horror though so I don't really know that much about the genre.

Ok, I understand that people have different tastes in book, but to be completely fair and honest, Laurell Hamilton did not write the book to pull you into an epic storyline, she wrote it to give you an overall idea of the story. She also introduced alot of key characters. When I started to read it, well "eh.." but then you realize it's just and intro THATS IT. Now that you read Guilty Pleasures, go and read Laughing Corpse. TRUST ME you will like it a WHOLE lot more. I did. And now I am hooked.
