I completely disagree with @IEKUKATAKA remark about "true karate" does not encourage champions and only encourages good, honest, hard working and earnest practitioners. Both modes of thinking are why black belts often get beat on the street by smaller, untrained but quite experienced street fighters. True martial arts should prepare for REAL COMBAT. PERIOD! Anything less is a joke!

Okay, Here's my take on this; this lady has major skills and talent, but that been said it is sports martial arts, a big difference than all out street fighting or even MMA .

Just because someone is very skilled in the arts doesn't necessarily mean that will always win them the fight in the streets, 1000 different factors can come into play on the streets. Been there done that I know first hand.

@IEKUKATAKA The "corrupting influence" (your term) is not only from the west. Sport karate (JKF) and the karate Olympics movement have been promoted heavily by Japan. It's in Japan's nationalist interest, and while I don't agree their motive is "corrupt," sport karate is not very interesting and seems to promote the wrong values. Many karate competitors still have grounding in tradition, but I share your concern that karate could eventually become nothing more than a sport.

If using the martial art of Okinawa for purposes of national interest while degrading it for that purpose is not corrupting it, I can't imagine what would be. Additionally, the Japanese have corrupted karate in many ways already, the JKA is a classic example.

At some point it could have been erronously said it was corrupted Chuan Fa, but, the Okinawans did not claim it to be Chuan Fa. Karate has other influences but they were interwoven with the Okinawan art. You are looking at this from a western view, look at it from the view of a culture interested in self protection no matter what, not tournaments or belts or accolades etc. Baseball is American, it has other influences also.

No, you can tell its shitoryu and what's more kata designed for winning tournaments in WKF, dead-the flow's gone. Works well for shuri-te katas but sucks for naha-te katas, bunkai becomes lost or messed-up.
