i hate English dubs .......well not really but come on people put some eforts into the voices! some dubs r good but the majority suck so much and ruin good anime sometimes. OH for people that do not know this show DONT BE FOOLED BY THE OP!!!!!!!!!! AND AFTER THE ANIME READ THE MANGA FROM CH 40SH U COULD READ IT FROM THE BEGINNING BUT IT WOULD BE LIKE WATCHING THE ANIME IN A MORE GRUESOME WAY..LETS JUST SAY AFTER I FINISH THE MANGA I WAS SCARF FOR LIFE! THE ENDING MY GOD....SEE FOR YOURSELF...
We all know that most Grade C voice actors suck. They talk like they would read to their kids at night before going to bed. If you want to complain, take it to the companies that carelessly dubs the animes.
On my part, Japanese anime are now dying in terms of quality due to demands. They are using too much of the same formulas and it's depressing.
Absolutely. Anime have reached a plateau, and have stopped growing. The formulas and gimmicks they use to cover up the lack of real animation have worn very thin, and this example shows how badly they can damage a very rich, well-written story. The comic is wonderful, but this adapatation retains little of what makes it unique. Many shots are lifted straight off the page, but filtered through the tired old anime formulas, they retain little impact. Plus much of the characterization is lost.
More emotion? Well, maybe, but I still feel it's damn unnatural. Plus, compared to the understated emotions in the manga, generally even the Jap dub felt overacted.
However, just for your information, the story's far from over where the anime ends.
(And the manga ending, 6 volumes later, sucks incomparably more. One of my favourites, but it's still unbelievably painful to read)
well damn sorry u feel that way i just happened to see the series while looking for a good anime to watch excuse me if i dont sit and waste my life reading manga all day for your information i know the stories far from over
Yeah, the manga is my favorite comic story, period---western or Japanese. That's why it kills me that this very weak adaptation seems to be better known in the US. The last few episodes are an improvement, but overall it's extremely mediocre. Somehow, even though it follows much of the manga shot for shot (and how incredibly unimaginative is that?), it manages to lose much of the character depth (not to mention the themes) that make the original story so compelling. (continued)
Great video if youre interested in the technical side of things. However, the english Dub pained my ears. The original japanese tends to be artificial at times too, but this is *horrid*.

Garbage voice acting aside, this is an interesting look at a very important part of the process of creating not only animation, but any form of film.

Listening to the voices, "the girls sounded like cats having sex..." --- hey don't look at me! My sister said it... it's true though.
And the timing is too slow. >.>

And I agree that the acting is pretty bad, but I'm not even talking about that when I say the adapatation is weak.

I wonder if is intentionally "artificial" to make people not feel so horrified that they have to stop watching...
